external MIDI events through my card's joystick
port (which I now believe is the MPU401).
So I'm recompiling everything.
One thing I've noticed: the emu10k1 drivers seem
to have their own

Hi,
the alsa-lib cvs tree now includes the part of alsa-kernel header
files.
this means that you do NOT have to install alsa-driver in advance
before building alsa-lib any longer. you can comiple alsa-lib alone.
this brings a bit increase of source code lines, but who cares? :)
please note

Hi,
I think this probably isn't the best place to ask these questions, but
there doesn't seem to be a Bristol email list. (Or any that I found yet.
I'm looking for clues as to why Bristol would, on my AP2496/RME machine,
have very low sound output. I assumed it might be an alsamixer issue,
Specific answers inline.
High-level questions:
1) Is there a good debugging guide? I'm guessing
that ALSA experts have a checklist, like
- check kernel config
- check alsa build config
- check /etc/modules.conf
- check lsmod
- etc.
2) I just tried the Creative
