Hi listers,
Greetings,
I have a new challenge thrown at me.. now the performance of the system is
good enough (if you remember my tiring question about ARS performance and
huge queries) now I have been asked to find a way to keep 2 application
servers in sync at real time. And what I could think
DSO is not recommended for what you want the best way is datareplication at the
database level. I have encountered only one customer that used DSO for the same
thing and they limited the DSO to transactional data only and still encountered
multiple failures during every week.

Hi,
Do you have data in your log file, maybe a field 306 that has the wrong
data in it?
Also from the ar.h file, please check for the following option.

This is an error normally presented when a selection field does not have a
value that is in the list being imported. Review the selection lists on the
base forms where the system you are importing to has only two values. The
system you creatd the join in has 3 values.

Dear Jason,
Thanks a lot for sharing your practice in a way that
precisely helps me, and I would like you to elucidate one more query,
according to BMC, the Hyper-V falls under Partially Supported Virtual
Environments and by any chance have you faced any such BMC issues
specific
You can go for Clustering

Hi
We are starting the process of looking at tools that can handle the
Discovery of our Assets and integrating them into our CMDB.
What discovery tools are others currently using? Pros? Cons? How was
it integrating with BMC's Remedy CMDB?
The few Discovery Tools I've seen want to
Alot of text here: Summary
ADDM : Tideway discovery (this scans the network with a ping, nmap, and then
login to box and does a basic discovery of some software/hardware).
BBCA: Bladelogic for Client Automation: Which can be used on servers too,
but does not do everything BSA does: does in depth
When I look in Crystal Report it is there. Also, this report works in
the user tool as designed (with the external field) but not in the web.

Integrating ADDM is trivial (not even an integration script if using CMDB
7.6.4).
Blade Logic integration installs AIE exchanges which should just work.
The challenges will be around normalisation and reconciliation but these
challenges are discovery-tool agnostic.
The BMC mantra of late
Vikram,
I worked at a company that used DSO for exactly what you are discussing,
used to archive things off of production to a reporting server, and make
that reporting server 'real time'it was a good solution for us at the

from what I saw of the complete architectural design, XX had 3 -5 times more
machines and 3-5 times more admins doing the same job that BMC was doing. So

Hello all,
Can anyone help me locate the Best Practice Conversion Utility 7.6.04
(bpcu7604.zip)
I’ve searched BMC Developer Network, and BMC Communities. I found the hash
file, but nowhere is BPCU to be found.
Thanks,

It was one of the enumeration field as suggested by folks.
Appreciate the help.

It should have been installed along with the server – check for
bpcu7604_build002.zip in the AR installation directory – the parent of
bin/db/conf etc and Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem on Windows.

It's in the main folder for your remedy app server install after you install

Matt,
Thank you! Indeed it is there. Just for fun, BMC provided a different
filename than the documentation states, so my search didn’t return results.
Not to mention that the documentation states that you need to download it
separately.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,
For archiving and copying data to a reporting server, I would recommend
RRR|Chive.
It is fast, robust and foolproof, and will keep modify-dates and request
ids synchronized.
It does not require any DSO-fields.
When you need 2-way synchronization, I would go for DSO or database
replication
We did work with BMC on some issues with AIE 7.6 patch 2 (we have a hot fix
build now). We did the troubleshooting on the Hyper-V test environment and
the subject of physical/virtual never came up. I imagine if there is an
issue that completely stumps them they may ask for more details about the
Ø , according to BMC, the Hyper-V falls under Partially Supported Virtual

Hyper-V actually falls under Fully Supported Virtual Environments in AR System
7.6.0x... Please refer to the latest compatibility matrix.
I am curious to know when you refresh the report in crystal reports are
you getting any errors ?
I am noticing that your qualification does not use underscores but the
crystal report field is using underscores..
How do you have our odbc set up? to use underscores or not to use
underscores?
There are no errors in Crystal Reports or the User Tool when I try the
report only on the web. I did try recreating at one point to use the
underscores incase that was the issue. But the really odd point to me
is that if I run the report with any quals it works but if I add
'3'=1/1/11 I get the
