I requested Nufone transfer my tollfree number in May and it is still

Nope, same issue here. Luckily I hadn't advertised the number, so no
big deal.

Rich,
Kind of good news (that I am not alone) and bad news (that you are in the
same situation). I have had good availability with Nufone and did not
want to

go elsewhere unless it was a lost cause. I wish the company would provide
some update(s) either on their website or at least in response to emails.

Seems NuFone has a fairly major human communications issue, not unlike a
lot of other 'tech' groups.

My emails to support are ignored as well. I have two vanity numbers I
want working, and a handful of 800# which I'd like to keep, but nobody
seems home at nufone. I wouldn't even mind the $60 option someone had
mentioned for a forced transfer, but there's no way to get a hold of
anyone at nufone, so that's not even something I can discuss with them.

Does anyone have email addresses at nufone that actually get answered?
A phone number?

I kept my toll-free number, it just took an extra step to get it
working. Apparently their old provider is screwing them and taking
whatever time they want to do the porting. To speed it up there's an
option called force-porting, as they explained to me. The old
provider will act faster for a fee of $60. NuFone is willing to eat
that cost if you put those $60 into your NuFone account and put For
QUICK TFN port in the payment comments, they will initiate the force
porting request but leave that amount in your account so you can use
it for your normal call activity.

Pretty fair I'd say. The only problem is that they might not have
advertised this option to every customer stuck with that particular
problem.

Other than that, any new toll-free DID as well as standard DID
you order works instantly.

jens

Jens,
Thanks for the force-porting tip. I use the TF for personal reasons and
do not have a pressing need at the moment. My usage is so low that
I suspect Nufone is losing money on me. I tried to get an update from
Nufone but got no response. It does not look like a lost cause yet and I
would like to stay because their service has always been available when
I needed it. I even stated in my email to Nufone that I would switch to
their current terms that have a monthly charge. I still got no response!?!
Regards,
John

No, I have 2 toll free numbers with them that have been offline since

That's news to me; I terminate about 5kmin/month through them, except for
about 1 week this month when their carrier dropped them. They are most
certainly back up and running.

800 origination is also reportedly working, although I don't have any 800#s

Not entirely dead. Yesterday I received an e-mail requiring me to push some

I switched to exgn.net. They have ready to use * configs and US+Canada

Then you are a luck one aren't you. Haven't had my 800 number for
over a month now but they still bill you for having the number.

That's news to me; I terminate about 5kmin/month through them,
except for
about 1 week this month when their carrier dropped them. They are
most

certainly back up and running.

800 origination is also reportedly working, although I don't have

from them.

It is working, I have a 800-number with them.

Don't spit out without facts!!!

Here's one for all the naysayers: I only sent an email to NuFone
accounting to inquire about that $2.50/month fee and they're falling
over themselves to not only get all my questions answered but to also
helping me getting my account set up in the most economical way for
me after their upstream provider problems. Proves me right for
 sticking with them.

I see it now on the FAQ, but this must be a new thing. I paid $50
in December 2004 and still have over $39 (yes, I don't use it
often). If I remember correctly the 800 DIDs were advertised as
free of monthly fees, call fees only.

They bill you for having the 800 number? I thought they only did
  that
for Michigan DIDs. They only bill my actual call time.

   Interesting.

Nufone is not dead, works perfectly fine for me.

Definately adds stress to your life when a provider disconnects you
but I can see that they are trying to square things away with there
customers and it looks like good changes are in the works.

I never liked Jeremy, having that out of the way, :)

What happen to him can happen to ANYONE!

It happened to Broadvoice big time Also Vonage!!.. but they are more
prepared to deal with the root cause!! They have more resources!! And more
MONEY!!! It has nothing to do with reputation!!!

Don't spit out without facts!!!

I think the point everyone is making is that no reputable company
would have had this happen. Can you see Vonage losing all their DIDs?
No! NuFone clearly did something that screwed their contract with
their CLEC...

We suffered no outbound downtime that was a 'show-stopper' proof
positive that JJ was and always will be there, however the TF REsporgs
are still killing me. You are working your butt off and I appreciate it,
good luck and hope to hear ringing in my ears soon. :-)
