[android-developers] Re: Fwd: Regarding the Android application development

2011-09-15 Thread nexbug
WOW... Back in our days we had to actually code stuff.

But seriously, I think what you will have to do is first break down
your problem into smaller.parts and then Google for solutions to your
smaller problems.

Also, try not to mention your employers name here or high level
details of the project. The end customer who likely paid millions to
get it developed may feel scammed.

Just saying and no offence intended.. coz I'm noticing more blatant
requests for code here, and am guessing this is how outsourcing works
at least in some houses..

[android-developers] Re: How to publish Motorolo Xoom Build to market

2011-02-22 Thread nexbug
bigger problem is that apps built on the preview SDK dont seem to want
to install on the XOOM. the device is out in the next few days, but we
cant publish HC apps to it.
does anyone have any ideas on publishing 3.0 apps to the market ? Or
are XOOM users going to get turned off by the lack of 3.0 written
apps ?
The one thing we were hoping to avoid is to have end users pick the
smartphone app on the XOOM since our tablet app would not show up in
the market.
I was excited to see the preview SDK, but that was shortlived.

showing the symptom ?
if you do find it, do publish..

a simple approach is to use the AlertDialog as

bldr.setPositiveButton(R.string.yes, new
DialogInterface.OnClickListener(){
@Override
public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) {

}
});

bldr.setNegativeButton(R.string.no, new
DialogInterface.OnClickListener(){
@Override
public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) {
// code for NO
}
});

bldr.show();

what was the reason you didnt like that approach ?

[android-developers] Re: Application losing SharedPreferences and Sqlite database on Droid

Part of the answer probably lie in this file :
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=blob;f=core/java/android/database/sqlite/SQLiteDatabase.java

look for the method called onCorruption().

Why it would ever be called is beyond me, but seems to happen as time
goes by and the memory usage goes up. Only way out that we found was
to simply restart the app once in a while.

Basically you can get a subscription to their site for a nominal fee
and they will give you access to pirated android apps. The same apps
that you publish for a fee, the seem to download them from the market
by paying you once and distribute to their paid users for free. Nice
business model. I think Google has been notified of these guys a
hundred times, but i dont think anyone cares, assuming that these
folks may not be making a dent big enough to justify any action.
I guess this is the flipside of playing on an open platform.. focus on
building a better product and worry less about the bottom-feeders.

I was hopeful "other important information" meant it would work as the

Many users rely on changing status lights on the other devices, and
this could be a blow to some of them who want to move to the N1.

Like buying a high end car and realizing it doesnt have a rear view
mirror :-). I guess no one who dogfooded this one ever needed the
traditional notification lights.. The pulsing trackball is NOT a step
ahead if you know what i mean, its a really nice thing, but not at the
expense of the original LED notification scheme.

Users reporting that the notification lights are not working as on
earlier devices(let alone LED color customization). Have been chasing
around trying to figure this out until i realized none of the apps are
showing the flashing notification which we have all come to expect on
the device. Not even SMS messages.

I am sure the dog-fooders used the phone long enough to notice that
the typical flashing notification light on top never seems to light up
for notifications. Maybe its only to indicate charging..

While the pulsing trackball is nice, it is not as noticeable, and its
colors cannot be manipulated.

[android-developers] Nexus and notification light

2010-01-08 Thread nexbug
Anyone ever been observing that the usual flashing lights which used
to work on the Droid when you set a notification does not work anymore
on the nexus, or is it just me ?
the pulsing light is cool, but does not honor colors.
