Very nice!

I'm planning on writing about Processing, OSC, and Animata in my EBook
Kinect Hacking for Artists.

I also discuss OSC and Processing in the partner book, OSC for Artists.

See http://www.justthebestparts.com

I gave a talk about Animata at a local artists group and used OSCeleton
to control characters, but also use TouchOSC (a phone app) proxied
through Processing to manipulate layer alphas and background animation.

Re: [animata-users] animata and processing

2010-12-15 Thread jacob sikker remin

hej group,

the library (github.com/zeni/animatap5 ) works great!

i can load animata files and changes them with no problem :) it is a lot
of fun. but it is also very easy to break the animations with altered
settings, so i would like to read their default values and relate my
modifications to these values.

so, i have a question for accessing the Bone class inside the Skeleton
class - i am browsing through the source code, and i can see values like
name, scale, maxScale, minScale are public. but how do i read these
values from processing? can someone help me through the structure of the
classes?

attached is one animata file for reference. in this case, i am
interested in reading the scale, maxScale and minScale from the bones
named upper_left, upper_middle and upper_right in the layer
upper_lip.

please, can someone give me an example or guide me in the right direction?

thanks!
best,
jacob

I'd try fiddling with the Transparency or Matte setting when you export the
PNG to start with - it seems like it's not getting a high enough bit depth
on the alpha channel.
Alternatively it might be a problem with your image dimensions - do you
still get the same problem at a lower resolution? Can you try making a PNG
that is 1024x1024 and see if you have any problems with that? (Internally
everything gets converted to squares so there might be some problem with the
conversion process that takes place on import)

Re: [animata-users] Animata OSC Plugin for Quartz Composer

2010-03-11 Thread Gabe Shaughnessy
thank you very much matti, good work, thanks for sharing this with us. I
love the qtz plugin already, this just makes it even better.

2010/3/11 Matti Niinimäki m...@mansteri.com

 Hey Animata-people,

I have updated my Animata OSC pugin for Quartz Composer. It now takes
advantage of the Z position attribute that was added to the available OSC
messages in Animata a while ago. Basically, this allows you to move layers
in the Z-axis and do zooming with the camera.

I also added the option to change the IP address and port in case you would
need to send the OSC messages from another computer running Quartz Composer.

Download link and more info here:

ended up running fltk-config and installing GLU, seems I had some

Everything (including OSC) is running nicely!

I'm a VJ and I found the most cross-platform and convenient way to achieve
this in a live situation is to record audio and video output to a DV cam

This method can be useful in the studio as well of course.

you either add them later in a video editor software or record it
