[asterisk-users] Picked up calls die in exactly 20 seconds

2008-11-17 Thread Juan Carlos Castro y Castro
Weird thing happening when a call is picked up. Whether by *8 feature,
or by directed pickup via dialplan, either with Pickup() or with
Pickup2(), the same thing happens: the call is picked up successfully,
and after exactly 20 seconds talking, the call is terminated. The
originating end gets a hangup, while the side that did the pickup goes mute.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

[Asterisk-Users] Re: Milliwatt Analyzer available

2006-03-02 Thread Juan Carlos Castro y Castro
Could I use this to distinguish human voices from
machine beeps and/or ambient noise etc, by (after a few adaptations) calling
it a number of times on the same set of samples with some representative set
of frequencies? Or is there a better, less CPU-torturing way to do
that? -Original Message- From:

[Asterisk-Users] Milliwatt Analyzer available Hi, some days ago
we discused here the need for an analyzer for the 1000 Hz tone, as opposite application to
Milliwatt. Here it is: Mwanalyze
http://planinternet.net/download/voip/asterisk/app_mwanalyze.c It performs a Fourier
analysis for a fixed frequency and tells
the amplitude. The frequency is not limited to 1000 Hz, but can be
passed as argument. The periode duration
must be a mulitple of 0.5 ms, thus the
valid frequences are: 2000 Hz, 1000 Hz,
666.7 Hz, 500 Hz, ...

[Asterisk-Users] Re: How many TDM2400P's will a server take?

We successfully ran four fully-loaded TDM2400Ps in a server here during
development testing. The configuration was half FXS and half FXO on each
 board.

I would not recommend running that much load in a single server of FXS,
because the power supply requirements are too great, but if at least
half is FXO then you should be fine. Four TDM2400Ps is the same amount
of Zaptel load as a single quad-port T1 card, so most servers should be
 able to handle it.

Sweet! So -- what are the specs of that server you tested on? Specifically,
the power supply wattage? My intended use here is all FXS, so I suppose a
limit of 2 would be reasonable.

By the way -- don't you think it would be nice if some FXS hardware had some
way to drain power from somewhere else that the PC's power supply? Forgive
me if this idea has already been discussed to death there.

Thanks for the info,
Juan

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Re: How many TDM2400P's will a server take?

2006-02-01 Thread Juan Carlos Castro y Castro
Just figured I'd offer my experience with power restrictions and the
 2400P...

When I purchased a Dell 2800 series tower I found that there were no
Molex power connectors in the box so I thought I was out of luck if I
wanted to use *any* FXS card (TDM400 or TDM2400) in this box. I spoke
with the guys at Digium about power requirements for the card and ended
up buying an external power supply (Altech PS-4512:

http://www.wolfautomation.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=17140amp;CategoryID=2725)

, coaxial power connectors and some shrink wrap from Radio Shack.

I can not remember exactly what the power requirements per Quad FXS
module were but I am sure Digium can provide that. The guys at Digium
also mentioned they were looking into an external solution like this for
the same reason I was -- I just needed a solution that day :)

I would assume you could use a solution like this to provide the
required power to the X number of cards in a system. I can post some
pictures of my solution if anyone is interested.

Please do. Someone IS interested! :)

** Please note, Digium did not suggest this or condone this... **

Caveat emptor, please don't do it at home, we're trained professionals etc
etc etc. ;)
