Thanks for mentioning this. I had forgotton someone bought the rights to the

Had a Knight T-60 transmitter as a Novice. I had tapped the power supply for
some reason through the rear plug. When whatever that project was over,
rather than remove the wire, I cut them off.
Went to change coax and, as I leaned over and reached behind, I accidentally
keyed the transmitter as my

Amen John!
When I first bought a DX-100 at a swap, I took it to work and carried it up
two flights to the workshop. (worked for a radio station) Got it up there
and thought "dang, I must be getting old 'er something" Sat down, put feet

was on the wire, they would "Put A Lid On It" .. Bad ops became known as
"lids" and today we still use the term, "Put a Lid On It" when we don't what

I love the translation!! The term "Lid" apparently comes from the landline
telegraph days, where there would be multiple op's in one room transmitting
and receiving different messages at the same time. The sounders sounded
pretty much alike so some ops attached a piece of metal (a can lid perhaps)
That proved to me once and for all, that both the Extra class
licence and the 1X2 callsign format had lost what significance they might
ever have had, so I decided to hold on to my original callsign.

I've read the posts, thank-you all. From my aging memory I believe Bob is
right on target, and yes, rtty can go and go and go. I try to keep the

I hope you have access to a nice strong youthful helper I hired the local
Boy Scouts to move my boat anchors including the Apache, DX-100, the linears
etc etc. Naturally I supervised closely to prevent any "testosterone" moments.
Of all the rigs only one was damaged and that could have happened
speaking of the DX series, at reduced power whats the max key down time say
with rtty on these or other rigs like the DX-100 or Apaches??
