Thank you LJ. I'm afraid the ideas for the c plugin haven't panned out,
but I have a better idea of what is in my config files now! Always a good
thing. I'm going to tackle the JAVA plugin now. I'll let you know what I
find.

Mid-Tier client or User Tool?
For Mid-Tier you also turn on Global Logging and you (after closing and
re-opening to recognize changes) you get a popup window with the logs you have
turned on

It is
Mid Tier and I think this is only for Active links correct?
Anyone hear anything different coming out in future versions (after 8.1 SP2)
that will have better pop up window logging including filters, etc?

Scott,
Rick's document is absolutely a good starting point - it has helped me.
Over the years, another way I've used to describe categorizations is:
- The OpCat is the verb of the ticket. What action is being taken
because of this ticket. I ask, *Operationally*, how do we handle this
This is for Mid-Tier
The User Tool logs to a file (That is what uses the log file path) (Both can
use the Preference record)

What about some kind of visualization plugin? Calendaring or
relationship/dependencies (CMDB like). ITSM has these but for us custom
shops we get no love. You could likely build more versatile (non-ITSM
dependent) plugins then BMC that both ITSM and custom shops would want to
use :)
Maybe even

Hi,
Client Side logging stores stuff on the client.
In the case of ARUser.exe, it stores it in the specified file
In case of Mid-Tier it stores it in a separate browser window from which you
can copy/paste it the log parser of your choise.
You turn it on in your User Preferences as said
Well Gollly I didn't realize I could get filter side logs on the MidTier
(I just tested and I can).
Thanks everyone!!

Isn’t that what SmartIT basically is? I know it doesn’t work with custom apps
yet but I’d think that’s inevitable.
