Yes, 0.7 supports curl and the asterisk function CURL.
In 0.6 you could write a bash AGI and use wget to retrieve the data. Here is a

Please upgrade to 0.7.2. That should contain func_curl
I plan to build 0.7.3 images in the next week or so and release those
with the latest Asterisk 1.4 version available. Asterisk 1.6.2.x
versions should also be available at that time (from Astlinux 0.7.3).
