I definitely agree. and I think, the main reason this happened to games so much was because back in the days of the ps2, and to a certain extent the wii, there wasnt enough decent internet capability to be worth the trouble. The wii, while it was considered a sixth generation console, is certainy a step behind the ps3 and xbox360 in terms of hardware. But I still have my ps2... and still play it occasionally. Classics will always be classics, after all. I even have my original psx, which still works after all these years. But I agree with you about tts implementation being more of a matter of convincing the big companies that its worth it, which will, realistically speaking, be very difficult... but with sony introducing accessibility for party chat and general game chat messages, lets see what comes in the future.

I think you might be mistaken... there was certainly no mac app store back in 1999. The closest I could think of is Mortal Kombat Arcade collection, which is a recent title available on steam if I remember right... the person running it on a mac probably used either bootcamp or a VM to play.

Right, too much for that lol. Anyways, dogs also have a type of poison, so be careful. The pardijujdatic poison in dogs arent as potant as the poison in cats, but yet...theyre potant enough to make a person thats trying to type something, type something else instead. I remember being infected by this, and typed the ancient language of Ralosusakinetarius. I went to the Hospital for Spamroadimusematic Poisons, and had to take the oilasisutumeroicsamotoirusaotic acetate capsul. 10 capsuls a day! Really, I wish theyd make it more potant, the capsul... Well, or destroy the originl sources of these spammertrooperrobot-created diseases...

Well… I want continue with this discussion that is so fun, but currently I don’t have the time for that.The only that I Can say, is:1.  You really forget that the new systems are too much modular in their designs, and for that, implement new features like a tts in high level isn’t very hard, or expensive. Nintendo do this with a lot of features in the last months, including miiverse for 3ds (in the first version of it firmware it doesn’t have this functionality), amiivos for wii u, the fast shortcut menu for the gamepad in the wii u (This is a major redesign and their did with a simple patch!) and some other. Viewing this changes, really do you tthink that implement a tts is a hard issue?2.  Referring the open source issue, well, not all is loose with this. Nintendo can made a free patch for tts systems, include it as an extra and optional module for their system, and for respect the open source issue, it can release it with the source of the module, or similar. Or… what, pay to nuanse, sepstral, or something different, I don’t think that is as expensive for a large company sutch is Nintendo. If sony currently implement the bases for this… Why Nintendo can’t do the same?3.  Respecting the interest of companies for give support to their gamesfor accessibility, well, Netherealm studios do it. They released a small patch to their game Injustice God Amon us, that give a small option to enable accessibility in battles. This small accessibility is a simple beep for indicate to the players when a throwable object is in front of them.4.  This topic reduces a simply one thing. If the companies want to support us. If they want, they can do in a few months. If they don’t want, simply we’ve to wait for a long long time.

Ive got the demo until I can buy it this month, but like, jump around a lot, seriously, its the fastest way to move. Well, unless you get the speed drug.Try to solo the factory, since your guys tend to use their explosives rather than holding onto them. Use explosives at the prison. The first cells hold the weaker prisoners, while the further back ones hold stronger ones, but, theyre under heavier doors. When getting cash, if you need to solo it, go straight for the vaults, just keep jumping to the right, hopefully outrunning the po po, thus, you can get there in time to start breaking open the vaults before they get there. Hopefully, you can break open the first vault before they get there, or if not, then only a few of them get there. Tap space as fast as you can on the vaults and try not to move to break them open. Know when to leave a mission, for example, if the hospital is swarming with cops, then youll most likely be using most of the medkits you pick up, 
 just to stay in the fight, this is stupid. Get in there, and get as much as you can and get out before it becomes popo central. I cant wait till I can get enough to afford the full version, probably soon.

Hello,I wouldnt mind starting a blog myself. I dont really know too much about wordpress, Id imagine its confusing though because theres a lot of features, but maybe there could be a more basic version available. Im not too sure.Im quite interested in the worlds of Big Finish, it will be an interesting crossover. Although, Ive still got to finish Dark Eyes 1 first!I havent posted in this topic for a while because Ive been trying to figure out what, and how, to post what happened in April and early May. I consider myself very lucky, because I got to go to orlando to the theme parks, and the trouble with that, is so much stuff happened I dndt know how to word it but I tried several times. The new rides are good though, Ill say that much, it puts the UKs theme parks to shame. There is atmosphere everywhere, even in the queue lines, so it doesnt reall feel like a queue. Youve al
 so got your fast pass so you can book times to do rides if you want to as well. I enjoyed Space Mountain, which Ive actually not done before even though Ive been a couple of times.I also enjoyed the harry potter stuff at Universal, it is very immersive. Its kind of hidden from the rest of the park, so basically, its easy to find but as you go through the entrance of the potter area the rest of the park kind of vanishes behind you and the sound surrounds you. Going down into the Gringotts vaults was awesome, along with going to Hogwarts and flying with harry. I think Gringotts was slightly better though because there seemed to be more music, and the fact that you encounter Voldemort really brings something the Hogwarts ride didnt. I think everyone was expecting Voldemort when Hogsmeed and Hogwarts opened, but that never happened, so I think they tried to make it pu to everyone by putting him in the Gringotts ride climax. Its a little strange 
 cannon wise but it does also work.

Thank you so much! The Open Game Art link has been the most fruitful thus far, but I may not use some of the things I downloaded. Some pieces are pretty and I can see (or rather, hear) them fitting in somewhere, but at the same time, I might find other tracks that suit my plans better (or have them made for me. Thats possible too). There was one music pack I tried to download, but it kept stopping after a few MB and never got more than a third of the way through the download despite my internet connection being fine. This was a real shame, as I had downloaded some of the creators other music and loved it, and really wanted that ZIP folder!  My browsers never done that with ZIP folders before and I tried downloading another from the same site which succeeded.Im still keeping my options open. Thank you for the help youve given so

But ¿what about the information of others players and items on the floor? You send every frame to the client all information of other players and items? Or only you refresh the important information of these. For example, if a player is in the cords x, y, you send to that client, only the information of x, y tyles around it? Or you send the information of players that are in the other point of the map.Maybe with this, you can reduce the size of packets for all clients, but increase the charge of the server, for calculate the important information for each player. And of course put some verification for any client, can’t update information of other client. For example, client a can’t send information of auto hurting for a client b.Or similar thinks to Try protect the information of all players.Well, this is very interesting, but expose in public the security improvements for the game it is really a security risk xd.Well Sam, good luck with this. With this, you’ve one more thing to do in the game. The security issue is really a total new bunch of code to do, test, and improve and well, some things to investigate. X3u.

If were talking about current games that wed like to see in accessible form, Id love to see something like shadows of Mordor. Not just because it is a lotr game, (particularly sinse I have to put my tolkien sensabilities away), but because of how the players actions affect the story. Its an action rpg where you play a ranger infiltrating mordor, however depending upon what routes you choose in the story, and whom yu decide to kill, the npcs shuffle around. So if you fight an orc Captain and kill them, their next in command will take over, in turn they may assassinate someone else. Each orc officer the game generates has a slightly different set of stats and powers and a name, and can interact with other npcs outside the players control, meaning that the route the story takes and whom you fight as enemies can vary. Actually, much as Id love a huge final fantasy style rpg with a massive area to explore and fixed pl
 ot, Id also be up for something more action based and random in the Diablo style as well, particularly if the jobs in the game were as diverse as some of the diablo ones, like witch doctors who have curses and summonable creatures to play with, sinse the more random the game the more replay value it has, although of course a huge game with a fixe story could be replayable enough if it had a sufficiently major amount of exploring and side quests and extra items to find and such.

Use the numbers of the keyboard. You cant do so before the 3 numbers have presented; it takes around 3 seconds. If you read the clipboard, and it contains 27, you can start to type.

Now one thing I thought about in a long time was an educational game which simulated real trafic in real time. For example, you could drive your car, stop when you encountered a red light or a stop sign, be penalized randomly if you did not, for instance, turn the lights on before making a turn, and of course, it could have a bit of defensive direction to avoid crazy drivers as well! Fun!

I made a rather different image-to-sound program, whose biggest disadvantage compared to the vOICe is that it doesnt do the whole image at once (I meant to add this feature, but never got around to it). In its current form, it lets you move around a cursor (currently via the arrow keys, but the mouse or a touch screen would work as well in theory), and not only does it play a sound representing the color at that position, but it does ray-scanning for the nearest areas of different color, to give a sense of what is nearby. (It does have a means of detecting shading, also.)I found that most game images are too complicated to get much out of them using sound, this way or with the vOICe. I tried it on screenshots from Sonic 3 (way too much going on in the background), and even on sprite sheets from Streets of Rage (I could find individual sprites, but couldnt make sense of what positions they were supposed to 
 be in).It does include a method of converting images to braille, but I couldnt get my braille display to work in order to test it.I dont see it playing well with the vOICe in its current form, but now Im wondering if it could be adapted to work together with something similar.

Psycho Strike any hints or tips

Hi all. Its been a while since I have played an audio game until my friend told me about pshyco strike. I have managed to get tons of weapons but Im having real issues with the prison to get extra gang members. Is it best to use fists on the doors they seem to take an age to open. Is there any specific order you do the missions in. Are there any audio walk throughs of the game. Sorry Im out of touch a bit. thanks.

Monthly chat June 2015

Another month, another monthly chat topic. As usual, this is the place for any random and general conversations you want to make. Talk about life, the universe and everything (including cricket robots and the number 42), what your reading/watching/listening to/playing, about School, work, university or just general laziness, about frolicccs, fripparies and frothy frogs. As usual I get to go first. its an unfare system I know, but its only unfare to people who arent me so its not a problem from where Im standing . Things have been a little quieter, well at least until a hole bunch of things came up at once a few days ago and Ive been running around getting things done. Right now today I have three main projects I need to work on, first, Ive just finished C S friedmans black sun rising and I want to do a b
 ook review, then i want to see if I can rewrite the front of site explanation to be a trifle more updated, and then! I am in the middle of learning errantry by Donald swan. Its one of tolkiens poems set to music but is one of the most amazing settings ever, though its a real challenge to sing. In between all of that I do want to play a bit more of adventure to fate today and maybe start on another of the choiceofgames titles. As I said in general game discussion I really! enjoyed the shadow horror which has spurred me to play more of them, though Im also just finishing worlds of big finish which was the bf crossover between Graceless, Dorian grey, Sherloc, Holmes, Iris wild time and Vienna. I wouldnt have expected those to work, particularly because Vienna is futuristic, Graceless hops about in time like Doctor who, and Iris is just whacky, while the other two are pretty firmly 19th (and to an extent with Dorian), 20th century and modern day. But
  the plot seems to be working with a book that predicts a transtemporal invasion, I particularly liked Iris going back in time to defuse a bomb that Sherlock holmes found in an earlier story, albeit that the big bad enemy doesnt really seem to live up to being big and bad thus far, stil Ive got a bit more to go so well see. So lots of stuff happening, and projects to be doing. Ive actually considered starting a blog sinse I have so many random things in my life from literature to games to philosophy, but when I looked at blog software wordpress console was as confusing as heck, and Blogspots console was %100 inaccessible, though at least with a blogger account I can now comment other peoples blogs which is handy. Still I suppose blog suggestions probably would need their own topic.

Hi Scot and welcome to the forum. I confess I wasnt fully aware of the circumstances with the vr gameplay, and unfortunately basic, reactive audiogames have sort of been the bane of the genre. I do find the idea of analogue physical movement combined with fully immersive audio an interesting one however, sinsjust as a person in mormal space tracking sounds will use their bodily position to estimate where sound sources are relative to them, so the same is true for analogue physical control in audiogames thus providing an extra layer of information not possible with basic keyboard inputs. As to games to try, you mention Pappasangre, however have you tried Somethinelse other title Audio defense zombie arena? Its a pure arcade zombie shooter where you are surrounded by zombies an need to kill them with various weapons. What however makes it unique are firstly the fact that the zombies have been coordinated for tactical play, eg, if you take out o
 ne of the farty zombies that explode itll take out some of the others, and the weapons you have are best used to complement each other. Secondly, you control the game with the gyro on your iphone and a set of headphones, meaning you need to physically turn! towards the zombies and shoot. I was quite impressed how I found my physical movements matching gun techniques in the game, for example I quickly learnt that instead of trying to turn my hole body to take out zombies close buy, I was better holding my phone between two hands and moving it like a gun to take out different targets, and only moving my feet when dealing with threats behind. Swamp is certainly something I would highly recommend as well. It is the first ever fully online audio multiplayer fps, in which players are in a town over run by zombies and must slay them. it has cooperative missions, loot, solo quests, different sectors and all sorts of fun stuff, however one very unique thing is
  the use of mouse for analogue control of your movements and shots, so many techniques from strafing to circling are possible. There is a huge variety of other games available, from audio stratogies like Time of conflict and Castaways to Flight simulators, racing titles, and even a couple (literally a couple), of audio rpgs, although there are destressingly many arcade reaction titles too, however in terms of their interesting control methods, audio defense and Swamp would be my first recommendations.use the gamelist link on the front of site to find the database entries for the games. Hth. Ill be interested to see what happens next in terms of audio Vr, indeed Aprone the developer of swamp is I believe working on similar projects currently.

Hi, I just purcheased the game and cant wait to play it. I like the fact that I can play it both on Windows and Mac for the same price. I cant wait till the new update comes out, and I havent even gotten the inicial game yet. Great job Mico and all. I lov the weather idea. Id love to also race against other vehicles. I believe that is what an awesome racing game should have. You can crash in to the other cars and make them run off the track and jump ahead of them while they try to start their car again and pull back on the road. I have an idea that Im not sure anyone has mentioned here yet. What about pit stops so you can get more feule for your car, and maybe the tires need to be changed cause you burned to much rubber. Also, what about an intire season and challenges for it? And you can whin the season cup.

ive found some bugs:the first one is when youre blocking, and youre killed from the oposite side. in other words, when youre blocking and youre killed from behind while blocking.the second one, is in 21-3. when you press enter at 0-0, 0-10, if the secret weapon is not there to pick up, you get an error if you press enter at these coordinates.

Disney World, Orlando is still my prime example of crowd control done right.The Memphis Pyramid (Tennessee, not Egypt) was recently sold, and converted into an enormous Basse Pro-shop. So my family decided to go check it out a couple weeks ago, and I was way too out of it to bother saying it in last months chat.I bring it up because, at first, my dad described it as Disney World for Rednecks. After a while, I pointed out that it was more comparable to Universal Studios, because the crowd control was... ah... not Disney quality.I normally wouldnt have been especially interested in a Basse Pro-shop, even one that was transformed into a mutant cross between a themepark and a shopping center, but this one actually did seem kinda impressive, chaotic swarm of rednecks aside. They managed to make it pretty atmospheric, but without the stupid amounts of heat humidity and 10 species of blood-sucking invertebrates that youd find in a real-life swamp-sedge
  river or lake. Had I not been really tired and really thirsty the whole time, I might have been able to take in a bit more to report on.As for now... I need to whack the American healthcare system with a few sticks until I actually have a doctor and can get insurance to pay for things. Then maybe see if I can come up with something to slay the Demon Lord of Sloth. Or rather, see if I can make noise at Doctors until they come up with something of Demon-slaying. The sooner I can pick up like everything since summer 2006 didnt happen, the better.In the mean time, I guess Im trying to catch up on BK3. Its a little frustrating in the sense that, not only do I have to wrestle with whatever neurological maladies have robbed me of my ability to hammer out epics in a week, but BK3 has raised the bar high enough that I have strong doubts that LC will stand a chance, even if it turns out perfectly as I invision. ... Wait, thats not how you spell 
 ot;invision? WTPF, English? ... Is it spelled with an e? Envision? Firefox thinks so. Hmmph, so be it, then.

can someone explain how the quick learner skill works? I killed a zombie on m 4 with the acr and it seemed that I only got 32 xp, is this correct or do certain weapons give more xp than others? Quick learner had the max value of 100 pts am I missing something or is it how it works? Also, the bug where the game starts you off with no armer on has gotten me killed twice now.

I didnt notice much with the Quick Learner skill either, but I think its for people who are very high level. I suspect that it starts giving you more the higher your level is.Ive taken to checking my armor as soon as I log in. Normally, if you find your weapons are all unloaded, thats a good sign that youll be missing your armor. Either way, just be sure to hit X before stepping out of any safe zone until that bug gets fixed.

Well, for those of you who dont know about the disaster at Elderoctoton Cavoir, apparently some of Yoshias chemicals managed to seep into the ground, most likely from all of the accumulated ash and small debris from the massive fire. Anyways, over time, runoff and erosion from the rains, though rare they were, helped that chemical matter seep into the Gagonee Yar river, which as you know runs directly under, and sometimes floods into, Elderoctoton Cavoir. Well it is believed that drinking the chemical-laden water caused a rapid mutation in the lizards, and one of their offspring turned into a huge version of the liza
 rd, and managed to have tripple the heads. Funny thing is, the reason for the many heads was actually cancer, -- the other heads were originally growths, but for some reason, drinking the poisoned water had extreme affects and allowed brains and teeth to develop in the growths. Apparently, (disturbing), the teeth literally chewed their way through the growths, and elongated to become talon-like structures, and the wait of them forsed the heads to stretch and taper at the ends, to become beek like in nature. Also due to the mutations, this poor lizard was born with Giantism, a disease that causes it to never stop growing. As for it being berried where its footprints stuck, yes that is exactly what happened. This, combined with the early death brought on by Giantism and all of the stone and such in his stomach, made this one, doomed, dragon. I hope that clears things up a bit.

Well you gotta get your priorities figured out, you need more people, however you need cash to pay those people, and food to feed them. But, you also need weapons to give them and medkits to keep them healthy. Also, the luxury items like bombs, which make breaking down doors in the prison a hell of a lot easier, are in the factory. And Drugs, which can beef up your character or one or all of your minions are in the casino. What Id do is first get some cash from the bank, take a trip to the weapons shop, then take a trip to the factory, then, get to the prison to get people out.You might also pick up knives up by killing cops so you may not need to visit the weapons shop. Like I said above, the quickest way to get places is constantly jumping, so be quick about these first couple of places. If you get people in the prison in the first doors, they are waek, and further in, they are i think either your level or the level of your highest char.Once you get em, you gotta keep em. 
 Make sure you pay them after each mission, check their loyalty. The best bit of audio I can recommend is PG13s lets play of it, its an archive of a 5 hour stream. go to www.pg13.tk and then scroll down to where it says strike your psyche. Youll hear background of one of their streams low in your ears, click on the episode first then move by heading level 2 until you hear something like complementary landmark, PG13 radio, go down and you should land on the pause button, hit enter on that to stop it, then control home to the top and go down to the player and hit enter on that play button. There are two players on the page, well actually more but just go to strike your Psyche and listen to that.

Breaking down doors does seem to get easier as you acquire stronger weapons and level up your people. I guess the durability of those obstacles doesnt scale the way the enemies do.You might want to get a bomb and just blow up a metal door to get a new member. The bank is easier at night.

@CAE_JonesHmm, I think you could try adapting your program to make a Match 3 game like Candy Crush, since you can tell what color your on and what adjacent colors are next to it, you then press a button to swap the colors and try to get 3 squares of the same color in a row. You also dont really need to know whats happening on the rest of the screen until you pan over it, and it would work well on a tablet. Or you could potentially adapt it into a Maze game, where you have to trace your way along lines of a particular color to get from start to finish, maybe even something like packman perhaps. These may depend on whether you can tell what position the adjacent squares are relative to your current position though, if thats the case, there could also be other potential applications for it as well.Color in Audio Games I think is best used as information, which is why I want to incorporate it. To give an example, lets say that the color red is represented by the sou
 nd of a trumpet, the color blue by a piano, and the color green by a drum. Now lets say your playing a side scrolling game and you hear a trumpet off to the right, that represents a powerup. Hear a drum further behind it? Thats an enemy. Hear a piano off to your left? Thats a door. Instead of associating each sound with a particular color, you associate the sound with a particular effect or object, the color in this case is purely arbitary and used by the game itself for data and tracking purposes, the players will never know what color the sound actually represents, and they dont need to. Audio games already do these sorts of things to a degree with 3D positional audio and representational sound effects, the difference is that this method maps those effects precisely to a position on the screen with greater accuracy.This has a lot of practical applications, for example in theory someone could make a top down Real Time Strategy game like Dune 2 or Command An
 d Conquer with different factions represented by different solid colors, by using the above method a non-sighted player could then tell where all the units are on the screen and who they belong too in a sweep because of the specific sound of each factions color.
