I was very saddened to learn of John's passing. We had exchanged many e-mails during the last few years. I didn't know John very well, although we had met at the ASAT-UK Colloquium on several occasions. Topics we discussed by e-mail included processing Delphi 3C telemetry, OSCAR-11 spin rate,

Memories of John are bittersweet... I first worked John on AO-10 in 1999 (from Texas) and met him a year later at an amsat-uk colloquium in 2000. I had worked John from Russia on FO-20 a few months before as R3/K5OE and we exchanged cards at Surrey. I looked forward to meeting up with him

I have been deeply hurt by the death of John. I know him for a very long time and I highly respected him. We had so many good and fruitful discussions about telemetry and analysis of data. As Andy said, with his good contacts to the Russians he was a very important person for us. He built a bridge

Sad to hear that John is gone. He was one of the first QSO's I had in 1993 on RS10. After that we had QSOs on many of the satellites. I also remember him from the AMSAT-UK Colloquia where he helped to introduce new users to satellites. Always friendly and good to talk with. The last 3 to 4 years
