You are using Intel graphics and you also have Nvidia available.
Generally, Nvidia is added to a computer for gaming, mining, streaming
improvements.

Getting your drivers - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#Installation

Configuring -

- If this is not what you want, please write back.

Hi Bjoern,

my config file already looks like this:

Section "Device"
   Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
   Driver  "intel"
   Option  "AccelMethod"  "uxa"
#   Option  "AccelMethod"  "none"
EndSection

"uxa" is already the alternative setting, so I'd expect it to work.
However, I can try to set it to any other value tomorrow morning (as
I've finally got my Laptop up and working in the meantime, at least for
today ;-) ).

Kind regards
Peter

Hi,

as noted, I'd guess I've got problems with Xorg, which cause Firefox to
crash. Probably some of the improvements in Quantum are just depending
on a more stable Xorg, e.g. correctly initialised modules.

For a first review, I add the output of lspci and lsmod - please tell
me, what else You may need, as I don't have a deep knowledge, sorry. But
I still want to learn ;-)

can you change AccelMethod to check if the issues still happen?

Hi Peter,

Quantum has been performing well for me along with X with Intel graphics. Can
you provide for us your drivers and hardware information please?

Thanks,

Sorry, forgot to mention I'm using XFCE.

This isn't such a big problem, so I didn't ask for that before.

Since Firefox changed to Quantum, I've got another problem with
browser windows, which might be related:
Browser windows don't open correctly, content often isn't shown. This
_is_ a problem for me, as I don't want to look for everything again.

Did anybody else have the same problems? How can I solve these?

Kind regards
