I bought my first Specware instrument in 2001, and it was a huge improvement over manual judging and logging of environmental data - I believe that you and I are using different versions, as my program does not have the features you describe - I always felt the 'actual degree days' data was a

thank you Dave for the time and effort you put into this post - short of input from specmeters, I'll slightly exaggerate and say that the Cornell model will predict scab infection after a short heavy dew, while the WA model requires rainforest conditions for a couple of days before it indicates

Just remembered the fireblight trigger is reset by entering last spray date in disease model options, not the model start date, which IS the best way to reset the scab model. Brian Heatherington Beech Creek Farms and Orchards Tallapoosa, GA ___

David, I've been using Specware for about 12 years with great success in targeting sprays for scab and especially fireblight. I don't recall ever seeing the Mills and Wash. models in disagreement, but I admit I usually just go with the Mills model. The Cornell model has always signaled infect

Hi! I agree with both Dave and Daniel, but let me add a grain of salt: All infection events are not equal. Plain infection models tell you nothing about ascospore availability & discharge. Conditions may be right for spores to infect... but infection only occurs IF spores are both mature and ej

Dave's right, the Mills model is Al Jones from about 1980. The WA model is actually the original Bill Mills model from the 40's, and the Cornell model is Gadoury, Stensvand and Seem's 1994 revision. Nice overview, Dave. I haven't checked, but there may be differences between the Cornell model an

Hello, David -- I really don't know how the Spectrum instruments are programmed, and I don't know what they are using for the Washington scab model. Thus, this response may be of limited usefulness. I suspect that that the differences between the Cornell and the Mills (MI) models relate to
