[Ai] Confusion regarding new&old currency notes

2017-08-18 Thread Vikas Kapoor via Ai
Folks, after reading the dimension of the new 50 rupee note yesterday, it is
going to be very challenging for the VI people to differentiate between the
current 10 rupee note and the new 50 rupee note. The dimension of the new 50
rupee note would be 66×135mm, while the current 10 rupee note is 63×137mm. I
suppose the width of both these note would not be easily identifiable as it is
very difficult to measure 2 or 3mm unless held both the notes together. I'd
request all VI people to be vigilant enough in the future and advise all of
you to always keep a 10 rupee note handy with you to identify the new 50 rupee
note. It is very pathetic to know that several types of old and new currency
notes would be coexisting in this country.

[Ai] Can we change our local library in Sugamya Pustakalaya?

2017-08-18 Thread Akash Kakkar via Ai
Hi all,
I've registered with Sugamya Pustakalaya and during registration, I
was asked for my local library choice.
I chose Saksham there.
I want to know that can we change this choice in future? and what's
the effect of choosing local library?
will we only get the titles of our chosen library only?
Also, my registration is awaiting approval, thats why I'm asking here
instead of trying by my own.

[Ai] Giving the TOEFL or IELTS in an accessible format

2017-08-18 Thread Rahul Bajaj via Ai
Hi Everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. In order to apply for my masters
in the near future, I plan on giving the TOEFL or IELTS.
I'd be very grateful if those of you who have given the exam in the
past could comment on the following:
A. Which tests out of the two do you think is more accessible?
B. Can you describe the reasonable accommodations that the test taking
authorities make in order to make the test accessible to you?
C. What steps did you take to ask them for reasonable accommodation?
D. In what format was the study material made available to you?

I believe the ETS, which conducts the TOEFL, requires you to submit
the relevant documentation six weeks before taking the test as opposed
to the normal four week period.
Please call me on 9890281068 if you'd prefer discussing this over the
phone instead. Thanks for your help!

Best,
Rahul

Kotak Securities is accessible with screen reader and most of the brokers
provide call-in-trade facility also.

Re: [Ai] how to remove amazon search tool bar

2017-08-18 Thread shankar shan via Ai
hi sazid,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and
some Preferences.

follow the steps provided below.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a
window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

once the firefox gets restored, dont install any toolbars.
insted, just make google as your default home page and continue browsing.

hi there, as for my understanding, the jaws o c r feature does not
read the j p e g files.
as ajay said, either you need to use find reader or Kurzweil to
acomplesh the task.
if not, use some online converter like http://www.robobraille.org/
and convert the file and read it.

they all say the OCR is finished, but nothing is read when i move

[Ai] Shaju Philip reports: More than religion, society needs humanism: Muslim woman who married paralysed Dalit under fire from kin, community

2017-08-18 Thread avinash shahi via Ai
He is a Hindu Dalit, paralysed below the waist and wheelchair-bound
for 10 years. She is from an orthodox Muslim family. They met and fell
in love on
Facebook.
Despite the odds, M B Pramod, 36, and I Meharunnisa, 30, registered
their marriage on Wednesday at his home at Poonjar in Kottayam
district.
http://indianexpress.com/article/india/kerala-muslim-woman-who-married-paralysed-dalit-under-fire-from-kin-community-more-than-religion-society-needs-humanism-4801928/
Meharunnisa, from Guruvayur in Thrissur district, has been under fire
from her community for the past three months. Relatives and community
members wanted
her to leave Pramod, telling her to “get out of the trap”. However,
she stuck to her philosophy: “We healthy persons should fill with joy
the lives of
the physically disabled ones. More than religion, society needs humanism.’’

Pramod was a cable TV operator. In 2007, he fell into a small water
body near his house. The injuries left him paralysed below the waist.
After doing the
rounds at a number of hospitals, he returned home in a wheelchair.

In the meantime, Pramod’s parents Mangattukunnel Balakrishnan and
Saraswati were diagnosed with cancer. Balakrishnan, a BSNL employee,
died in 2013. Saraswati
became the lone support for Pramod. The family survived on a meagre pension.

Pramod said, “I would frequent social networking sites on my phone. I
met Meharunnisa on Facebook two years ago. At the outset, I told her
about my condition
and other family matters, which should have made any woman keep away from me.’’

Meharunnisa said that as they became closer, she sought the opinion of friends.

“Most of them dissuaded me. They told me my life would be spoiled. But
I always felt it would be a great thing to contribute to the happiness
of others.
When Pramod spoke about his mother’s disease, I decided I should step
into their lives,’’ she said.

The two were married in May. It was a simple ceremony at Pramod’s
house. The marriage was registered under the Special Marriage Act on
Wednesday.

Meharunnisa, a graduate in education, said she has been targeted
online by members of her community. “My family and others thought I
was trapped. They
spread messages on social media groups that a Muslim woman had eloped
with a Hindu man. There were audio clips saying I should be brought
back. However,
there was no threat from anyone.”

She said her community saw the marriage only from a religious angle.
“People consider this love affair a crime. At home, no one speaks
about conversion
to Hinduism. I haven’t changed any customs because of the marriage,’’
said Meharunnisa.

81 Lakh Aadhaars, 11 Lakh PANs Deactivated. How To Check Status

Aadhaar, which is issued by the UIDAI, is mandatory for filing of
income tax return and applying for PAN

Highlights

   * Government has set deadline of August 31 for linking Aadhaar with PAN
   * From July 1, quoting of Aadhaar mandatory for filing of income
tax return
   * Aadhaar also mandatory for applying for a new Permanent Account
No. (PAN)
Are you aware that as many as
81
lakh Aadhaar numbers and
11
lakh PANs (Permanent Account Numbers) have been either deleted or
deactivated? From July 1 this year, quoting of Aadhaar - a 12-digit
identity number issued by the UIDAI or Unique Identification
Authority of India - has been made mandatory for filing of income tax
returns (ITRs) as well as for applying for a new PAN, a 10-digit
alphanumeric number allotted by the Income Tax Department. While the
government has already explained
why
seeding of Aadhaar into the PAN database is essential, it has time
and again used multiple platforms to urge assessees to link their
Aadhaar with PAN.
August
31, 2017 is the last date to do this.

So if you haven't done this already, you need to link your Aadhaar
with PAN soon. But first, it is advisable to
check
whether both your identities - Aadhaar and PAN - are active.

Here's how you can check the status of your Aadhaar:

A tool on the UIDAI website, called 'Verify Aadhaar Number', enables
service providers and holders of Aadhaar number to verify if their
"Aadhaar number is valid and is not deactivated". Using this tool, an
individual can "check if an Aadhaar number is valid or not
deactivated", according to the UIDAI portal - uidai.gov.in.

But four percent won't help us, blind.
It is the same one percent for us.
Moreover, reservation in promotion is not specifically provided for in the
act.
It is left to government instructions from time to time.

Yes, it is now in force. We should press for 4% reservation as section 34 of
the new act. You may download the pdf version from
