I need to backup a 18G directory(/terrasky/tslibrary) which contains 12
subdirectories.
Currently, using the disklist example in the documentation for large files,
my disklist looks like this : -

DON'T edit your disklist between the dumps (only edit when you add/modify

Hi, is possible to make AMANDA use a hard disk instead a tape??
If not, would it be difficult to chage the AMANDA´s source code or

Yes, it is possible. Read the HOWTO-FILE-DRIVER in
After changing the IP on my amanda server, many of my clients fail

(not in /etc/hosts), running host on the clients returns the proper

all my clients.

I have run into this problem before with NIS when ypbind crashed on
some of the clients--this has been a chronic problem for me with Linux
talking to IRIX NIS servers. Consequently, I put the amanda host IP,
amanda user and group IDs in the local files so that ypbind crashing

I have worked on a related issue.
I figured out a procedure for creating bar-coded tape labels
for use in DLT changers like the L25.
(Now, I just need to figure out how to talk to it :-)
If there's any interest, please email me.

Hello Amanda Users,
I'm running
IRIX 6.5.19
amanda 2.4.2p2
MTX 1.3.8
MTX itself seems to work correctly (see output below).
However I'm unable to get proper replies either from the
glue script nor from amanda (which one would expect with
a problem with the level underneath).
Greetings.
We have been running Amanda on E4500/DLT7000 flawlessly for years.
Now, we got a Fireserver with a Sun L25 library and we want amanda to
be able to use it. (we are on FS4800 with Solaris 8)
(I believe the Tape Robot is also known as ATL 1500)
I started with MTX, and it seemed to

Jon,
Frank,
Thank you - I was able to debug with your help and quickly realized
that the driveslot wasn't set properly, updating the conf file and

I'm testing amanda 2.4.4p2 on mix of FreeBSD stable/current and

to dump its /root and /etc directories. The /etc dump
seems to work fine, but when it dumps /root, it takes the
I ended up creating some scripts that use GNU Barcode and Label Nation
to print DLT barcodes on Avery labels.
Had it running for two years. ;]
If you're interested, I'll share.
