One of my first antennas put up in Alaska was a simple 2m J-Pole. I
used the upper portion of a TV mast and used a 1/4 wave section of
copper tubing clamped 3/4 wave length below the top end of the
mast. Attaching coax to the stub and mast at a point to give a
50-ohm match.
My Olympus DS-2 is pretty bad. In either play or record mode,
I get wide processor noise on both 2m and 435 if it

like power-line buzz noise. If I use a direct line-in

Hi All,
We are seeing the reports that AO-51 is down (as of about 1345 utc 18
April 2011). Thank you for the notification.
Hopefully it's just another battery trip event. I'll do my best to
get it going during the 2100 utc pass today.

I Tnx Jay (AA4FL), Alvaro (XE2AT) and Doug (W3HH) for QSOs done during
this week on AO7 Mode B. All of them with the sat just a few degrees
up. Jay recorded our QSO (it was on cw) and also part of the QSO with
Alvaro. Jay have also loaded the audio of these (and other fine) QSOs

Do any of the pass prediction tools (win, dos, or linux) give you a
listing of passes for multiple satellites in chronological order?
i.e. imagine printing out 3 days of AO-51, AO-27, SO-50, etc
and sorting them all together in chronological order. No graphics
needed... just AOS and LOS
WinAOS, part of the SatPC32 suite, does exactly what you asked.

Bill,
The WinAos part of the SATPC32 suite does this:

So does Orbitron - www.stoff.pl

Sorry, couldn't resist, though I should have.
The earlier deployment was scrubbed in favor of an ad hoc test, with
deployment scheduled for an EVA in July. The reasons/logic for all this are
somewhat convoluted and was covered in a detailed
Bill,
As others have pointed out, SATPC32, Sold by AMSAT as a fundraiser, Has 2
ways to do what you want-
1. Under programs tab, Winaos does this and you select what time period you
require the info for.
2. Under ACCY tab, the countdown feature lets you open a window that
indicates next passes
Thanks, Dale. I did get confirmation from Nick KB1RVT that it came on.
I'll grab some telemetry and tweak a few settings on the next pass.
The eclipse periods keep getting longer and longer, and the sun angle
seems to be getting worse and worse...so there is less sunlight
available to charge
I believe Orbitron does.

Hi Clint, K6LCS
It seems that your UTC / GMT time in http://tinyurl.com/sat-track is not
correct.
There is only one hour difference from my local time instead of two.

Hi Bill,
WINAOS workes fine - but you can also use NOVA.
All you need is a window with more that one satellite and pres Script
Tracking.

Field day will be here before we know it. Last year we had AO-51 with mode S
activated. What if any plans are there for this year? With the power budget
as it is what can we plan on?

I use a spreadsheet method. I use the amsat.org passes predictor,
highlight (select) the data from the web page, copy, then paste each
bird output into a different tab of an Excel spreadsheet. An Excel
macro adds another column that only contains the sat. name.
Then I made some more macros to
Hi Bob,
I think it's safe to say that we won't be running S-band. We haven't planned
that far ahead, but I expect we'll be in mode V/U simply because of eclipses
and the battery.
Or we could run 9600 baud packet instead :)

I've never used it, since I'm a Satpc32 user (and lover!).
