Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
nope, no conversion at all. Get braille blaster or a rather mediocre script APH created called send to braille for getting English only grade 2. Other languages and so on will have to be done manually or using software. Oh, and also, tech support
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Hi all, still about the grade 1 and grade 2 in Orbit. Suppose if you open a txt file, will it automatically convert the text into grade 2 contracted braille? This has been on my mind for some time, and something in consideration as whether or not to buy
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Hi.Yes, I'm going to ask the tech support about this random display refreshing thing. It is quite weird.

Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
I will do that and see what happens. in the meantime, and another little interesting thing, not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but there is no explanation anywhere...It turns out that when you turn the orbit reader off and store it, if you have
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Hi.I just checked, and no, there is no official spanish distributor. I just thought that because of the translation.I'll recommend you to contact Orbit Research directly and offer a better translation. The translation works a bit strange, and the translation
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
I have no idea if orbit research has a spanish distributor, I bought it directly from APH when they were one. I guess I could change the files to something more coherent and then submit them, but orbit does not state where I could do that and I believe
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Hi.Yeah it is a great feature in my opinion.Have you contacted the Spanish distributor about the translation? That would be a good idea if you have a better word for the feature in Spanish.

and just in time for Easter, orbit had come up with yet another upgrade to their firmware. I normally do not announce them here as its a bit irrelevant and the information can be publicly browsed, but this time it was a big surprise. I normally was just fine

Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Hi.No no. The product will not be discontinued. Remember: APH was only a distributor, after they had helped Orbit Research making the product. There are many distributors around the world, and I'm sure Orbit Research will find an other distributor in the US
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
ah, you're right, the link is working fine now. I'm seriously thinking of saving to buy one at this point, since the future of it looks uncertain at best.

Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
hi, page might be just buggy, it opened fine here. Its now selling for $599.00 shipping included and you should order it directly from the www.orbitresearch.com sitethe nice thing about this way of ordering is that you do not need to go somewhere else
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Your second link leads to a 500 internal server error. I had read the bad news a few days ago, and was seriously hoping that the Orbit Reader hadn't been discontinued. I'm glad it hasn't been, but since I can't get that link to work, how much more expensive
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Ok, so today I woke up somewhat late to some unfortunate news but the display is still on sale with a slightly [higher price.

Judging by the scraps of information from last year, building up a big enough inventory has been the main holdup since mid spring or so.

Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
Yeah, you do not have to use UEB to use it. I asked at a convention a while ago.I do have a problem with UEB on a 20... well, on a braille disp... well, in general, I guess, in that it is significantly less space efficient than US grade 2 (I can't speak
Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale
you are correct in pointing that out, however I would think that suggestion has been made before, because its a rather popular feature. And there is currently no way of getting it because its out of stock anyway.

Send APH a suggestion if you want autoscroll in the standalone mode. If you're using it with a screen reader, it will obviously be controlled by the reader.

Not sure, you could always try putting in the catalog number (1-07419-00) in on the quick order page. Although it does say that some products cannot be ordered from the shopping website and that you have to call customer service for them, and it does say
