the issue. The older CF card I was using does not support DMA mode. By
pointing me in the correct direction, I was able to see DMA issues on startup.

Sorry to hear about the 1.x AstLinux not booting on your hardware. In general
1.x boots on more hardware than 0.7.x did, but that is little comfort to you.
