Due to user demand I currenty implement a rudimentary OSS plugin for
GSMP. I test it with the ALSA emulation but select on file-descripter
doesn't seem to work. I use:

I have a card based on the ad1816a chip and it works fine in Alsa 0.5. I
haven't been able to get it to work with Alsa 0.9.

I have to answer my own question...
seems I had compiled sound support into the kernel instead of as a
module... and that ALSA didn't like..
problem solved...

but when I know try to get my soundcard (AOpen aw744 pro) working I get
no sound. when I recompiled the modules with --with-debug=full I see

The motherboard is an Intel I815. So I used the intel8x0 driver.
