David, Lonnie, and everyone else,
Thanks for your help. I think there was something flawed with Astlinux
install because it kept magically jumping between versions 1.4 and 1.8.
I eventually gave up on the GTalk approach and was able to successfully
connect to the PSTN with Teliax. Maybe one
Ken,
I don't see anything wrong. Have you tried to debug it? If I were you I
would go into the asterisk console and turn on Verbose and Debug and see
where the problem is. You can do this from the AstLinux GUI at the CLI tab
(or better - ssh in from a command line). Login as root, then type

Does anyone have an idea why my outgoing calls will not work with the
script below? I have not been able to make any headway with this.
Thank you.

Thanks. I tried the tip but it didn't help. Below is my

Note that on inbound calls from GTalk you need to send a DTMF tone '1' to
tell google to connect the call. My dialplan is fairly complex but see
snips below for how I handle this.
I don't know if this will help with your audio problem though.

ThanksI will get to work on that. The Astlinux box was setup by my

Ken,
As Michael noted (below) you are running an old version of Asterisk (1.4.44)
which I seem to recall has issues with GTalk.
I'd suggest using AstLinux 1.0.5 (as you are) but with Asterisk 1.8.x.

Hey Lonnie,
Nope, using 1.4. I thought about possibly switching over to it, but
decided against it. Didn't want to have to rewrite all my dialplan, etc.

I played around with it a bit more, and I was able to login to both

Hi James,
Are you using Asterisk 1.8 ? If not, you may have better results with Asterisk
1.8.
I know along with Michael, David Kerr also got GTalk working properly. Both

Since it seems like my configuration is kosher, I started looking into
possible networking/system problems which might be causing this. I tried

I just upgraded to 1.0.1 and decided to play with GoogleTalk

David,
The "Reload Asterisk" menu action is determined by the Prefs tab -> System &
Staff Tab Options:
Reload Asterisk Command: ||

so in 1.8). Set to to what you want.
The "Restart Asterisk" menu action is more
That is an issue in asterisk not in the astlinux webui.

Lonnie,
Can you also check on the Edit GUI tab that the "reload asterisk" option
is working as it is supposed to? I was making several dialplan changes in

Good idea, consider it done. We should be able to get it into 1.0.1 .

With the addition of Gtalk, it would be useful to have a preference option
on the GUI to display "jabber show connections" output on the status page.

Hi David,
Yes, it should be all enabled, just needs to be configured.
I know jabber has been tested.

Is there anything special I need to do to enable gtalk / google voice
on astlinux 1.0 other than editing the gtalk and jabber .conf files.
Are the necessary modules, etc. all enabled by default.

I have got google voice to work for dialing out using the callback

Callback method requires a system executable called from the dialplan (I
used PHP), then "parking" the outbound call and
