According to Kartik Mistry, apertium-eng-ita shouldn't be enabled in
Mediawiki Content Translation at all (it's incubator, not released).
Though they do have Google Translate and other MT systems doing eng-ita
there.

By Metawiki, do you mean the wikipedia content translation system
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Content_translation
or something else?

Re: [Apertium-stuff] Error in translation English-Italian

2023-02-24 Thread Hèctor Alòs i Font
l'inglese e l'italiano in Apertium, molto probabilmente è solo perché
qualcuno ha imparato come funziona il motore di traduzione.
Cordiali saluti,
Hèctor

Re: [Apertium-stuff] Error in translation English-Italian

2023-02-24 Thread Hèctor Alòs i Font
I'm a bit surprised that Apertium's eng-ita is used anywhere since it is
not released. But I am even more surprised that Wikimedia uses a
non-released pair while it is not using even some of the released ones. In
fact, I have been asking Wikimedia without any success for several years to
incorporate the new language pairs and the new versions we have released.
It is very disappointing, for example, for the Arpitans, who cannot
generate articles on their Wikipedia much more easily because Wikimedia has
not made available the translator that we have had available for three
years. The same goes for Sardinian and, I think, for Silesian. If someone
could fix this once and for all, several linguistic minorities will be very
grateful.

As for eng-ita, I'm afraid that correcting the bug in Apertium could not
solve the problem as Wikimedia does not seem to be updating its Apertium
translators. In fact, it is even possible that the error has already been
corrected in Apertium for some time and has not been changed.

[Apertium-stuff] Error in morph analysis mode of beta.apertium.org

2020-04-03 Thread Juan Pablo

Dear all,

I went to beta.apertium.org because I wanted to easily showcase other
people the lemmatization that can be achieved with Apertium. So, I tried
to use the "morphological analysis" on that web server, but it gives
"error" as an output (My interest was for Aragonese and Catalan, but it
happens the same for the rest of languages i tried).

https://beta.apertium.org/index.arg.html?choice=arg=Esto%20ye%20una%20prebatina#analyzation

Could someone check it that is something easy to solve? Is there some
alternative web-based service were the morphological analysis is output?

Best regards,
Juan Pablo

Hi,

It takes some practice to read error messages. This one says that it
failed to parse somewhere on/after line 6. In your , you should
have only elements (that's what "expecting (sdef)+" means), but
instead it found a CDATA in between all those sdefs. CDATA is e.g. plain
text, not xml. You would get such an error if you had e.g.

SOME TEXT HERE

(You may want to try http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Apertium-viewer which
has an XML editor that can catch dix errors.)

If it works, it will enable a reduction of the dictionary by several
thousands of lines (and similarly afterwards in the bidix).

I've put a single word with this paradigm, which even does not enter
in the oci-fra dictionary. I can compile both apertium-oci and

echo "château" | apertium -d . fra-oci

Can you give the lexical entry?

I've defined in the apertium-oci dictionary the following paradigm:

If it works, it will enable a reduction of the dictionary by several
thousands of lines (and similarly afterwards in the bidix).

I've put a single word with this paradigm, which even does not enter in the
oci-fra dictionary. I can compile both apertium-oci and apertium-oci-fra
without any warnings, but when I try to translate from fra to oci I get:

Error: Invalid dictionary (hint: the left side of an entry is empty)

In the other side there is no problem:

> echo "castèl" | apertium -d . oci-fra
château

The problem is the new paradigm. If I comment it, the error disappears.

Any solution or workaround?

Hi,

Thanks for the help. The problem is solved. It occurred because my Makefile

This happens at the morphological analyser level too.

The output for echo आखणी | apertium-destxt | lt-proc

The word is not present in the monodix. So, is that the reason of this

[Apertium-stuff] Error: Invalid dictionary (hint: entry beginning with whitespace)

2012-01-04 Thread Pim Otte
Hello everyone,

I'm merging in some work from a student and the dictionaries compile,
but then when running ./testvoc.sh from apertium-af-nl/dev, i get
the following output

abbr00 0 0 100
===

==Dutch-Afrikaans=
Error: Invalid dictionary (hint: entry beginning with whitespace)
Wed Jan 4 21:49:15 CET 2012

adj 3622 3622 0 0 100
vbser 00 0 0 100

Afrikaans-Dutch is fine.

Now, http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Lttoolbox#Troubleshooting suggest
grepping as follows:

pim-oneiric@pim-K53SV:~/source/apertium-af-nl$ lt-expand
apertium-af-nl.nl.dix | grep ^:
pim-oneiric@pim-K53SV:~/source/apertium-af-nl$

But there seem to be no entries with this problem. various variations
such as ^[ ]+: also give no hits.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Pim

2012-01-04 Thread Pim Otte
That doesn't give any hits either. (I also tried it without the
backslash, since that would match a starting whitespace on either
side, which i think is what you intended.)

The makefile is out of date. The newer versions use xslt to handle
dialectal variation (v=cat for Catalan, v=val for Valencian), so
you would need to copy the files from the toplevel Makefile that
handle this. I'll have a look at it, later.

Re: [Apertium-stuff] Error in compiling es-ca

2011-02-04 Thread Francis Tyers
Nope, I didn't touch anything else. If I comment out the paradigm and
entry for 'urls' it works fine.

I checked the diff:

+e lm=San VicenteiSanb/Vicente/ipar n=Afganistán__np//e

+eplSanb/Vicente/lrSantb/Vicents n=np//r/p/e

+e lm=Sant VicentiSantb/Vicent/ipar n=Afganistan__np//e

And I don't change anything else, so I have uploaded the changes. I
guess the error might be to do with my version of libxml or something.

[Apertium-stuff] Error running unsupervised tagger training

2011-01-22 Thread Hèctor Alòs i Font
I'm not able to generate a new prob file. I'm being having the same problem
when the programme begins to run Kupiec's algorithm (i.e. just after it
finishes the generation of the fr.crp file). The error still exist using
different training corpus. The dictionary has more than 40,000 entries and
the corpora 800-900 M words (with one of them I could generate the current
prob file six months ago). Coverage is c. 96%. That's the output I receive:

make -f fr-eo-unsupervised.make

PS
The fr.crp which is generated at the beginning of the process seems to me
very small: just 390 lines. If it should be a list of all ambiguous forms,
it should have thousands of them.
