Re: Whatcha Eating?

Actually this is quite an appropriate  topic, since just a few hours ago my brother and I took my dad out for a rather interesting meal at a restaurant attached to a local catering college. they always do some pretty  interesting stuff, and being a test  case for students studdying to be silver service chefs and table staff isn't a bad thing, especially since you tend to get amazingly good grub at amazingly cheap prices. Occasionally they do special events or themed nights, EG meals from around the world, and yesterday was a butcher's evening with a really amazing local butcher who repeatedly wins the  national sausage championships, (No I didn't know there was a national competition for sausage making either, but apparently there is).. Here is the menu since it was an interesting one; Pig in blanket, Merguez, black pudding & chicken lemon & tarragon chipolatas with a Nottingham EPA flatbread and garlic mayo~Royal Savoury Ducks (faggots)With English style gravy or Hungarian Pörkölt sauce, lattice crisps and mushy pea purée~Snooty ‘Snag’ & MashChoose 3 sausages from the following national gold award winning sausages:Magyar, Lincoln, Old Original, Cumberland Gold or Robin Hood venison & pork. Served with wholegrain mash and thick English gravy~The Sweet Snobby DogChoose from either: a chocolate, cappuccino and chili sausage or caramelised banana filled hot dog doughnut bun with and raspberry coulis ketchup and custard mustardOh, and btw before we horrify any Americans, "faggots" in this case is a spicy, large sized meatball cooked with grain, somewhat similar to a haggis. They're popular in the north of England and extremely nice, Mrs. Dark has great fun telling everyone back in Pennsylvania how she enjoys roast faggots for tea .The meal itself was lovely. Though it was obviously heavy on the meat, things  calculated so you didn't end up feeling bloated afterwards, the dessert was particularly awesome, which yes, did indeed look like a hot dog, but with a doughnut instead of a hot dog bun. the Pork sausage with chocolate and chilly was not as sweet as it sounds, but went very well with the doughnut, even my dad, who is not a lover of desserts really enjoyed it. also, the Hungarian sauce with the faggots was really nice, though as I am a fan of goulash and the sauce was a  recipe it  definitely my sort of thing.Sadly today grub will be a bit more ordinary, as I'm staying at my parents for a  days my mum will probably do porridge and maple syrup for breakfast, though as its about six in the morning here at the second that probably won't be for a few hours . Usually its my mum who cooks because she always does, though dad cooks occasionally, he tends to be a bit more experimental where mum is a bit more traditional. Ironically in my case its usually me who cooks, though often my  definition of "cooking" just involves chucking stuff in the oven or at most slinging some meet and some cook in sauce into the slow cooker and letting it sit  a few hours.

Re: Honest discussion, why pay for and use jaws over free screen readers?

I actually agree about virtual curser support, since that is oen feature of Supernova I miss in NVdA. While you can get a long way with object navigation keys in NvdA there are situations where they are less convenient, though this is one thing I've seen improve. I will say though console window support in NVdA isn't something I've had issues with once i started to use object nav keys, indeed while the virtual curser in NVdA is not as sophisticated as Supernova's (or at least the way Supernova's used to work in Xp and windows 7), the reading of incoming text in NvdA is superior to Sueprnova's. As to office support I can't speak for Xl since I never used the thing, but I never had issues with NVdA and MS word, which is a program I use on a daily basis. Microsoft Outlook is mostly okay as well, though to be honest I've never liked outlook anyway, it just seems overly complex and cluttered and has done ever since the Xp days, which is why I used outlook express, and now Thunderbird. I can't speak for Jaws here, and likely won't be able to until they actually charge a fair price.

Re: Trimps

2019-03-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Trimps

The clickables in the map chamber are to save and reset map configs,  the position of your sliders and the combo box, that is why there is a 1 2 3 clickable in there since they are preset positions, though since the buttons for dealing with them aren't labeled I've just done as Origine said and used the combo box as a nav point and gone from there. The only other weird thing with the map chamber, is I've noticed that sometimes if  move one slider up or down a bit, the level spinabble can change, which can sometimes be a pain if your experimenting with trying to get the best quality map with a limited number of fragments. As to traps, Yeah, I'm trying for the 100 traps myself, I left my pc running all night, but I'm not quite there yet. Its mildly anoying since I am using a laptop at the moment and its less wise to just leave a laptop running for long periods, plus of course the NvdA laptop keys for tooltips are a little less convenient than the desktop versions. Speaking of tooltips, The more I play, the more I look forward to the tooltip fix, since as you get further on in the game, you need to calculate a bit more costs vs upgrade bennifits, and thus be able to compare  and bennifits for say a hut or a house, or an equipment upgrade vs the mroe expensive presteige  a bit more quickly.Btw, as regards traps, that confused me at first. Basically, trapping is an auto player activity like gathering, chopping, mining, researching  or building. when your  trapping, you'll essentially speed up your trimps breed rate by  ten traps per second to catch as many trimps  you have levels in the bates perk, provided you have traps to spare of course, since you get to a point where your trimps are fighting in the thousands, so you need to wait a while for your trimps to breed up a reasonable fighting population again, it can be a handy way of augmenting your progress on harder maps when your fighting enemies who take extra hits  take out. like the blimps you run into at the end of every zone.

I'm sorry you and a couple others feel offended by my attempt to keep this topic on topic, instead of drifting into subjects that are of little concern to me. Again, if you know of any software that allows people to transfer the contents of an hdd boot drive over to an sdd and works well with NVDA, then please I hope you will be willing to share your knowledge with me, so I can make the transfer with as little trouble as possible. If you don't, then thanks and have a good day.Hijacker, they do indeed explain the process, what they don't explain, and what I've repeatedly asked for and tried to keep this thread on point for, is which cloning software is accessible to NVDA. Sure, I could experiment to try and find the software that is accessible, but then I'd be risking blowing up my boot drive in the process, which doesn't exactly thrill me. Again, if anybody has an idea of what drive cloning software may work well NVDA, by all meanings I would appreciate the suggestions, tips, whatever, but if you really feel it necessary to waste your time and mine giving me a detailed analysis on the differences between hdd's and sdd's, then I'll thank you and wish you a good day as well.

Do you still need an add-on to do something as simple as use Dropbox with NVDA? I never did quite get that. Aside from that, if I'm testing something in a VM, NVDA is perfect. If I'm doing something actually productive, for example something I'm being paid to do, it's JAWS all the way. NVDA just isn't there yet. I have no doubt that one day it will be, though I'm curious if Narrator will beat it there, but it's not there yet. Until it is, what I have works--and if ever it doesn't, it's probably more Microsoft's fault than VFO.

Hello,My name is Christoper and I am an independent video game developer releasing under the name of Achebit. I recently had the idea to build an audio only game that could be played by people of all sight levels. It's a dungeon crawler and was initially developed for the 7DRL (seven day roguelike) game jam that just passed. I stumbled upon this community and the collection of audio games here and thought it would be the perfect place to share what I am working on.

Hijacker, considering all you did was repeated the same nonsense that didn't answer my question and isn't born out by doing a little research, you reaped what you sowed. Feel free to Google the topic and see all of the relevant articles from legit computer advice sources, PCMag naming one I found, maybe then you could offer an informed opinion on the topic here that might be of help. As I've said, there are  software titles I've found that do exactly what I'm talking about, I was just looking for opinions from people that might have used those pieces of software with NVDA successfully or not. Titles like Macrium Reflect, EaseUs TotalBackup, and who knows what else all offer this, though my experience before with EaseUs was that it wasn't very friendly. If you've used any such piece of software successfully or not, then by all means I'm interested to hear what you may have to contribute. But if your goal is simply to lecture me on the differences between the two types of drives nand inaccurate statements on how what I'm trying to do is impossible, which doesn't answer my question at all, then by all means have a nice life.

Re: Honest discussion, why pay for and use jaws over free screen readers?

I find it amusing that, in a topic where the original poster is asking about the merits of JAWS, there are so many posts where people are professing the merits of NVDA. Seems a bit off topic?I myself have always loved JAWS, and while I've started to use NVDA lately, it's neither through a desire to switch nor on any fault of JAWS itself. JAWS to me is straight forward in its operation, gives me a virtual mouse cursor with which I can review and interaction with the screen (and which I find works much better than NVDA's review options in many cases), allows me to quickly and easily script different behaviours when required (I find JScript much easier than having to learn Python), and of course has natively baked in support for many applications. The recent trend of adding slightly frivolous features is I think a result of JAWS dropping out of the professional market and into the home user arena, but even some of those frivolous features can sometimes be useful.JAWS works a lot better in console applications than I believe NVDA does, as there have definitely been times I could not get NVDA to in any way read a console window (such as the command prompt). I also prefer to use JAWS in MUSHClient, since I grew up with GMUD, and so are used to playing MUD's with the JAWS cursor to review the screen, rather than having to control tab to a separate review window. But it's for reasons like this that I don't mind using both. As with a set of kitchen tools, there will be things you'd use a fork for, and there will be things you'd use a spoon for, and others you can use either (and in those cases, personal preference is the only thing to consider).Kai

Re: Honest discussion, why pay for and use jaws over free screen readers?

Except NVDA are falling behind. Come on already, Office support should be one of the staples of any screen reader since its so widely used, this means fixing issues promptly when they come out. Also, why then, do they have over 2,000 open issues if they're staying on top of things. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, NVDA has some major issues, and their hacky work around UIA patch is just a bandaid over a much larger issue. No need to get all passive aggressive either, that kind of thing isn't warranted in a discourse that's meant to be civil.

Re: Honest discussion, why pay for and use jaws over free screen readers?

It's okay, we get that you are not happy with NVDA, but you do not have to voice it in every post. This does not show that NVDA is falling behind, it shows that VFO came up with something actually innovative, which is not bad at all considering that first they didn't do something innovative for quite a while, and second it can bring something new to NVDA as well. Screen reader competition can be only a good thing, and who says browse mode wont be available just like virtual cursor at some point. When audio ducking was introduced in NVDA, Jaws introduced it shortly after. When command search was introduced in Jaws, NVDA provided something similar in it's input gestures dialog. So instead of complaining on the first day something new comes, just be patient for a while, perhaps request it as a feature with a good use case and somebody will definitely take it into consideration. There are numerous examples of screen readers basing features on one another, so I would not be surprised if it happens, however people will still complain, in that case that NVDA copies Jaws, because some users are never happy. By the way, latest NVDA should introduce performance improvements to Office, which should be released in about a month, so that shows how much Nv Access isn't listening to people and lacks good programmers.

I have it from my wife they were supposedly also pizza and that they were shaped more like triangles, but the piece I got was squarish, meaning she didn't cut it right... Ha ha ha!  I had apple pie for breakfast, because I don't really know how to be original and skipped lunch altogether.Tomorrow, I know that I'm in charge of making oatmeal and buttered toast for a certain woman who shall not be named...  I'm still not sure what I'll be eating for breakfast, which is partially why I started this topic; maybe you'll help me?Oh, and BTW, just talk about food, even if you're not eating it!  Chicken wings, candy, potato chips, hamburgers, ice cream, pickly pickled pickles pickled by picklers... I have two cats talking about food on my bed!  What more can you do!

Re: how to get blastbay Film Score Themes?

Allow me to point out that this royalty free music arrangement has been made by one Quinton Pendle, well known for his musical ability in games? Also, you do not need to buy the entire pack if you don't need it, that's why individual tracks and disks are available. I believe individual tracks are 10 bucks, which is a good deal (if you look at musicloops.com, a slightly more generic quality of loops similar to that can be about 40 bucks (expensive!)However, if Philip is reading this I do have a question. Have you considered audioblocks.com? The market is moving towards sites for creatives to upload their content to that features a subscription model for end users. For example, audioblocks, at $15 a month, gives you access to a massive library of assorted sound effects you can download and they're yours to keep. Search facilities allow you to search various sounds and download them, and they have a good assortment of both sounds and production music. Great for someone who has a lot of sounds to search for but a library for some reason doesn't cover all of them. I believe they might still accept music contributions to the site, so you may want to have a look if that's something you'd potentially want the royalty free music to be on.

Hi there. So first of all, I'd like to apologize if the topic is posted in the wrong section, so feel free to move it if it's wrong.I've made an editor which allows you to convert asciimath, which is a language used to write math formulas and arithmetic operations to mathML and display .the output in math ML which is the math that browsers understand and which is the math that sighted people can see, on the browser. So for example, if you would write sqrt(3) and then convert the typed opeation, on the browser you would see the equivalent operation just in a format which sighted people can understand. so if your teacher wants to see the output to which he's used to this will be probably an handy tool. The application actually interfaces to an API which converts the language to mathML, I just built the editor to make it easier. This won't probably be useful to many, however if for example you are at school and you want to display the output of the math operations you've wrote to the teacher, who does not want to bother to learn the language you're using for math (which is my case), it will be useful.Obviously this is a first version made as a weekend project, I just thought it would have been useful. To learn more about asciimath you can head over hereUsing the editor is quite trivialWhen you press enter on the application, you will be in an untitled field, where you can write your math operations. Once done to have the graphical output, press f5. This will open your browser with the proper output if things went correctly. If you're interested feel free to download it hereIf you wish, you can send feedback/suggestions, it would help me a lot. Even because I will be using this thing at school, so you will probably give me an idea to improve it even more. Thanks in advance.

Re: Trimps

When you are in the map creation, you can see all your maps under Select a map. What do you mean unlabeled clickables, what do they do?When you run a map, under the auto fight switch, there is a "maps" clickable. It has a number in parentheses, this is how many times you've beaten the map, but it caps at 10. This is to keep track of the bonus you will get on the zone.I don't know if you knew, but say you are at zone 25. If you make a level 25 map and beat it 3 times, you will see "maps (3)". If you go back to the world, you will deal 130% damage on zone 25. This bonus caps to 200%, hence 10 times. You will also see that bonus in the zone heading. When you get to zone 26, you will loose that bonus and will have to beat level 26 maps to get that bonus again.

You can also download this text file and parse it: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sujit … onary.txt.Take a look at it, as if it suits your needs, it's gonna be really fast in your program. You can transform this file into a preprocessed format for your application, load it when it starts and have offline really fast lookup. I don't know if it is obvious to you, but use a hashed associative collection for constant time lookup, linear lookup could get long with that many words.

Re: Any english dictionary API out there?

Usually APIs require keys to limit the usage and offer different pricing and also to prevent denial of service attacks. However, I did find one that doesn't require any key. It uses dict.org, there is a C# client app consuming this api on this web page: http://www.aonaware.com/dictservicesample.htm.It seemed a bit dated, so I tried it out and it still works. You can download the zip on that page and try the command line tool for yourself, just pass the arguments "define wheel" to the exe and it will output the definition of wheel. It supports a lot of different sources, you can limit your search to only one dictionary if you like. There is a help on all of the command line options of course. You have access to the C# source code, it shouldn't be too complicated if you know C# or Java. Don't get confused with all the command line parsing code. If you are doing your app in a different language, you will only care about the calls made to the API, just read the code or use the app while capturing the HTTP traffic with Fiddler, it's a web proxy and it's fairly accessible. Hope it helps.

I am not entirely sure how this is going to work, but my guess is that it will probably use the pc power. WHether that means sfv will work, that's quite likely as that game has controller support. Audiogames on the other hand, I'm not sure, maybe only ones with controller support as well, unless they add keyboard. Also, does this include game sounds, or graphics only, that's another question.

Rhythm Rage is like beat star. A certain sound or phrase gives you a command. You either respond to that command by pressing a certain key after a specific amount of time, pressing a key multiple times in a rhythm, or holding a key for a duration of time. It is a really fun game and can be extremely challenging. The cool thing about rhythm rage is you can code your own levels in a pack and submit that pack for everyone to play your soundpack, with your chosen sounds, music, and levels. What is the level creator? It makes it to where you can play through your level and it creates the code for you as you play. So you don't have to spend time copying and pasting code. You can just hit the keystrokes and create the level by playing through it as if you have already created the level. Super useful and quick.

I recycle maps when I'm done with them so it keeps the list small. Hope that helps.

Re: New Text-based Roguelike For IOS and Android: Path Of Adventure

Hi Keeweed, I really admire all the work your putting into this game, and keeping up with the forums. I was just over at the applevis site  You’re doing a great job of answering the questions, and if I make it to the hydra on my current mage quest I’ll let you know if the ring lets you trap the end boss.I’ll keep an eye out for the collar, no spoilers, I can’t wait to see if it’s still the same.I had of course figured out exactly how the new ring of brawn works, - and a tip to all players reading this, the ring of stealth lets you avoid falling rocks, something to keep in mind when deciding how to use your precious keys. The real thing I need to know is whether an enemy can dodge an attack when the ring is fully charged. It’s difficult testing this out, and I haven’t seen an enemy dodge a charged hit yet. If this is part of the game, great, I love it. There are some instances where the guaranteed hit may be your only chance.About old game content, and new game ideas. I kinda miss starting with the gnome as a thief. Now it just seems more lonely, and I thought that the gnome added little enough that it wasn’t being too easy for the most difficult setting, - although I still like the idea of a cursed mode, start with the stats of a thief, but no starting weapons or equipment, and a curse that takes 1 point of life for each day on the path. To make it kinda interesting you could have a cursed ring that breaks on day 49 or something. Also, I guess the gnome is more powerful now that he snoops in pockets, so I’d understand the thief not getting this right away, I just liked having some company.Another idea for the gnome is that maybe he could tell you whether an item is cursed or enchanted, or if that’s too easy, maybe the story could say something to the effect of “the peeping gnome notices strange markings on this weapon, it might be enchanted or it could be cursed.” Just a minor idea though, not really necessary.I like the interesting challenges presented in the new crystal quest, it does make it more interesting, but however you change things up I think it would be a little better gameplay if the crown wasn’t left up to chance as much. The earlier version made getting the crown pretty straight forward, now there are a number of times where I couldn’t pass the crystal test. LOL – one time I ate 3 unidentified mushrooms hoping one of them would poisin me. When I went into the cave I had increased my attack, speed and defence, I was thinking, that anything still left in the cave would likely die of sheer terror, but it didn’t get me the shard.I’m not sure how to do this, I understand you want something that’s not just another dungeon. Some kind of puzzle or riddle where you could collect clues or something. I know introducing new content at this point is difficult.there is a lot of great content already, and I like the idea of the new tasks, I just want to see those tasks associated with enchantments, glad you’re giving the idea some thought.I hope you come up with something clever, but not too challenging for the item for the witch queen. @ Mitch, wait until you step on a armored worms toes (grin) or one of my favorites - you purchase a key and the merchants says "I've got one just like it at home" - I bet he does.

Re: a huge ass update to the RR level creator, finally has data support!

It's great that you found a project like that to learn programming concepts. Usually it's what most people are lacking, ideas to practice. What is rhythm rage ? Like a guitar hero ?Keep up the good work. Also, if you want to start a project eventually in another language, don't be scared to jump in, you'll see it's very easy to switch languages when you understand the concepts. The second language takes a bit longer, but after you can learn a new language in less than a week.

Re: Software similar to tactileware, the vOICe or brushtone

No, The vOICe does work on windows 10. It actually works on a surprising number of windows versions, including windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, and 8. Even if it didn't, there's a web based version you can use in your browser, although you should have a camera plugged in for that one. Worst case you could try BrushTone which has a similar built in sonifier, i've tested it successfully on Windows 10.

You could purchase it from Ivona, but now, I think they were bought by amazon to use the voices in their products.

Re: a huge ass update to the RR level creator, finally has data support!

All bgt. To be honest, this project isn't about making it good and high quality for people to use. I just wanted to attempt building something like this and see how far I could get. And when I did make it, I said, why not release it to the public. So I did. But it is me just experimenting with bgt and seeing how far I can go with this, it isn't made for actual high quality professional user experience. But version 6 will attempt to make it more so that way. When I received feedback on version 2, I knew I was disappointing people, because they wanted a high quality product that had several things and such that I just didn't have the skills for. But I've been playing around with it, and asked for help every now and then, and eventually I was able to expand it and add more features and stuff. So I'm glad I was able to make it better, but in no way was this ever intended for professional high quality use, it has just been a fun project. I'm honestly surprised no one has made a better version than mine yet, it wouldn't take more than a week for someone who knew what they were doing. But I do not know completely what I am doing, that's why it is a fun process, and don't expect professional work. I will do my best to get features in, but they might not be the best quality. That's ok though, this project is mainly meant for personal challenges with coding. I have learned a lot from this project.Oriol could probably made this creator himself and it be the best thing ever! I would still work on mine, because it has taught me a lot of skills. Working with string manipulation and arrays are the main things it has taught me how to do. Even if he did release his own creator, I'd still put mine out there for people to use if they so choosed. To admit I would most likely use his creator more than mine lol.
