All,
We are thinking of barcoding *both* our boxes and our shelves using
ArchivesSpace. The thought is that by doing both we would have better inventory
control and the ability to scan a box/shelf and retrieve information about it
quickly. Have any of you done this? What were the pros and cons
I hope someone can assist me with this. When I try to load a folder-title list
for a series via a spreadsheet I get the following error: ERROR: Error(s)
detected: Processing stopped at row 0 [Some system error has occurred
[undefined method `each' for #].] The odd thing
is that I have loaded 2
I was wondering if anyone is incorporating disaster preparedness as part of
collection management in Archivesspace. For example, identifying collections
for priority evacuation/salvage and then producing a report that lists those
collections and their locations. People might have even decided to
Has anyone suggested a note for ArchivesSpace that would contain content or
trigger warnings for the collection being described? The General note would
tend to get lost among the other notes and both the Abstract and Scope and
Content Notes do not seem to be quite right either. It would also be
Can anyone tell me what {"error":"undefined method `pretty_inspect' for #"} is
indicating when I try and load a spreadsheet? Because of size limitations I had
to divide up a subseries; I get this error when I try to add the next segment.
Thank you.

I am wondering if this is the "&" problem. A PDF cannot be generated if there
is an "&" anywhere in the description. We ran into that problem here at Clemson.

Are metadata rights declarations a required element for subject authority
records under DACS 13.11 as they are for name authority records? Unfortunately
DACS only discusses them in relation to names. Thank you.

subject authorities when it was introduced. In my view, there is no downside
to including such declarations in subject authority records.

I am working on instructions for using ArchivesSpace and a question has come up
regarding the General relationship type in the Related Agents section of
Agents. Can anyone point me to any definitions or use standards for the General
relationship types in ArchivesSpace? Previous versions had defi
Pardon me for what may seem to be a very basic question, but does the
ArchivesSpace PUI have the ability to search for names with diacritical marks?
I assume so but I would like to be sure. Thank you.

If you changed your base measurement from linear to cubic feet in the config.
file, what happens when you calculate extent? You are only providing one
measurement (let us say width) for extent dimension, but it really should be
using all three for cubic feet. And how would the stacking limit com
Another thought: use single date in both cases and let the “Date Expression”
field indicate that it is open-ended, i.e. single date “1990,” date expression
“1990 - ” or single date “1990,” date expression “1990 (end date)” The date
expression is what the user will see in the PUI.
