While I'm building the latest release I thought I'd try specifying portranges so I can tighten up some firewall rules. My attempts with an earlier version failed miserably (Amanda didn't like my port ranges at runtime) but I recall seeing that issue was fixed. According to the 2.4.3

I noticed my Exabyte EZ17 Autoloader needs an mt -f /dev/rmt/0 retension every now and then to make it happy or it gets i/o errors. They are relatively new tapes and it seems if I haven't picked up one of the tapes with the robot in a week or so, and nothing has been done with it it fails

Although I could fix it by making that change, that would only fix it in the shell script chg-zd-mtx... it appears amtape is compiled to call tr as well, which I am not skilled enough to fix. You can tell this because chg-zd-mtx -slot works but amtape slot 1 doesn't (thinks the slot number is 0
