[amsat-bb] Radioskaf, not radioskaf?

2011-09-25 Thread Gordon JC Pearce
I was listening out for ARISSat on the 8am GMT (-ish) pass this morning, and heard nothing from it. On 145.919 I heard the following tones though: http://www.gjcp.net/~gordonjcp/notradioskaf.ogg At first I thought it was a beacon on ARISSat, but they didn't get any stronger during the pass.

[amsat-bb] A Modest Proposal

The bulletin board system AMSAT is using is well suited for information that is useful for only a relatively short time. If there is a trip to a rare grid location that information is of little use after the event takes place. IMHO what is missing is a way to share information that has relevance

[amsat-bb] ARISSat in sunlight

2011-09-25 Thread John Heath
Interesting thread regarding  MET and ARISSat-1 switch on.   Someone made the very good point that the transition in or out of sunlight (eclipse) is not an on/off event. I remember many MIR visuals, and as she passed from sunlight in the west to darkness in the east there was a significant

[amsat-bb] ARISSat in sunlight

2011-09-25 Thread Simon Pack
Using Orbitron 3.71 software, I can tell that the penumbral duration today was 9 seconds. However, this will vary in the future as the angle of the orbit to the sun changes. However, the first sunlight the satellite will get will be very red (due to the blue light scatter caused by the

Does this bulletin board have a 'files' section like a Yahoo Group? In a Yahoo Group, that can be done and questions that are recurring can be stored and a new questioner can be referred to that file, if no one is inclined to answer the question. If not, maybe its time to make the AMSAT board a
