[asterisk-users] OT: Does IEEE 801.2q include VLAN trunking?

2011-11-29 Thread Ruben Rögels
Hello List,

I'm a little bit confused as I read about IEEE 801.2.q
So, my actual question is: Does a switch stating to support IEEE 801.2q
also supports VLAN trunking?

As I understand the standard, I suppose it does, but I'm not sure.

Can someone clarify this for me, please?
Thank you vermy much.

Best regards,
Ruben

I don't know if you miss-typed or not. But, 802.1q is VLAN. If it was
typed incorrectly, then yes. I just recently setup a Linux DHCP to
handle multiple networks with VLAN 802.1q trunking.

[asterisk-users] When dialing the number, I need to see it in the Cisco LCD Phone

2011-11-29 Thread bilal ghayyad
Dear List;

I have internal Menu that I use it when doing outside call (it ask some
questions, and then it ask to dial the number that need to call it), I can
access this menu by dialing 9, but after the Background stay play the wave
file, then whatever I dial (to select) and whatever the number that I dial it,
I do not see it in the LCD of the IP Phone, it stays display on the IP Phone
the 9 number (which is the first dialed number to access the Menu), how can I
display the dialed numbers that I am dialing on the LCD, because I need to see
what I dialed (at least to know I am dialing the right digits and to know what
the number I am calling him now)!!

I am adding below the extensions.conf part that is related to this scenario:

exten = 9,1,Set(AgentCount=1)
exten = 9,2,Background(WhichCustomer)

exten = 1,1,Set(EnteredOption=1)
exten = 1,2,Goto(ExternalOnly,s,1)

exten = 2,1,Set(EnteredOption=2)
exten = 2,2,Set(CALLERID(pres)=allowed)
exten = 2,3,Set(CALLERID(num)=65631040)
exten = 2,4,Goto(ExternalOnly,s,1)

exten = i,1,Playback(pbx-invalid)
exten = i,2,Set(AgentCount=$[${AgentCount}+1])
exten = i,3,GotoIf($[${AgentCount}  3]?ExternalAgent,9,2:4)
exten = i,4,Playback(vm-goodbye)
exten = i,5,Hangup()

exten = t,1,Set(AgentCount=$[${AgentCount}+1])
exten = t,2,GotoIf($[${AgentCount}  3]?ExternalAgent,9,2:3)
exten = t,3,Playback(vm-goodbye)
exten = t,4,Hangup()
;

[ExternalOnly]

exten = s,1,Set(OutCount=1)
exten = s,2,Background(EnterTheNumber)

exten = i,1,Playback(pbx-invalid)
exten = i,2,Set(OutCount=$[${OutCount}+1])
exten = i,3,GotoIf($[${OutCount}  3]?ExternalOnly,s,2:4)
exten = i,4,Playback(vm-goodbye)
exten = i,5,Hangup()

exten = t,1,Set(OutCount=$[${OutCount}+1])
exten = t,2,GotoIf($[${OutCount}  3]?ExternalOnly,s,2:3)
exten = t,3,Playback(vm-goodbye)
exten = t,4,Hangup()

exten =
_Z,1,MixMonitor(${CHANNEL}${EXTEN}${STRFTIME(${EPOCH},,%Y%m%d%H%M%S)}.wav)
exten = _Z,2,Dial(${PSTNTRUNK}/${EXTEN})
exten = _Z,3,Playback(vm-nobodyavail)
exten = _Z,4,Hangup()
exten = _Z,103,Congestion()
exten = _Z,104,Hangup()

Any help on how to be able to display at the Cisco IP Phone LCD what I am
dialing during this scenario?

  From what I read you are running a pre-compiled asterisk – what you can
 do in that instance is this

 1 create a directory like /usr/local/src/asterisk/1.4-update

 2 wget the matching version as indicated by “core show version”

 3 extract the tar to the directory from step 1

 4 run ./configure

 5 run make menuselect

 6 run make – DO NOT RUN make install

 7 copy cdr_mysql.so to /usr/lib/asterisk/modules and load the module from
 CLI

 How did you initially install Asterisk? When compiling from source
 ./configure is the first step before you can run make. It shouldn't
 prompt to run ./configure for make menuselect if you are just changing
 some options from a previously compile and install.

 If you were able to run make menuselect without configure you might be
 able to load the module while Asterisk is running. You would copy the
 cdr_mysql.so to the lib directory and run module load cdr_mysql.
 However I would still plan this for after hours in case of an issue.

Re: [asterisk-users] CDR mysql with asterisk 1.4

2011-11-29 Thread Ishfaq Malik
The addons are not part of the source in 1.4 or 1.6

You need to install the addons separately.

If you installed asterisk from a package maintainer (e.g yum, apt) then
check for asterisk 1.4 addons packages.

Otherwise download, compile and install the addons from source. They can
be found here

http://www.asterisk.org/downloads

under the section Asterisk Add-Ons.

I don't think installing this will have any effect on your current
config files but I'm not 100% sure on that. It is always wise to backup
your config files before doing anything like this anyway.

Regards

Ish

Re: [asterisk-users] OT: Does IEEE 801.2q include VLAN trunking?

2011-11-29 Thread Douglas Mortensen
Yes. That's exactly what 802.1q is. Technically 802.1q allows the network
devices to tag each Ethernet frame with a VLAN ID. This way if you have 3
vlans, they can all be trunked over 1 Ethernet port by means of tagging the
VLAN ID.

From what I read you are running a pre-compiled asterisk - what you can do
in that instance is this

1 create a directory like /usr/local/src/asterisk/1.4-update

2 wget the matching version as indicated by core show version

3 extract the tar to the directory from step 1

4 run ./configure

5 run make menuselect

6 run make - DO NOT RUN make install

7 copy cdr_mysql.so to /usr/lib/asterisk/modules and load the module from
CLI

How did you initially install Asterisk? When compiling from source
./configure is the first step before you can run make. It shouldn't
prompt to run ./configure for make menuselect if you are just changing
some options from a previously compile and install.

If you were able to run make menuselect without configure you might be
able to load the module while Asterisk is running. You would copy the
cdr_mysql.so to the lib directory and run module load cdr_mysql.
However I would still plan this for after hours in case of an issue.

If you are using a 1.X (1.4, 1.6 or 1.8) version you probably need to either
use saynumber() to playback the number before dialing or use message() to
send an IM to the phone since that architecture only knows 9 as the number
you dialed. I think 10.0 will refresh the number when Dial is executed.

2011-11-29 Thread Bryant Zimmerman
I have found that this is a feature on most phones. It is usually called
something like display in call dialed digits.

This is an option on all three of the phone manufactures products we use.
If enabled digits dialed during an active call to be shown on the screen.
This is not a function of asterisk but the device.

 Yes. That's exactly what 802.1q is. Technically 802.1q allows the

 means of tagging the VLAN ID.

Hi Doug,

ok - thank you.
I also read on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.1q#Trunk_ports_and_the_native_VLAN

---Quote start---

Not all vendors use the concept of trunk ports and native VLANs. Annex
D to the 1998 802.1Q standard uses the concept of trunk links, but the
current (IEEE Std 802.1D- 2004) standard does not use the terms trunk or
native. Some use the term Qtrunk to avoid confusion with 802.3ad link
aggregation that is often named a trunk as well.

---Quote end---

Confusing. I'm planning to use a HP ProCurve V1810G-24 or ProCurve
E2510G-24 together with a MikroTik RB450 or RB1100 (which also supports
IEEE 802.1q). We want to set up routed VLANs for VoIP an company's LAN
without the need of using multiple ports on the router.

As I understand you, this will be possible without any problems, because
tagged VLANS also includes VLAN trunking, right?

Thank you very much.

regards,
Ruben

Unless you built your MySQL from Source Code, you need to have the developers'
package for MySQL installed. That would be mysql-devel (on CentOS / Fedora)
or libmysqlclient-dev (on Ubuntu / Debian). Then run ./configure again.

Re: [asterisk-users] CDR mysql with asterisk 1.4

2011-11-29 Thread Warren Selby
In order to install MySQL support for asterisk 1.4, you'll need to download
the asterisk-addons-1.4 tarball, extract it to it's own folder. Go to that
folder, run ./configure, make menuselect, and select the cdr_addon_mysql
and the res_config_mysql options. Exit make menuselect, then run make,
make install, and make samples. This should add the necessary modules to
asterisk, as well as the sample config files.

This of course assumes you've got mysql and it's development packages
installed.

 Even if they don't compromise an account they are still using your
 bandwidth and resources on your machine.

 Linux has excellent built-in subsystems to control firewalling and so on
 without resorting to external programs. It's called iptables. If you know
 how to use them, then using an external resource such as fail2ban is
 unneccessary.
So its not that you don't need it, but you use something else.
BTW, you were just proven wrong, you need it for this hack.

This may well turn out to just be troll fodder but I can not resist.
I disagree with the above being very well put, personally I think it is
the opposite of well put. Maybe I am misunderstanding the gist of the
comment but, I do not NEED FreePBX, I have Asterisk makes perfect sense
to me. I have been using asterisk for a few years now and have not yet
found anything that I need to do with Asterisk that I must have FreePBX
to accomplish. Could I do the same things with FreePBX on top of
Asterisk, maybe. I am not an expert in iptables but I have been semi
successful in adapting what others have done to fit my needs. I have
found this to work better FOR ME than Fail2ban. I have used and will
continue to use Fail2ban for other purposes because I am not an iptables
expert. In my opinion one should find the tools that work best for you
in your situation and use them. You may well change your mind in the
future but that is the beauty of this industry, it changes all the time,
what I feel works best today may well not be what I think works best
tomorrow as new tools are developed and proven and also as I become more
experianced with the old tried and true tools.

As usual, just my 2 cents (US currency, exchange rates not compensated for)

I saw in some other message threads, it looks like you are working out
getting the mysql connectivity working in 1.4. In this version, it is
an 'add on' that you have to download separately from the Asterisk
source tree. The instructions given by Warren Selby are correct.
When you do the 'make menuselect', you are presented with a menu with 5
options. Under 'Applications' you need to check app_addon_sql_mysql.
Under 'Call Detail Recording' select cdr_addon_mysql. Under 'Resource
Modules' check res_config_mysql. Exit from menuselect and type 'make'.
You probably do not need the res_config_mysql, but it does not hurt
anything to compile it.

Aslo as mentioned in another thread, you do need to have mysql-devel
package installed.

Then run 'make' and 'make install' and 'make samples'. This will build
the modules app_addon_sql_mysql.so, cdr_addon_mysql.so and
res_config_mysql.so and install them in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules. This
does not change any existing modules, just adds the new ones.

Start an Asterisk cli (asterisk -r) and issue the command 'module load
app_addon_sql_mysql'. This should load the module and the MYSQL app
will be available in your dialplan. To verify it is loaded, you can
issue the command 'module show like sql'

You should also check the /etc/asterisk/modules.conf file. There should
be a line that says 'autoload=yes'. If it says no, you will have to add
a line 'load = app_addon_sql_mysql' (do not include the quotes).
Note: If you want to load cdr_addon_mysql, you will have to add a 'load
= cdr_addon_mysql' line as well. This file is read by asterisk at
startup, so after you restart asterisk for the first time after these
changes, make sure the module is loaded with the module show command.
