Which OS are you using?
With CentOS we find that the heap is not always automatically
released. (You can check the heap freelist with `ceph tell osd.0 heap
stats`).
As a workaround we run this hourly:
ceph tell mon.* heap release
ceph tell osd.* heap release
ceph tell mds.* heap release

I have existing CEPH cluster of 3 nodes, versions 0.72.2
I'm in a process of installing CEPH on 4th node, but now CEPH version is
0.80.1
Will this make problems running mixed CEPH versions ?
I intend to upgrade CEPH on exsiting 3 nodes anyway ?
Recommended steps ?

Hi,
I am trying to setup ceph and I am using ceph-deploy. I am following the
steps in object store quick guide. When I execute ceph-deploy gatherkeys it
throws up the following error.
Unable to find /etc/ceph/ceph.client.admin.keyring
Unable to find /var/lib/ceph/bootstrap-osd/ceph.keyring

On my CEPH cluster, ceph -s return result quite slow.
Sometimes it return result immediately, sometimes i hang few seconds before
return result.
Do you think this problem (ceph -s slow return) only relate to ceph-mon(s)
process? or maybe it relate to ceph-osd(s) too?

I think the ceph-fuse is just a client, why it needs packages ceph?
I found when i install ceph-fuse, it will install package ceph.
But when i install ceph-common, it will not install package ceph.
May be ceph-fuse is not just a ceph client?

Does ceph-ansible support upgrading a cluster to the latest minor versions,
(ex. mimic 13.2.2 to 13.2.4)
All you need for upgrade is `yum upgrade`, then `systemctl restart
ceph-mon.target ceph-mgr.target`
on mon hosts, then `systemctl restart ceph-osd.target` on osd hosts.
That's all
I have deployed, expanded and upgraded multiple Ceph clusters using
ceph-ansible. Works great.

I faced similar kind of errors and these are really annoying. I tried this and
worked for me.
1. Your ceph-node1 is now a monitor node, but it cannot form quorum.
2. check monitor logs from ceph-node1 on /var/lib/ceph directory. This will
give you more strength.

After I ran the ceph-volume command, I see the directory is mounted:
# mount
...
tmpfs on /var
OK. I've fixed it.
Previously I ran ceph-deploy osd create ceph-node4:sdb by mistake. I
terminated it by Ctrl-c. Therefore the lock on
/var/lib/ceph/tmp/ceph-disk.prepare.lock.lock was not released.
So the next ceph-deploy osd create was hanging waiting for the lock.

I've got a cluster with different OSD structures, some are updated to
15.2.12 and the others are 15.2.9 (bluestore).

To access the storage cluster from kvm hypervisor what are the packages need to
install on kvm hypervisor(do we need to install qemu,ceph on KVM host? For
cloudstack-ceph integration).

I was wondering if anyone has Mesos running on top of Ceph?
I want to test/use Ceph if lieu of HDFS.
I'm working on Gentoo, but any experiences with Mesos on Ceph
are of keen interest to me as related to performance, stability

Just to follow up, I started from scratch, and I think the key was to run
ceph-deploy purge (nodes) , ceph-deploy purgdata (nodes) and finally
ceph-deploy forgetkeys

If it's caused by ceph-fuse crash. Please enable coredump when using
ceph-fuse. When ceph-fuse crash, use gdb to inspect the coredump and
send calltrace to us. This will helps us to locate the bug quickly.

1. Is there a clear procedure documented for removing a failed ceph-node ?
I have read and performed removing ODSs successfully, but are there
commands that can be used to remove the node itself ?
2. On the ceph documentation website, how can I find Jewel, Kraken or
Luminous specific docs
ceph-disk should be considered as "frozen" and deprecated for Mimic,
in favor of ceph-volume.
ceph-volume will continue to support bare block device, i.e. without
lvm'ish stuff?

- bluestore + separate wal and db
I found the ceph osd folder `/var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-0` is mounted
from tmpfs. But where the files in that folder come from? like `keyring`,

enable --force" to enable plugin. It's plug and print some
message in plugin but it's not print any log in ceph-mgr log file.

As i know rocksdb uses fs to put files, i find blobdb in rocksdb code in
utilities does ceph uses it?
Or how ceph uses rocksdb to put kv in raw block device

Does anyone succeed to use collectd/ceph plugin to collect ceph
cluster data?
I'm using collectd(5.8.1) and Ceph-15.0.0. collectd failed to get
cluster data with below error:
"collectd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart"

I have an issue where all "ceph pg" command hang forever, ie:
ceph pg dump
ceph pg ls-by-pool
etc
All pgs report as active+clean.
Any pointers on correcting this?

Did any one installed ceph-deploy on rhel7 with rados gate way.
I see there are no rpms available for rhel7 in ceph-deploy in
download.ceph.com for nautilis , luminous, octopus versions.
Is ceph-deploy go to for rhel7???

I had a cluster on v13 (mimic) and have converted it to Octopus (15.2.3) and
using Cephadm. In the dashboard is showing as all v15
What do I need to do with the Ceph rpms that are installed as they are all Ceph
version 13.
Do I remove them and install Ceph rpms with version 15
Can big data use Ceph?For example, can Hive Hbase Spark use Ceph?
