How can the error output from the process be in an encoding different
from what actually is in the TeX file?
I don't get it. Maybe because I don't know enough about Japanese TeX
variants. Can you tell us some details?

Things like "TeX-run-ispell-on-document" should be kept as aliases for
the sake of older customizations.
Anyway, why use a string here as argument for TeX-run-function? Seems
ugly, when actually a list is used.

I don't like this. One could use a list of strings, and instead of a
string you can also use '(regexp . "\\.sty\\'") or so. I think I have
seen some co
open-brace
and opening-math functionality by default.
I seemed to remember we had converged on something like this, and so I
was a bit surprised to see the default value of nil.
Any input? What do persons who are using filling often and are aware
of that option tend to use?

If they weren't before, it is my guess that you did something wrong

Maybe it should, but it seems more important right now to tell people
what to do once they _have_ gotten hold of a binary package, rather
than tell them how they could generate one themselves.

just use the same behavior common in Emacs when you type something

It just outputs "Mismatched parentheses" in the echo area, and that's
it. The character still gets inserted.

I have to point out that this "I won't even try this out until it is
released" stance is exactly what gives us a history of releases that
fail to work or even build with XEmacs, for typically trivial reasons.

Uh oh. This means that we should get some testing for Emacs-21,
Emacs CVS, XEmacs-21.4 and probably 21.5 before daring to release
11.82. Font locking is just too diverse across platforms.

Just use
make xemacs-package
then unpack the resulting XEmacs package and demolish it until it fits
the policies of the XEmacs package CVS tree.

the other hand it seems pointless to go out of one's way to promote a

This would concern the whole of wikipedia-mode.el including your
enhancements. That's the work "in whole". If the rest of
wikipedia-mode.el is not releasable under the GPL (by whoever), then
forming a combined wo
pedia.el is to be released under the GPL, you have all the
permission that can be secured at the moment. Whether this is enough
for you, is your decision. Releasing under other licenses would be
hard to do, given that the FSF is pretty much the main copyright
holder of AUCTeX by now.
