I had the same problem, but I seem to have solved it switching the bios
option PCI Bus 2.1 Compliance to off.
If this is not sufficient try switching the PIC mode from APIC to
PIC (always in bios).
Also, be sure to have installed the latest kernel (2.4.18-17.x).
