As far as I know, this parameter is only relevant when using
frequency
lookup tables. For wind retrievals we use the OnTheFly method to
calculate absorption without lookup tables, which is slower but
more
accurate because it does not need interpolation.
This is also set in TestOEM.arts by:
Copy( propmat_clearsky_agenda, propmat_clearsky_agenda__OnTheFly )

Exactly.

Hi Rita

I have a question related to how should I set abs_f_interp_order
in
general.arts, which is then being included in an ARTS cfile
where

winds are considered, e.g. TestOEM.arts?

As far as I know, this parameter is only relevant when using
frequency

lookup tables. For wind retrievals we use the OnTheFly method to
calculate absorption without lookup tables, which is slower but
more

accurate because it does not need interpolation.
This is also set in TestOEM.arts by:
Copy( propmat_clearsky_agenda, propmat_clearsky_agenda__OnTheFly )

then is it sufficient to set abs_f_interp_order to 1 when I am
dealing

with on-the-fly calculations?

Exactly.
