The Arachno sound font page actually links you to some resources.Personally, I just install the Bassmidi driver, set it to use the sound font in question, and set my midi editors to use bassmidi instead of the default.(I use Noteworthy Composer, because I cannot play on rhythm to save my life, 3 years in percussion or no, and it's quicker than having to play and memorize a million times before recording. I couldn't find a way to make entering notes by hand into QWS (Quick Windows Sequencer) as straightforward as NWC, but I do not pretend that NWC is especially accessible.)(If there's a way to use sound fonts and midis with games, that'd be nice... but it kinda relies on space efficiency. Are people going to be playing enough music that the space taken up by the sound font is less than that taken up by recordings? You'd also need to only download and install the sound font if it isn't already available, which is doable, I guess, but 
 involves extra steps. But, being that I got started back when filesize was actually relevant, I still freak out when things are bigger than they need to be.)

When I first played it, I had to get help finding directions to the areas in the tutorial. Not a problem in Achaea, lusternia or Atolia.

Thanks to all who offered sound design support.It was great to see such a quick response from the community.I believe I've got enough help at this point.I really appreciate the offers, especially as it is a volunteer role, and a time consuming one at that.@RTR_Assassin, the current dev version of the game only lets you do fine grained turning with the mouse, but I am considering adding the option to turn with the keyboard.I do believe that turning with the mouse ultimately leads to more accurate aiming, and I encourage everyone to give it a chance so they can compete on equal terms.Personally I navigate using the snap to cardinal direction keyboard commands, but navigation is different than aiming, at least for me.@nuno69, I don't have a mechanism for translation at this point, but I will ponder this.The game will eventually have a high degree of modding, which significantly complicates and limits translation.One op

It does indeed; moved. Although, to be fair, Hamachi is typically used by gamers.As to the question: have you considered just eliminating your need for Hamachi? There are several commie solutions, mostly VPNs. They aren't as fire-and-forget as Hamachi, for sure, but they work and you could use the same bastard addressing scheme Hamachi did, too, if you find yourself in love.  There is at least one solution, whose name I forget just now, that employs a completely peer-to-peer approach, so no client-server.  I could look that up for you.Finally, of course, it doesn't hurt to try and simply deploy game servers yourself, on your Internet connection.  Such things are not so hard when one knows how it's done.

[[wow]], this is a really cool game! Just got it yesterday, and have almost completed it.Rio_unesa, which part of the forest are you stuck on? If I remember correctly you just have to follow the mist song and the twinkling light noises in a specific pattern or the path will loop. I may be wrong about that though. Eventually you will fight the demon who will cure Louise of the poison.Now some questions of my own.I cannot get past that awful roof jumping scene where Louise tells you when to jump. The running starts, she says jump, so I swipe up on the screen. As soon as I land, she says jump again, but if I swipe up again, nothing happens and I fall to my death. What am I missing?I also, believe it or not, haven't mastered the art of destabilizing my enemy so I can do a combo. From what I understand, I have to raise my shield with a pinch gesture, then quickly lift my fingers right before the enemy attack hits, then start swinging my sword rapidly. But I
  either just block his attack because I lifted the shield too late or I end up getting hit with the attack. I've tried at every point during the attack phase that I can think of, but since I don't really know how it works, I can't be sure if I ever got it and just wasn't listening hard enough for the right sounds. In general I find the enemy sounds in this game a tad bit hard to predict, and I've gotten hit multiple times for mis-hearing a provoking gesture as an upcoming attack or unintentionally getting hit with an enemy combo. I'm tempted to ask someone if they can make a recording of how this combo aspect of the game works, just with one enemy, so I can hear it done properly. Is anyone here willing to do that?I do plan to record a gameplay myself, which at this rate shouldn't be too long in coming, since I have nearly beaten the game I think. I'm trying to help my friend get a bizarre microphone setup working but hopefully it will so
 und good, so him and I will probably both narrate the gameplay. It should be fun, and would, to my knowledge, be the first recording of actual gameplay available.

If I remember correctly you just have to follow the mist song and the twinkling light noises in a specific pattern or the path will loop. I may be wrong about that though. Eventually you will fight the demon who will cure Louise of the poison.Now some questions of my own.I cannot get past that awful roof jumping scene where Louise tells you when to jump. The running starts, she says jump, so I swipe up on the screen. As soon as I land, she says jump again, but if I swipe up again, nothing happens and I fall to my death. What am I missing?I also, believe it or not, haven't mastered the art of destabilizing my enemy so I can do a combo. From what I understand, I have to raise my shield with a pinch gesture, then quickly lift my fingers right before the enemy attack hits, then start swinging my sword rapidly. I

Some routers do support UPnP IGD or NAT-PMP though and there are accessible ways of using that, i.e. Windows Control Panel. You could try looking for your router in there to see if it's been discovered.

Hamachi sucks, the best way is to open up the ports on your router, though I know this is difficult, when you're fighting with not knowing how, plus to try to determine if your router's page is accessible and also what options to select. Giving a tutorial would not solve anything either because each router uses a different layout as far as the info you see when you log into it.

Hi. It's possible to play on as many servers as you like, however if you have time constraints prioritizing your servers might be tricky, as most alliances love active members and would kick those they deem "inactive". Earlier, a friend and I played on Australia 5. We did pretty well, but our alliance wanted a switch to the (then) new Australia 6, to improve our chances at actually winning on the server. So I had a lot of castles on Australia 5, but gave it far less attention considering that I wanted to build in the new server. And of course, when a war happens somewhere that takes up all your time.  So it entirely depends on you and whether you are okay with 2 servers at once.

Lol my question exactly.I just beat the game a few minutes ago, and am quite proud of myself. Lol. The ending isn't quite up to taste, but for me at least the final battle was hard. Not overly hard, but hard enough. It took me a good 9 or 10 attempts to do it, and that was without the knowhow to do combos.

Here's the thing, RTR is actually quite tactical, so I strongly disagree with Assault Freak. It all depends on how you play the game. If all you do is mash the control key over and over again and hope to get results, you will be disappointed. However, I use various strategies to gain advantages over other players. These may include hiding, using long-range weapons against enemies with short-range weapons, evading attacks by jumping and sidestepping, etc. So, it isn't as some say, a point and shoot game at all.However, I hope this game expands on the ideas of RTR and Swamp. I agree that more mission modes should be included. I would like to see a game mode that allows teams to attack bases and capture them. This would give players a goal to achieve. Also, the ability to call in airstrikes would prove useful against enemies who hide in buildings. These are all aspects of FPS games that are currently missing in RTR. So, including them here would refresh the FPS audio 
 gaming scene.

I keep hearing about the ironrealms muds, and have looked on the sites. I'll say the writeups and information look great,  even for a solo explorer and questing type like me, but then I hear tales of people having to literally write exam papers in the game. Also, I wonder from my perspective as admin guy, and because we want to add muds to our database which actively support persons of reduced visibility,  what adaptations Lusternia and the other Ironrealms games have in that regard, eg, low spam modes, aids to navigation, alternatives to ascii maps etc.

When I was a player, I didn't consider myself a great actor spewing forth Shakespearean prose. Rather, I just talked as I normally would about things in-game and never had an issue. Anyway, the Lusternia admin generally don't enforce or monitor everyone's RP -- it's more certain players who are sticklers about that type of thing. Some more than most!

Hi all,Well I have some good news to report. After reading a bit on Apple Vis, I figured out how to do combos! Using my new method of combat, I just beat King Thork in a single attempt, and only got hit maybe 3 times because of careless mistakes, but the battle was almost pathetically easy.spoilersstarthereandlastuntiltheendofthispost!Some people have had trouble with the forest level where you are on horseback rushing through the trees. Many people have had trouble because they don't know how the swiping works. It's actually very simple, just swipe very quickly in the direction Louise tells you. If she tells you to look out, it means you weren't fast enough and you've already collided with something. The only time you should have to swipe up in that level is to jump over the ravine at the end.Now I'll describe in detail how I fight enemies, and then get into the illusive c
 ombo gesture to destabilize the enemy. The reason I and a few others have had trouble with it is because the English explanation has been mis-translated, so I will clarify it. First I'll describe basic combat.Some enemies will taunt you or growl softly to themselves to let you know they're checking you out. Do not attack them when they're doing this, since you'll lose your balance for a short time, and the enemy will take advantage of this to get in a quick hit. You can, in some cases, raise your shield just fast enough to counter the hit, but that will only work if you are insanely fast, and will not do any damage to the enemy. Instead you have to wait until the enemy begins charging you, which is represented by either loud growling sounds from monsters, or haayaa battle cries from humans, demons etc. When you hear that sound, you can attack with your sword, but you've gotta be quick, especially since some of the attack sounds can be subtle. The game's English translation tels you to pinch your fingers on the screen to raise your shield,, and to discard or lift your fingers when the enemy attacks to destabilize him. This is only partially true. You do start by doing a pinch gesture to raise the shield, but lifting your fingers only removes the shield, it does not thrust it outward to destabilize the enemy. To thrust it outward you need to reverse pinch, or move your fingers outward, in the opposite direction of a pinch. You don't even have to have your shield raise to do it, just put two fingers on the screen close together and flick them rapidly in opposite directions. You have to do this when the enemy attacks or it will not affect the enemy. You'll hear an aggressive clank from your shield and the enemy will destabilize for about 2 seconds, so start swi
 nging your sword in their direction like mad! You can normally get around 4 quick swings in this way without fear of a surprise attack. As soon as your sword stops hitting the enemy, raise your shield and wait for the next moment to destabilize the enemy. This is highly affective against bad guys like King Thork, but won't work on some of the faster enemies like the guards in the banquet which ambush you from all sides and only go down with one or two hits.There are also certain significant attacks which your shield cannot block in key areas of the plot. In those spots, you are forced to make a quick attack at just the right moment. Roro, I have the game check your computers regional settings so it knows what money to say.  The only down side to that is that I know money in different places have different values and this game doesn't know how to take that into consideration.  For example, a $1000 television makes sense using US dollars.  If a player in China is playing U-Mart they might see a 1000 yen television, which is absurdly cheap, LOL!  So it tries to make people feel more at home, but the numbers themselves might be a bit unrealistic for the area you live in.

@nocturnus, that's fair enough! I enjoy a good break too, as much of a fighting fan as I am... you're right, there's only so much competetive fighting one can do before it gets dull. lol@rtr assassin, I wasn't the only one who described RTR as a point and shoot. lol But for all that there is hiding, long range weapons and jumping / side stepping, those aren't reallyy elements of tactics or strategy... that could be achieved with any game that has a short and long range weapon, jumping and side stepping and a place on a map to hide. But when push comes to shove and people all run into a room together, it turns into a bout of who can press the control key faster and who can spin around fast enough to center an enemy. I'm not saying RTR isn't fun, I enjoy it as well in short doses. but it is shallow... and as basically a game that seems to have no longer been expanded on for some time, it's lost a bit of its charm. Having said that, if t
 he game was to be worked on again, I definitely wouldn't mind it at all. I'll take any shooters I can get, though honestly, I don't think the term fps can be made with any distinction with audio gaming... since there's no difference between a first and third person view with only audio. At least, none I can think of at the moment. hahaha.

If you find something priced, let's say, $800 in the wearhouse, you might find that people aren't wanting to pay like $600, and thus you'll be losing $200 per item, which will let you lose some bucks: make sure you ask the market research team when you first launch the game and want to buy valuable items.2. @Aprone: The thing I liked about the game is that it used the money of my own country. In other words, it  uses the local money of the country the player lives in. So just out of curiosity, how did you figure that out? Is it done online or directly throughout a certain DLL? Just curious

Fair enough! Some people enjoy the community and roleplay aspect and some don't. I will note that while in-game you are supposed to play a role (wizard, warrior, etc.), many players are OOC in clan chats, etc.

I too have Aftershokz, and concur with Dark. I use them while out and listening to audiobooks. They allow you to listen, almost matter-of-factly, to your book while hearing things around you, but they obviously can't help with any distance you put between yourself and anybody who just happens to want to talk to you. The primary disadvantage of these I think are the weird itching sensation they produce in your ears, and the massive sound leakage. Both are acceptable tradeoffs for travel headphones (I'd never take my Senheisers out with me no matter what), but meh, if I could choose better, I would.

Ghorthalon is planning to update RTR, but it will take him a while. As far the FPS debate, you're right, it doesn't really matter if you even call it a FPS, or just a shooter. The point is well taken, more tactical elements should be introduced. This is why I suggest allowing maps to be 3d, so that a player could stand on a higher platform and shoot down at enemies using a sniper rifle. In RTR you can't do that as of yet. Again, allowing players to call for backup from the air force would also add more realism to the game.The other idea is to also include vehicles, such  as tanks and armored trucks. This wold allow players to move faster on the battle field and would provide a challenge for other players who don't have vehicles to shoot them down with anti-tank weapons. I know these ideas are going to take a while to implement, but they are something to consider in the future.

For visually impaired, we have a special screenreader command (CONFIG SCREENREADER ON/OFF) which will disable MXP and ANSI colour, suppress ASCII art and some quests that rely on ascii art will have alternate quests (not that many quests have been converted and we are experimenting with this feature).We recommend VIPMUD (http://www.gmagames.com/vipmud.shtml) rather than our online client for visually impaired (though I'm sure everyone here is probably familiar with that client!).Spam is an issue for everyone, of course! We do have a skill (obliviousness) in the Discipline skillset which cuts down on spam (i.e., only see your commands or yours and the target). I've talked to one of our visually impaired players and he said he just prefers to use vipmud and gag or substitute certain spam. As for maps, while you can turn maps off, we do not have an alternative to it other than memory, though in Lusterni
 a teleportation is a big thing which helps in navigation. In the old days most MUDs didn't have ascii maps so I don't think that's a big deal.Iron Realms has several notable visually impaired players, some of whom are the top combatants. In fact, one of the lead coders in Iron Realms' Achaea (who began as a player) is visually impaired so we are very conscious of these issues.

I can say from playing Achaea that you do have a degree of in game learning you need to do for the various houses, and that's just not my style. I'm there to have fun, not do research and take tests, though I won't knock it since it is very immersive and easy to slip into the world. All I'm saying is that its not for me. Keep as close to her as you can, and don't stray from the path she leads you on. When the guards start walking toward you, Louise will tell you to hurry, so just book it.Mr.brunete, I don't know of a way to record audio from IOS and the microphone at the same time unless you use a computer or recorder to capture the IOS device's output with a patch chord, and then use a separate microphone if you want to be able to talk over it. I'm not sure if there's a decent way to do it on IOS alone.

A Harry Potter fanfiction idea I have.

Hi,I've seen a few topics on Harry Potter fanfiction on this forum, so I figured I might as well throw an idea I have out here for your thaughts.This would be a series of 7 stories. The basic idea is that instead of hiding his horcruxes in locations that were special to him, Voldemort would hide them in different demensions. Voldemort would have the power to demension hop, and so would Harry, because of the proficy, marked as his equal and all that, although I'm still unsure about that reasoning. Harry would travel to all the different demensions and destroy the horcruxes, before traveling back to his own demension and killing his Voldemort. He would inhabit the body of the Harry Potter of that demension, so he'd have to deel with the situation in that demension . I'm not sure though whether I'd make up my own version of Harry and have him deel with a universe much like cannon, or have a pretty much cannon Harry. I'm also undecided on the 
 paring, I might not even have one, although I'm sorta leaning towards Harry/Daphne. The thing with Daphne though is you have to make up your own version of her, because in cannon she's only mensioned in passing once or twice. Although there are a few common personalities I see in fanfiction alot, such as the popular ice queen of slytherin thing.If you have any thaughts, ideas, or whatever about this, feel free to throw them out there. For any writers, you can even write this yourself if you like, as I don't even know if I'll get around to doing it.

@raygrote [[wow]], seriously? the bad translation explains why I could only get it to work a few times, I'm glad my phone took my lifting fingers as a finger flick, somehowas for the final boss being hard it only took me about 2 attempts not counting my first one where I'd lost a lot of health in the fight beforespoilerhe basically just constantly attacks, so just start swinging until he starts tauntinghe taunts once, once he stops talking he'll attack almost right awayusing that method I killed him without using my shield once, did it again afterwards using my shield and stuns and did not take a single damaging hit but I did come close, for some reason unequipping your shield when they talk makes them attack like you swung at them

My problem with the boss is that I could never get down his taunts versus his attacks, since i find his attack so sudden that I almost have to anticipate it to hit him on time. And of course if you hit at the wrong time while he's taunting, he'll get in a cheap hit on you. If I'm right, it may take less hits from him to kill you than it does with other enemies, but I'm just guessing. The only way I managed to do it without a lot of bloodshed on my end was to raise the shild, let him to a huge combo on me, then he'll stop and taunt, and that's when I'd come in with the reverse pinch gesture and give him a good combo and repeat the process until the final climactic hit. When I tried to anticipate his attacks quickly, I would get hit a lot more, so I took the whimpy strategy of just hiding like a coward until the perfect chance. Lol

lol well I suppose I can get that, too much time on my hands playing console action I think is the only reason I got it as fast as I didbut there's an interesting thing there, the time where the enemies will attack after you swing seems to end right after or very quickly after they're done their taunt animation, so you can basically just start swinging as soon as they're done and land an easy hit, just make sure you stop fast so you don't get a retaliation strike
