[all-audio] Sound Forge 12 audio selection problem solved, but ...
If I execute the arm and record functions manually through the Transport menu, everthing works like it should. I made the invalid assumption that Control plus Shift plus A arms the recording, and Control plus Shift plus R starts it. Seems I was half right. Control plus Shift plus A no longer performs that function; now, it enables all channels, and there appears to be no way of disabling them and recording with only two. So, is the arm function really necessary? And I see that Control plus R is not listed in the help window for "Start recording". And I would swear that I use this keystroke on my primary SF12 system. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [all-audio] Microphone Test
Hi, The following test comes curtesy of my friend Tom. Tom has 3 pairs of Bluetooth headphones each with a microphone as he explains in this Demo, a pair from B, a pair from B and a pair from Bose. The B and Bose pairs have noise cancelling where you hear the difference in how the microphone sounds due to processing. The B P5 pair has no noise cancelling and - in my opinion - sounds more natural. Having said that however the B and Bose pairs are not uncomfortable to listen to. Anyway judge for yourself. I forward this on as I’m sure there are a lot of list members out there wondering just how the microphones sound on headsets these days. Surprisingly - although the Sony is rated as the best noise cancelling headsets available - the microphones of these headsets sound absolutely dreadful when it comes to making phone calls. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4gnvnvryvy5zpcr/Microphone%20Test.m4a?dl=0 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Re: [all-audio] Great sounds of AM Stereo
Always interesting to hear from you on this topic. My friend with the HDR16 says that the radio is incredibly tolerant of interference and stays stubbornly locked to the HD signal though in the reverse you can't switch off HD and just stay on analogue without tuning off the station slightly, an oversight I think on Sangean's part. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of Steve Jacobson Sent: Saturday, 17 August 2019 4:54 AM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: [all-audio] Great sounds of AM Stereo Dane, Yes, I am aware of AM HD here, of course, and I do own a Sangean AM/FM HD Tuner. However, it feels as though AM HD is gradually failing, although it is hard to know what will happen. The sound is very good, but it takes very little static to cause the HD signal to not be useable and one is switched back to analog. In addition, the HD signal requires a significant limitation to the analog bandwidth so AM HD stations tend to have analog sound that is not as wide in bandwidth as other AM stations that do not have an HD signal. I live in the Metropolitan Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota, and at one point we had three AM HD stations, however we now have none at all. AM HD seems to have taken a better hold in some other large cities, though. It is fun, on occasion, to listen to HD signals from Chicago during the evening, some 400 miles, 670 kilometers, away. Those are very strong AM signals, though. [all-audio] Sound Forge 12 Question About Choosing Recording Inputs
I have Sound Forge 12 installed on two computers. ON the first one, everything works as it should. I have the Realtek line-in jack selected as primary input, and whatever I plug in there, Sound Forge dutifully records it. Not so on the second machine. The setup is just the same, but Sound Forge just doesn't record anything when I arm the window and start recording. I don't know whether this is because my inputs aren't properly selected, although the display appears exactly the same as it is on the first machine, or whether I'm not actually moving the transport as I think I am when I press the Control plus Shift plus R keystroke. And another oddity: I Have Jim Snowbarger's scripts for JAWS installed on both machines, and while Control plus Shift plus A and Control plus Shift plus R work on machine 1, they don't on machine 2, even though JAWS Key plus Q tells me the scripts are properly installed and running. Any help greatly appreciated, with my thanks in advance. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Re: [all-audio] Sangean PR-D17 AM/FM Radio for the Visually Impaired
Even internet radios have been passed by. Smart speakers will stream all internet radio sources, including those worldwide, all by voice command. And they have many other sources of audio info including thousands of podcasts and the cable and other news sources. Re: [all-audio] Great sounds of AM Stereo
Hi, Wow! What more can I say? Brian -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: all-audio@groups.io På vegne af Dane Trethowan Sendt: 16. august 2019 02:23 Til: all-audio@groups.io Emne: [all-audio] Great sounds of AM Stereo For those who have never heard the sound of Stereo AM before? Enjoy. For those who lived through the period of Stereo AM and who owned a Stereo AM tuner or radio? Sit back and remember. I found this sample of Stereo AM - from radio station 3MP in Melbourne - on Youtube. I’d love to know what type of tuner this recording was made from as the band width is quite wide. My Sony tuner was capable of this but only after it had been adjusted. Anyway hear for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPPOEIfU0bo=3573s -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
