The problem here is that Itinerary doesn't know where the event is (although

Yes, that's definitely things we would like to have eventually!
For anything vehicle-based the necessary data for this is often not available
in machine readable form and/or with a sufficient level of detail

Yep, that makes sense. We do have the necessary infrastructure already, so this
is mostly a UI problem.
The initial default time and location are taken from the timeline position,
this could be expanded to also

Ah, Flatpak is the important thing I was missing here! I need to check if
there's a better way to enable this without having to give apps full file
system access.

Strange, that works here without problems. Does this affect all files or just
some with certain problematic file names? Does the file printed there actually
exist or is it getting the wrong path from Dolphin do

It's supposed to follow the platform language, there is no explicit setting in
the app itself at this point.
