Well not really.
The only site I have is thomann.de <http://thomann.de/> which is an European
music site.
https://www.thomann.de/se/portabel_inspelning.html?ls=25=4
Thomann Portabel inspelning
thomann.de

Or do a google search for entrance port caster on google.

Ah and Iassume the price is similar? Could you share a link to them? I tried
googling them. So as they only record up to 48 24 I guess that's all they'll
play. What on the subject of the Olympus P4 and now there's a new P5 can those
things record and or play?

Well its a small thing almost like the olympus lsp4 looks like a candybar type
device. Its mainly a recorder with music folder and fm radio. Its almost on the
level of olympus. Even the mikes feel simular.
They can record 24 bit 48 in wave and up to 320 mp3.

Well its a small thing almost like the olympus lsp4 looks like a candybar type
device. Its mainly a recorder with music folder and fm radio. Its almost on the
level of olympus. Even the mikes feel simular.
They can record 24 bit 48 in wave and up to 320 mp3.

What do these LTronix recorders look like and what do they even do? Someone
mentioned them on the Field Recording without Site What's App. What quality
sound do these things even have What sample rate and bit depth do they use? But
any ways for the original poster. Again friend me thinks EBay and Olympus are
your friends. I'd get an LS 100 if I were you. Yes the 14 has the smart mode
which I like it has the contravercial omni mic but meh I'd gone 100 if I could
have. Because it does have 2 XLR jacks and thus you can do true stereo with
true studio mics. I'd do A B or better yet ORTF. Bjut as I have the H8 I'm
gonna get it's VR H8 peace and you can bynauralize like Matthew wants or what
I'd do is make it true 5.1 surround. Ah there was the Zoom R 20 but that first

The problem with ltronix is that they still have some buggs to fix and they
don't bring out updates at all. The sound is good, but with external mikes
there are some noise and with internal mikes if you set auto gain its either
not applying it or do a bad job, and if you set to manual gain there don't seem
to be a way to adjust the gain volume as the rite arrow will split in realtime
to a new file. And up and down keys do nothing while recording.
There are also buggs in the fm radio and battery life is not as good as olympus
and zoom, so you would have to take some spairs with you when you out and about.
There is also a interview mode on the mike setting, but if I record with that
set, then no matter my mike sensitivity, it are far to distorted.
And when you turn it off then the sound is good but the volume is a bit low. So
you would need to apply some auto leveling with an app such as fairrite
recorder to bring it up afterwoards.

Re: [all-audio] Accessible Field Recorder

2023-10-09 Thread Hamit Campos
Ah Mat. Small. How small do you want? The H8 isn't pocket small. Nor is the F6
Georgina brought up. Quality wize though her suggestion is the best. The cool
thing the H8's got going for it is that it has 6 XLR jacks on it so you could
power 6 mics for 5.1 surround. I also had brought it up as you mentioned
binaural. But you could get theH3 VR. This is Olympus small and it'll do 360
audio. Which you can make Bynaural in Reaper later.

Actually, want to start with something that's easy to use, yet I can grow into
it as my skills develop. Can do without binaural if that will make things less
complicated. I also plan to use GoldWave as my sound editor, as Sound Forge is
too expensive. thoughts on a good, small, portable, yet accessible recorder?
thanks.--Matthew Chao

Yeah tghen EBay is going to be your friend here then. Cause the LS 100 is going
to be what you can get. Either this or 1 of the little mini me Olympus
machines. As I said t 100 does have menus but a British lady speaks most of
them.As for dae and time you can use Olympus's Synority software. Note you're
stuck in stereo though. No surround sound like you could do with the H8 I alspo
brought up.

I don’t mind using apps so long as they are accessible. And I don’t mind XLR
microphones if I can find small, portable yet good quality microphones. I
mostly am trying to avoid having to look for sighted assistance every time I
need to set a time and date like with the Zoom P4. Or every time there is an
issue with the card in the unit. Also, on a recent pod makers review of another
product it was noted that many of these portable recorders require us to
memorize a great deal of menu options or carry around cheat sheets. I would
rather not have to do that.

I have my MacBook Pro and my Vocaster II with my Sure microphones and iPhone 14
Pro Max setup here at home. But would rather travel without a large backpack if
possible.

No not with Voice Over as I haven't yet bought the antenna for it. Now I do
know functionqally the F app is better. In that you can almost and Gina can
correct jme where wrong but you almost can completely use the thing with it.
Wit H8 you can record pause stop. Wghich is fine as that little round record
button isn't always 1 you can trust. Meaning if you didn't hit it just right
the machine didn't record. Don't hit stop at this point as it'll pop you out of
the app. I think you can link and unlink the mics. ?But that's about all. I
don't know if the monitor stuff is accessible cause you can do monitoring

Re: [all-audio] Accessible Field Recorder

2023-10-09 Thread Georgina Joyce M0EBP She / Her
Hello Matthew,

Well it depends upon what quality it is you are striving for. Again, this is
not stated. There is a huge difference in recording a quick note to self to
that of a broadcast quality binaural outdoor sound. As I understand it, Gold
Wave is a single track editor so will limit binaural recording. I don't know if
Gold Wave can handle 32bit float. Most people who are serious about
professional recordings with sight loss use Reaper. Where years of work has
been applied to making it accessible. There are several learning resources for
you to use.

Regards,

Re: [all-audio] Accessible Field Recorder

2023-10-09 Thread Merv Keck

But would rather travel without a large backpack if
possible.

Hello,

OK, if you are looking for a stand-a-lone accessible unit. I don't think you
will find one, I'd love to be wrong on that. A lot of devices now-a-days have a
companion app. So I immediately thought of the Zoom F6. But there is so much
faffing around to get the bluetooth connecting to the app. When it is it is
very usable.

Which also prompts me to comment, I would have thought a part of your criteria
should be 32bit float recording. Thus worrying about audio levels is taken
away. Which means the Zoom F3, a lovely little 2 XLR recorder and pairing it to
the app is a lot easier than the F6.

There are walk-throughs of both recorders from the blind pod makers group.

Good luck!

2023-10-09 Thread Matthew Chao via groups.io
Am looking for the same thing:  preferably, a recorder that can do both
stereo and binaural.  Thanks in advance.--Matthew Chao

Greetings:
I recently saw a review of the Portcaster. It was a little more than I needed
and I am not really intrigued with the Zoom P4. I don’t really want to memorize
menus as I would prefer accessibility before usability.

I am anticipating being out and about more in the near future and would like to
have a portable recording option that is accessible. And has recording quality
for use in Podcasts. I like the idea of using up to two external microphones if
possible. but I can adapt.

I looked on Sweetwater since I live in the United States. But under portable
recorders I saw a lot of menu driven recorders with touch screens.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Merv
