2011-04-11 Thread Tiago Geada
that is a sendmail issiue. Obviously asterisk is contacting 127.0.0.1 to try
and deliver e-mail.

Try help with sendmail folks, check that 127.0.0.1 is in the allowed to
relay list or so..

transcription, if it is to be at all accurate. Anyone who has worked
with the various speech-to-text software, such as ViaVoice or Dragon,
knows that training is the key to really accurate transcription. That,
and a good quality audio signal. The variations in audio quality you
get in voicemail is probably too great to do this all with software only.

Re: [asterisk-users] Voicemail to email transcribed

2009-09-22 Thread C F
Whats interesting is that most message are only around 90% accurate,
if it would be a human it would be way more accurate upwards to around
97% in my opinion. There are only so many mistakes a human can make,
in the case of phonetag I don't think it's humans since there are too
many obvious mistakes.

[asterisk-users] Voicemail to email

2007-01-03 Thread Mark Greene

Hey guys,

I need to set up asterisk so that it sends the voicemail to the users email.
I understand that I need to say attatch=yes, but what else needs to be
done. I would think that somewhere I need to specify the server that it uses
to send the email, etc.

There should be an example in your voicemail.conf

Here is mine...

mail is tagged from [EMAIL PROTECTED] and sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

In voicemail.conf

mailcmd=/usr/sbin/sendmail -f [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You of course would use the mailer that your system uses. I have sendmail
on the same system as Asterisk.

There are many other things you can define for mail but all should be in
your example voicemail.conf

You just specify the users email address in the voicemail.conf file,
along with their mailbox number:

see the sample file:

;maxmsg=50
2506 = 2506,Grandstream,[EMAIL PROTECTED],,attach=yes|imapuser=fbeck

Re: [asterisk-users] Voicemail to email

2007-01-03 Thread Mark Greene

In my case it was never any confusion over what needs to be configured in
asterisk. I was wondering what mail program asterisk used and what needed to
be configured with it. In my case I had to set up sendmail on my system to
relay through our internal mail server.

sendmail.mc was the file I had to modify and SmartHost was what I had to
append to.

I couldn't find one but I didn't look too hard.

To be honest, the Blackberry is so easy to use with one hand I dropped the
issue.

We actually switched to Windows Mobile devices which suck compared to the
Blackberry for email/ease of use but I can now one click listen to my voicemail
without dialing in (and using the horrible on screen only keypad of my new
phone...which is the only reason I listen to the attachment via a phone now.

Re: [Asterisk-Users] voicemail to email sending problems

2006-04-01 Thread C F
What does your /var/spool/mqueue look like? The messages in there
should give you a clue what's wrong. For some reasone I'm suspecting
that your exchange server is behind the same NAT as the sendmail
machine, sendmail is resloving yourdomain.com to the public MX record,
and your NAT device (like most NAT servers) will not allow internal
access to the public ip address that is mapped internaly. The best way
to work around *all* of these problems is to:
1. Configure the sendmail.cf (using of course the *.mc files, but if
you want to edit the .cf file it's macro DS change that to
read:DSipaddress) to use a smart host that will allow relay from this
sendmail box. In your case create a rule on your exchange email to
allow relaying from your sendmail box, and configure your sendmail box
to use the exchange server using the IP address of the exchange
server.
2. Make sure that the sendmail box uses an email address that is *not*
local to the sendmail box, and is real. If you run exchange it is
usualy the easiest to do this by configuring masquardating on the
sendmail box (again use the .mc files, but if you edit the .cf I think
it's the DM option), and create a secondary email address for someone
with root at yourdomain.com. That way all the NDRs will always go
there.

Just remember that a lot of email systems don't accept email from
unverifiable domains. If your using a domain for your Linux/Asterisk server
that does not resolve to a public IP then you may not be able to receive
voicemail to email.

I know that Hotmail WILL work no matter what so try that first.

You don't have to use Sendmail (you can use Postfix too), but it has to
be something on the * server. It uses the local SMTP server to send the

Many similar systems (webmail, bulletin boards etc) are configurable
to use a local MUA (/sbin/sendmail etc) or talk SMTP directly to an
MTA, either locally or remote. Asterisk voicemail unfortunately is not
one of those systems (AFAICT) - you're stuck with having to use a
local MUA.

This is a good time to look at 'dummy mailers' like
http://untroubled.org/nullmailer/

I usually use 'ssmtp' from Debian for this task - and since they purely exist
to shuffle mail to a real MTA - they're very easy to configure - generally
all you need is the IP address of the real MUA :)

[Asterisk-Users] Voicemail to email file sizes

2004-01-06 Thread Jonathan Moore
I am wondering what is the best way to send the smallest files with the vm to
emai l integration? I am not sure what order the three lines of the format
command take, so I have just tried trial and error swapping. I think when set to
gsm I get the smallest sizes. I can get my Windows Media player to play at
least part of the file (get missing codec message from Realplayer), but get a
format error at the end. What is the recommended route? If trying to use gsm is
there a way to change the mime type to an appropriate value for gsm files? Is
there a file extension convention for gsm files if I want to try some manual
test on my computer before tackling a mimetype change?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Voicemail are saved on the server in all format specified in
voicemail.conf, but only the first one is sent with the email. If
you're using Windows on your email clients, I'd suggest that you
go with WAV (and yes, case matters), as that format is a compressed
sound format recognized by Microsoft (aka MSGSM, WAV49).

[Asterisk-Users] Voicemail notification email with no attachment despite attach=yes

2003-09-10 Thread Jean-Marc V. Liotier
The demo 1235 extension that Asterisk ships with works fine and the
messages are sent to the address I set in voicemail.conf. I guess that
means that my configuration is working perfectly so far.

But when I set up another extension with a voicemailbox, no mail is sent
when a message is left, although I can dial voicemail and listen to the
message just fine which I guess rules out voicemailbox misconfiguration.

The strange thing is that both extensions and mailboxes are configured
exactly the same :

in extensions.conf :
exten = 1235,1,Voicemail(u1234); Right to voicemail
exten = 6004,1,Voicemail(u6004)

in voicemail.conf :
1234 = 4242,Test mailbox,[EMAIL PROTECTED]
6004 = 4242;Other test mailbox,[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I don't understand why these two seemingly identical configuration yield
different results. I guess that I must have missed something that was
included in the example and not in my new mailbox. Could somebody give
me a hint about what it could be ?

 voicemailbox misconfiguration.

The strange thing is that both extensions and mailboxes are
 configured exactly the same :

 in extensions.conf :
 exten = 1235,1,Voicemail(u1234); Right to
 voicemail exten = 6004,1,Voicemail(u6004)

 in voicemail.conf :
 1234 = 4242,Test mailbox,[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 6004 = 4242;Other test mailbox,[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I don't understand why these two seemingly identical configuration
yield different results. I guess that I must have missed something
that was included in the example and not in my new mailbox. Could
somebody give me a hint about what it could be ?

It's probably the semicolon (;) in the second line, instead of a comma
(,).

Could this have anything to do with it? You're effectively commenting out
the rest of the line (if I have a grasp on *'s config parser.

In effect, you have a VM box w/password, but no name or email address.

 configuration yield
different results. I guess that I must have missed something that was

How about the second line having a semi-colon between password and
description, while the first line has a comma?
