[Alsa-user] VIA 8233 in eMachines M6811
I've been having problems with certain software's (openal, artsd) ALSA output being transposed up ~1 tone. Today I figured out that it had to do with the dxs support, and eventually settled on dxs_support=5, which works perfectly. However, I think it's likely that the issue with transposition is a bug related to resampling of output to 48000, since it went away when dxs_support was set to 1,2, or 5 (I didn't try 4, and I really don't know what VRA is). So, two things: 1 - my soundcard works best with dxs_support=5, in my opinion2 - there are wierd issues either with resampling, or with the way openal and artsd output to alsa.Another issue is that while trying to fix the problem, I played with the rate plugin in /etc/asound.conf, and it didn't work at all with any of the offending apps. However, as I'm writing this, I just briefly tested the rate plugin with amarok-xine, and it works fine with slave.rate at both 44100 and 48000, assuming I didn't make a mistake configuring it.lspci -v00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. [Alsa-user] Creative Audigy Platinum - problems with the mixer
Hello there! I have serious problem with my Audigy Platinum card. The alsamixer shows just few output channels: Line, CD, Phone, PC Speaker, Aux, Digital Out, External Amp. But my card have much more outputs, Aux 2, Line in 2, SPIDF in and out and headphones output (on the front panel). I need to get my headphones output working - it doesnt play :-( How to configure this? Alsa finds this card as Audigy 1 (SB0090). Lee - I don't know if I can explain it much better, but here's another attempt. ANY sound just echoes for several seconds almost like the problem is due to conflicting interrupts. If I play a brief tone ( 1 sec.), the tone will just echo for several seconds. Imagine listening to a longer segment of audio in this manner. The result is just a continuous jumble of echoes. Other users of similar hardware must be experiencing the same problem. I haven't done ANYTHING other than upgrade from the 2.6.16.1 kernel to the 2.6.17 kernel with a slightly newer (Hg) version of ALSA. I haven't done ANYTHING other than upgrade from the 2.6.16.1 kernel to the 2.6.17 kernel with a slightly newer (Hg) version of ALSA. Remember, this problem has been worsening throughout the life cyle of the 2.6.16.x kernels. HTH I think you are hitting a known bug that's caused not by ALSA but by a buggy PCI quirk for VIA chipsets. It's a regression introduced during the 2.6.16.x series. It has been discussed on LKML and should be fixed in the first 2.6.17 stable release. Anyway, they are asking to fill a form from your, not somebody else's, IP address, and the http://win.mail.ru/cgi-bin/support_bl?ip=216.158.38.3 page has an English form to be filled - see English version in the lower half of the page. [Alsa-user] monaural ALSA mixes
Why does aplay take a sound, such as Front_Right.wav and play it over both speakers? for example: #cd /usr/share/sounds/asla #aplay Front_Right.wav - The sound comes out both the speakers I have connected to my card. Whereas speaker-test can keep the speakers separate: #speaker-test -c6 -tsine -f800 - this produces a fuzz sound, but it will cycle through all five channels of my sound card. I am currently listening to two of them and the sound is on one speaker, and then the other. I have a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit 7.1 card. the driver is snd-ca0106 I compiled ALSA 1.0.9rc4 (driver, lib, util, but not the tools) My kernel is 2.6.8-2.386 Any help would be appreciated. ___ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
