[asterisk-users] Re: Zap channel faxing in or out fails but phone calls work.

2006-07-20 Thread Gregory L Miller-Kramer
It was a simple solution. Bruce Reeves was correct. Sangoma had and
issue with their drivers and re-syncing.

I upgraded the drivers and all is good.

Thanks to those that offered help. It was much appreciated.

Greg

I had similar problems with a Sangoma card in this configuration. I
recently received from Sangoma an updated driver that fixed issues with
resyncing the clock on the card. You might try getting a hold of
Sangoma, David Yat Sin if possible and ask him about it, it may very
well be the same problew. On 7/19/06, Gregory L Miller-Kramer

The system has a single PRI connected to port 1 and port 2 has the T1
cable connected to the Channel Bank. Both are configured properly and work
for the inbound/outbound calls and soft-fax reception.

I have fax machines connected to FXS ports on the channel bank. The idea
here is to allow faxing out over the PRI from these FXS ports and for
inbound DIDs to go to specific fax machines.

I have [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2.8 setup on this system and I am pretty certain I
 have it configured correctly.
 * Each fax machine has it's own Zap extension.
 * The DID routes to the correct fax machine (zap extension).
 * I can make and receive phone calls with these fax machines. Meaning, the
fax machine has a phone hand set. I can call out with that handset and
 receive calls on that handset.

Here's the problem. When I try send or receive faxes it fails telling me
 there was a com error.

 Any ideas?

I am at a loss. I have followed the logs. The transmit and receive work.
Once the connection is made it fails indicating com error.

Additionally, I hear the whistle and chirp of fax machines talking to
each other. Combined with being able to make and receive calls over those
fax machine hand sets I don't know what the problem is at this point.

Please, if anyone has fax machines setup with a similar situation I would
appreciate knowing how you have it setup.

 OS - CentOS 4.3
 zaptel - 1.2.5
 libpri - 1.2.3
 asterisk - 1.2.9.1
 freepbx - 2.0.1

 Thank you,
 Greg

I too have seen this happen on two occasions. Said there was a 93
second message (when I logged into the web interface).. comedian mail
said there was a message, but there was nothing.

1.2.7

The issue is the version of Asterisk you are running 1.2.7 has this bug... The
change log on asterisk's site indicates such. It is fixed in version 1.2.8 and
higher. I had to upgrade in order to fix it.

The path to upgrade isn't all that easy but it is not too tough either.

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR CONFIGS, and EVERYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT with respect to the
phone system. I usually back up the /etc folder and a few others. In addition I
do a mysqldump of the asterisk database (AAH).

You need to download the latest version of libpri (if you have a PRI), and the
latest version of asterisk.

o rebuild install libpri
** IF, like me, you are using freePBX-AAH-whatever-its-called-now, then you need to
copy the extra_apps/* into the asterisksrc/apps/ folder and patch the make file in
there (apps folder) BEFORE rebuild install of asterisk...
o rebuild install asterisk ( you do NOT need to make samples or make
config You already have those.)
o Also, rebuild install asterisk-addons (if you have and use them)

That should do it. I have done it a few times at this point. Additionally, I
have mine in a vserver so, I REALLY didn't want to have to do anything to
zaptel... Would have meant more annoyance.

Hope that helps. :)

Later,
~G
