I wouldn't want to try to dive into a laptop and replace the sound card. To me,
the innards of a laptop are close to the same as the innards of a ladies' swiss

plug into a USB port.

Bernie, your experience with the SDR-IQ has about convinced me to save my
money. I had entertained the idea of purchasing one, but maybe I'd better
at least wait till they work some of the bugs out of it.
Here is another digital gadget (software only) that I am considering. It
would convert a
with it. It
does make a great bandscope, and an excellent piece of test gear. And they
are not terribly expensive. Bernie

HI Brett: yep I have tried every setting that I can change. I have never

Hi Bernie,
I have gone back and forth on the receive audio question with my rigs.
I have never had a PC controlled receiver, but I have a Kenwood TS870
which is a 24 bit dsp firmware receiver. I have the 1000MP Mk V also
and I agree that the stock audio is not very good. I widened the
stock 6
I found the issue, it apparently needed a sound card with more guts,
installed a mid range card yesterday ($42) ran the audio through the NBFM
plug on the 75A2 so I can flop back and forth. It is now similar with a
slight difference due to sloping passband Vs near vertical drop on the sdr.

I've been thinking about getting the SDR-IQ, but I'd like to know more

love to team it to my IC-746, but there is no IF output readily

of the filter slots, but
, if you want really good performance
you have to pay for it.
