Re: DIS: Re: BUS: Election update
I'm planning, absent a convincing argument about why this is a hideously bad idea, to withdraw. I've never really wanted the office, and I'm a bit uneasy about taking on more workload. At the time I joined, I was unaware of any candidacy except Rada's. Under those circumstances, I wanted to provide an alternative. Right now I see fewer and fewer reasons to stay in the race, and more and more to leave it to others. G., if you wanted to join the race (I think you still can, haven't checked) and reform the office, I'd like to note that you're the best Referee we've had in my memory. Otherwise, people are free to vote for Corona, and I hope they will, because it makes little sense to reelect someone to the very office they last left... under a cloud, so to speak. If I remain in the race, it would be at the most as a temporary placeholder, and right now that doesn't look very appealing to me. -Aris On Mon, Jun 18, 2018 at 9:44 AM Kerim Aydin wrote: > > > Honestly the main reason I didn't run again is that checking for past > reports is a pain even with timely ADoP reports at hand (and I didn't > want to be haphazard either). > > In one of the old blotting systems, finger-pointing for specific crimes > was the job of whomever tracked the records involved; e.g. the ADoP > did the finger-pointing for late Reports, Treasuror for late payments, > etc. Might work a little better? > > On Mon, 18 Jun 2018, Aris Merchant wrote: > > I very much liked your blotting policy. oh haha I hadn't even been thinking of my balance. Yeah if that ratified it would be true to "intent" (at least on my side) and "fairness" (4 incs for 4 blots). Re: DIS: Re: BUS: [Treasuror] new layout with zombies separated - do you like it?
Yes, Corona's incense balance is correct now. But yours, G., was 33 in the last report, and is still 33, despite giving 2 incense to Corona. When I said it "effectively cancels out the six-incense-for-four-blots confusion", I meant that it would have the same effect as if you hadn't given Corona the incense, and e had only destroyed 4 incense to expunge eir 4 blots - which presumably would have been your respective intentions if you'd been aware at the time that the attempt to impose Summary Judgement would be ineffective. I'm aware this makes assumptions about your intentions which aren't necessarily my place to make, which is why I left it up to either of you (or, technically, I suppose, anyone else) to make an actual CoE if you felt it appropriate. (I also have a feeling that I'm horribly overthinking this!) -twg ‐‐‐ Original Message ‐‐‐ On June 18, 2018 6:09 PM, Kerim Aydin wrote: > > > E had 20 incense in the last report. > > Indicated on transfers: > > - destroyed 3 to expunge 3 blots. > - destroyed 6 to expunge 4 blots (questionable). > - given 2 by G. > > Net, counting the questionable 6: 13 incense. > > On Mon, 18 Jun 2018, Timon Walshe-Grey wrote: > > > > This time you gave yourself the 2 incense but didn't take it away from G. > > (I accept partial responsibility, since it would probably have been more > > helpful if I'd written "numbers" instead of "number" in my CoE...) > > > > I'm not going to raise another formal CoE because this error effectively > > cancels out the six-incense-for-four-blots confusion, so I don't think it > > would be entirely unfair to let it self-ratify - I'll leave it up to your > > (and G.'s) discretion. > > > > -twg > > > > ‐‐‐ Original Message ‐‐‐ > > > > On June 18, 2018 5:54 PM, Corona liliumalbum.ag...@gmail.com wrote: > > > > > Sorry. E had 20 incense in the last report. Indicated on transfers: - destroyed 3 to expunge 3 blots. - destroyed 6 to expunge 4 blots (questionable). - given 2 by G. This time you gave yourself the 2 incense but didn't take it away from G. (I accept partial responsibility, since it would probably have been more helpful if I'd written "numbers" instead of "number" in my CoE...) I'm not going to raise another formal CoE because this error effectively cancels out the six-incense-for-four-blots confusion, so I don't think it would be entirely unfair to let it self-ratify - I'll leave it up to your (and G.'s) discretion. -twg ‐‐‐ Original Message ‐‐‐ On June 18, 2018 5:54 PM, Corona wrote: > > > Sorry. Yeah, back when the requirement was to Card or certify that absolutely no crimes had happened recently, I thought to myself I'd never take on that job. Also, one thing I realized in doing the task is that a lot of the SHALLs for non-report things (mainly starting processes) were put in when we had no quantified punishment, but the SHALLS were put in, not because anyone cared about things being a little late, but to trigger deputization ability when the game stalled out on a missing officer. Definitely a different mindset. I'd say, of all the things I'm willing to mandate for automation, using the [Officer] Tag in the subject line and other format stuff is what I'd be most comfortable with (of course, this is a bad week to say that all reports have to go to OFF!)

Honestly the main reason I didn't run again is that checking for past reports is a pain even with timely ADoP reports at hand (and I didn't want to be haphazard either). In one of the old blotting systems, finger-pointing for specific crimes was the job of whomever tracked the records involved; e.g. the ADoP did the finger-pointing for late Reports, Treasuror for late payments, etc. Might work a little better? False, what made you think that? Players are dissatisfied if reports are missed; oh yes, persons missing reports will be punished with atom-clock precision and a camel's perseverance.
