Bernhard,
Changing wait=no fixed my problem, but I don't understand why. It worked
before with wait=yes until I switched out my name servers. I am happy for
now, but would like to understand...

I am having exactly the same problem and cannot find an answer. The really
annoying part is that this was working just fine last week when I recovered
some files for the same server that is now complaining. My fails all look
similar to Mr. Smith. There have been two changes since last week. We

Radu,
I used to have one of those tape drives and it kept doing the same thing to
me as well. Only difference was that I was using it with NT and BackupExec.
The only short term fix was to turn the drive on and off, then restart the
device drivers for BackupExec. After replacing the drive twice
Please try the following patch. It will not fix anything, but will log
the exit code of all the processes driver starts, in particular, the
messed up dumpers. Actually, it will only log them if they indicate some
kind of failure, but I'd be surprised if they are going away cleanly.

I have not reset the chunksize from it's default so it is still at whatever

Attached is the Amanda report from the backup that I just completed, which
should have been a Full Backup forced by a dumpcycle of 0 and runspercycle

am I getting all the dump to tape failed which pair up with the No
I am also having the same problem, but it is spread across all of my
machines. It does appear to be concentrated on the larger partition, but not
always. I am using dump universally on all machines, and have compiled
versions installed on all clients except for the two 7.1 machines where I
used
Thanks Sean,
Looks like it is time to bite the bullet and get rid of the RPM versions. I
will let you know if that fixes the problem.

Did anybody ever give you an answer to this as it is the same type of setup
that I am attempting to do as well? The book mentions that you need to do
something with amadmin -force, but I thought that was how you forced it to
DO a full dump.

A quick drive around the block to return some rental videos may have brought

first made sure I had clients up on each machines I wanted to backup and

I haven't gotten to an actual dump yet, but I have the client passing an

Hi everyone! I am a new Amanda user and am trying to get it setup and
working. I am setting up my backup machine which is configured as follows:

backup/data disk

There is actually a really good write-up online or you can purchase the
O'Reilly Book Unix Backup Recover. It was enough for me to at least get
started...
