It does remove the rest though, thankfully.

this is expected if any other package Recommends or Suggests hdparm.
So please tell us: Do you have any of these packages ins

APT::Install-Suggests .

But you instead only mention its antidote,
APT::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant .

I was indeed not aware of that configuration option, probably because
I wouldn't dare to use it. But that's probably because I personally
rely a lot on Recommends and Suggest to keep
