While I'm building the latest release I thought I'd try specifying
portranges so I can tighten up some firewall rules. My attempts
with an earlier version failed miserably (Amanda didn't like my port
ranges at runtime) but I recall seeing that issue was fixed.
According to the 2.4.3
I get this:
[root@bolla libexec]# su bin -c
/opt/amanda/sbin/amtape daily slot 3
amtape: could not load slot 0: illegal request
However I can do this:
[root@bolla libexec]# ./chg-zd-mtx -slot 1

[root@bolla libexec]#
But... I did have to fix this in the script:
(chg-zd-mtx):
Ok. so this did it.
This should be in the faq! maybe I missed it.

Wow, solaris sucks!
Let me install the gnu one and see if that fixed my

I noticed my Exabyte EZ17 Autoloader needs an mt -f

tapes with the robot in a week or so, and nothing has

Although I could fix it by making that change, that
would only fix it in the shell script chg-zd-mtx... it
appears amtape is compiled to call tr as well, which I

You can tell this because chg-zd-mtx -slot works but
amtape slot 1 doesn't (thinks the slot number is 0

Well, the other thing I didn't think about is it could
be a timeout since I am not at the device itself most
of the time. I say this because I noticed
occasionally the drive will clean itself without a
request (this is because of the 225m autocleaning
tapes). It could be if you load a tape and
