Consider BT crops and you can estimate there are many crops grown with GMO events that derive from non-plant species. (Bt = Bacillus thuringiensis toxin for lepidopteran (possibly other) insect control.) Not sure the derivation of the round-up ready gene, but this is also a large-acreage-use GMO
