I tried very long to get working Audigy 2zs (no platinum) streaming compressed

Try to use spdif device (for example in xine there is option to enable
AC3 passthrough, but xine must by compiled with alsa enabled).

in the kernel, and first FC2 build. The install detected both the VX222
and the onboard sound chip: 2.6.6-1.383

Yeah, you need the firmware to have the mixers.
Use vxloader (from the alsa-tools package) to initialize the card.

I have installed the alsa package for the vxp440 card. 4 microphones
are connected to the sound cards. However, I can only record sound from 2
microphones that labeled 'in 1' and 'in 2'.
'$ ls /dev/snd' gives me
