inexpensive, i am not audiophile.
I have noticed that there are not that many sound cards out there which

Hi Paul.
I'd suggest to try couple of things:
1) try to disable all other sound services, like pulseaudio(default in
ubuntu)/jack/esd/etc.
2)try "alsamixer", there could be a switch somewhere which you turn, and
it might enable rest of speakers. Switch's name may not necessary

Hello Clemens,
I understand, that 'pcm.!default()' overwrites default settings of default
device, but why not? Or philosophy goes as: create new device and connect
programs over their Alsa settings?
But than, a lot of programs don't even have Alsa settings. YOu cant change
sound devices, or anythi

Hello Phil,
I am no dev nor very experienced user, however, I'd try to isolate issue.
See if alsamixer(console app) is changing in any way. If it shows all
channels and everything after the reboot - problem could be with GUI tools.

Hello Dear Linux ALSA Nerds!
I need a suggestion.

Hello Alfa-Alsa geeks!
I have a need.
I have either very sensitive mic or problematic sound card.
I catch a bit of a noise, that sounds like my PC coolers(which are not
too loud...)
I want to cut noise in VOIP services, so apps which cut out noise post

So I need a replacement.
Can someone suggest USB sound card please that will have decent sound
and will have 3.5 mic input please?

Kubuntu/pulseaudio and for a simple 2 input system it's worked well
for me.
