Re: questions for people who read novels

Oh yes,While reading these novels, I definitely felt that it's not so much about the discription of sex seens, but the relations being developed, the character development, the interesting twists and turns in the stories, these things kept me glued to JQ novels. If it was only about sex and erotic things, I don't know why I would read it.I am a young person, certainly don't need to worry about most of the stuff these articles and blogs talked about, not even looking for a relationship yet, and I guess I am yet to develop proper reading skills. The Corona pandemic, the sad things going around, and being frustrated at being trapped at home caused me to look for stories with happy endings, and JQ novels with a bit of comedy and guaranteed happy endings caught my attention. Plus I am a person who does take shortcuts in finding out new books to read, and new york best sellers lists is one of the places where I look for books when I don't know what to read.Thank you,

You can just takes all 10 of them at once. Make sure to walk slowly and make sure everyone is one tile behind you. If you need to turn and hit something, turn, then take 2 steps in the direction your turning to. This will make everyone one tile behind you once more, allowing you to hit what ever your trying to hit. If your having trubble because bomb spawning on the left, which is where your heading, make a good use of majic line to clear your path.Edit: The person will starts to walk towards the door as soon as you reach location 16, so stay at 17, wait for the next, what ever it is, clear it, then let them go.

2020-08-10 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : SLJ via Audiogames-reflector

Re: I'm thinking of getting an apple watch, is it worth it?

Hi @brad.Before you completely make your decision, I'll tell you some of the great things you'll get out of an Apple Watch. You can set the watch face to show how many steps you have taken, and you can very quickly check your activity. You can also check that on the phone, but it's easier on the watch. Keep in mind that the watch is better to detect your activities, since you are wearing it on your wrist, and not having it in the pocket like the phone.Regarding keeping track on your weight, I'll highly recommend you the Qardio base 2 scale. It is a mainstream scale which is fully accessible via an app on the phone. They have also made the app for the watch, but I haven't checked that out yet. The app is synced with the Health system on your phone, and you can always check your previous results. You can set up goals in the app, but I haven't tried that yet, so I can't say if it's accessible or not.Other daily uses of the Apple Watch:I'm the kind of person who likes my devices to be silent, because I'm traveling a lot with public transportations and are in public places with other people. When I walk outside, then I never miss any calls, because I have set my watch to vibrate like crazy when my phone rings. The same goes for text messages.I have configured my watch so it's only the important notifications which is displayed on my watch, and other less important notifications comes on my phone. That's a great way of keeping things less stressful in my opinion. Then, I really like the haptic time, where you can check the time via vibrations, so you don't disturb other people. I also like that you can adjust the volume of Voiceover, unlike most other talking watches. When Watch OS 7 comes, the accessibility in Voiceover will finally get a ton of improvements which I look very much forward to. I was giving up on the Apple watch because, compared to the other Apple products, Voiceover was extremely limited. In Watch OS 7, we'll get a rotor in Voiceover and Braille support for defblind people. Especially the rotor will make a huge difference for me. So I'll upgrade from my current Apple Watch second gen to the new 5 gen in the near future.Yes, the Apple watch is limited in many ways, and you can't get all your apps and functions from the phone on the watch. But I still find the watch very useful, especially when Watch OS 7 get released. It's pretty important to get the watch set up to your needs. Otherwise, it can be quite annoying. If you, or any others have any questions about the watch, then feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer.

Re: Interesting and unconventional uses of audio gear

Right now I am using Studio Recorder, which is okay for some things, but it doesn't have EQ or anything, although it lets you put marks in it and everything. That actually sounds interesting. My audiologist and I once talked about psychoacoustic, and one thing I've noticed was that if I recorded something and used my headphones or earbuds to monitor myself, and then I listened to it with my iPhone's speaker pressed against my right ear (the better ear), I am likely to hear things I've missed when I was wearing headphones. It's as though the higher frequencies are much more noticeable.I'm not sure how having a snuggly-fitting earmould or earbuds would damage hearing, though I suspect that there is a greater chance for earwax to build up, as well as the fact that you're sealing the air pressure caused by the vibrations, so it might slowly put a strain on your eardrums, even though the audio sounds good to you. I actually had an acoustic reflex test done several years ago because there were concerns that I was falling asleep a lot with earbuds in and playing different things.I already use behind-the-ear-style hearing aids, but I've always envied those with in-ear shells because they were almost totally inconspicuous as I didn't want people to yell at me or talk slowly, or even stop talking to me altogether once they found out that I had severe hearing loss, but that's another story.

Re: I'm thinking of getting an apple watch, is it worth it?

I don't need a computer to help me track my sleep. I do that practically automatically anyway -- that's trivial mathematical operations combined with an alarm to awaken me to force my circadian rhythm into a particular cycle that allows me to be productive while simultaneously attaining enough sleep (re: 8-9 hours, no more). Also, my body has a pretty good way of telling me when I've under-or over-slept. What can the sleep tracker in WatchOS offer that my body and a simple alarm app on my phone don't already? If nothing, then that's literally a useless waste of development skills (unless the devs are learning bioinformatics). Plus, we come back to the motivation factor too: if people want to over-sleep or under-sleep, technology isn't going to change that unless you start giving them electric shocks or something else to force them to react, and that can be trivially avoided by just turning it off.

I don’t think so, but then again, I don’t use those much. They are a bit expensive to create for my taste. as for having weaker minions, that is arguable. Can you actually back it up with some evidence? I’ve seen druids and necromancers in a group together, and the minions were pretty equal. One actual  downside for me is the lack of the spells underwater. Put a druid in something like underwater ruins, and they will struggle. There are spells, don’t get me wrong, stuff like solar flare works well, Druids are not as diverse underwater, however.

@7, fair enough. And yeah, I definitely like how I can write an app in any language for Windows or Linux without the vendor demanding "Use X". Because, of course, then they build the ABI around that language, or the way that language works, and so then if you want to work something in C or Go or Rust you have to construct this message over here and go add its parameters over there and then go dispatch it over here and then finally do this other stuff to get messages back. Which of course results in massively over-complicated and difficult to understand code. And yeah, Ican't find anything about that either -- calling objective-C from C at any rate.

Discord is MMMAAZINN. The only reason I'm keeping Skype around at this point is for the benefit of the one friend who finds sharing files easier through them, and the other friend I have a long-standing roleplay with that we can't move to discord because as yet, there's no way in-app to download the chat history.Discord is so much more organised than Skype ever was and I love everything about it except the 2000-character message limit, and even that I can work with. It took me two years before I tried it and I've never looked back since.

Re: mixing in reaper

Depends. The way I do it is insert a new track, add the instrument I want, move the play head so that it is equal to where I want it, and then I hit R. Otherwise if its something else, say like, a sample that I want to get exactly on the bass drop or something, then I paste the file wherever I want it.Also, it seems like you are fairly, if not fully, new to Reaper. Here are some commands to help you out.Control T: Creates a new track. You will be asked to input a name for the track, and then it will be created.F: Edit the effects of a track.Control Left / Right arrow: Cycle between items in a track.I: Edits the track settings, like volume, gain, pan, etc.Shift F: Edits the effects of the master track. The master track is the entire project iself. Anything you do here, such as adding reverb, changing volume, adding limiters, etc, will be reflected on your entire project.Shift I: Master track settings.Left and Right arrow: Adjust the play head in small increments.Up and Down arrow: Move between tracks.Page up: Move backward a measure on the head.Page down: Move forward a measure on the head.Control Page up: Move backward a beat on the head.Control Page down: Move forward a beat on the head.Control Home and End: Jump to the end or start of your project.Hope this helps, and good luck with your song.

Right now, it seems as if the puck moves randomly. my goal is to make it so that the puck moves according to which angle you shoot it from. I just need to patch some issues with it first, as my first attempt turned out to be a failure. But I am going to try again for the second time, as I think I might know what the issue is. But we'll have to wait and see.Anyways. If you guys have any suggestions, talk to me in the game, send me a Skype message at tunmi1112, twitter at Blind_tunmi13, or an e-mail at tunm...@mail.com. Re: Any way to make coding on MacOS non-painful?

@5Objective-c is what it is because it's older than mac.  They didn't keep using it because they wanted to be different.  They kept using it because they ended up in a position where Objective-C facilities are all but baked into the OS kernel.  You can't find C docs because Objective-C is the OS X and iOS ABI.It is actually possible to talk to it via C, but I don't remember how and I don't know that I can find the docs again--Apple's dev documentation is inaccessible on Windows because they got Aria wrong and ended up having a hidden table of contents that you can only see with the debugger, which was the last straw in me ever caring about the platform.  But how it works is you have to actually build Objective-C messages in C, and dispatch them through the Objective-C runtime.I'm reasonably sure Swift exists in part because the only way for Apple to have a programming language that doesn't have a bunch of weird edge cases all through it is for them to make it compatible at some level with the Objective-C ABI.  You can say what you want about Windows and Linux, but at least they don't shove a language down your throat.  I'm pretty sure Apple saw Objective-C as a mistake for much longer than they admit.  If you're big enough, tech debt is the mythical immovable object and you have no choice but to claim it was your plan all along.

Re: Any way to make coding on MacOS non-painful?

@2/@4 Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Maybe I could learn it given time, but I'm kind of at capacity for knowledge I have to keep in my head, and I already need to learn enough Cocoa plus how to call that from Rust that I don't have the bandwidth to add another screen reader on top of that. Ah well, fortunately it took all of 10 minutes to set up the remote VSCode integration, so that'll be my path forward. I'll give Apple credit for making it stupid simple to set up an SSH server without touching the command line, and for making the platform somewhat developer-friendly even if VO itself is a bit of a shitshow.@3 Respect to you for your choice of Emacs, but it just isn't for me. I actually used Emacspeak for a long time, but there's too much of a disconnect between that and, well, just about everything else I need.@5 Agreed with your Apple assessment. If someone hadn't literally bought me $1700 worth of Apple hardware, I'd just not care until some other Apple user came along and wanted my plugins on iOS. And if the code I need to maintain myself for cross-platform accessibility ends up being more than a few hundred lines, I may just put the project on hold for a few months and read up on Apple's mass of frameworks. But Apple's platforms were the last two I couldn't support, save for Playstation which I'm not going after anyway for what are likely obvious reasons, so I owe it to my donor to give it a good fighting shot. And to Apple's credit, I think their use of ObjC is more due to MacOS' NeXTSTEP roots as opposed to something they chose to be difficult.Anyhow, thanks folks. I was already pursuing the remote SSH option, but you've convinced me to stop trying to whip VSCode into shape under VoiceOver for now.

Re: pissed off about accessibility guides

@141FWIW the GPU-based GUI frameworks have lots of other problems.  It's the popular thing to do now, but in the process they'll reinvent everything the OS has to offer and still end up with a subpar experience even for the sighted, since hey, now you need a GPU.  Forget themes, for one thing, or any other integration with platform services.  Then a lot of controls will work slightly differently--for example textboxes and sometimes window resizing--and the framework has to go out of the way to implement the platform specific behavior they opted out of.There's a trend of pixel-perfect perfection, not in the "do my controls overlap" sense but in the anal-retentive "We chose ocean blue at sunrise and buttons must be 5 pixels apart. These buttons are 6 pixels apart and this looks more like ocean blue at sunset, you're on probation" sense.  At the end of the day the APIs all look the same as a user, unless you're dealing with something more interesting like React (which is working on Windows accessibility--I can't wait).  But it's easy to throw out literally everything, write a GUI framework that sort of kind of mostly works how you'd expect on all the platforms but with just enough frustrations that you can even find sighted users complaining about this trend with OpenGL, and have your pixel perfect fun at the cost of everything else in a weekend.  But since learning all the OSes is a rare skillset and playing with OpenGL isn't, well, here we are.But I get where you're coming from, I used to kind of think the same, surely these frameworks are all amazing and make writing a GUI not painful.  Haha no.  The only thing I've found that really succeeds at that is React native, and they're working on Windows accessibility and I can't wait.  But in general this is just one of those places where the world is sort of slowly getting worse because of coordination problems.  No one actually wins with this strategy.

Idk why though, maybe because its fun to them?I posted a fucking legitimate topic a few years ago asking how to get around a computer problem, and literally no one responded to it, which is fine by me, shit happens. But everyone wants to whine on this? When the dude straight up said "english is not my native language" And apologized on the last page. Whether he is trolling or not, getting pissy at this is comical.@35 Wow, look at you, you sound proud of yourself. Have fun with your bugs, dude!

Re: Any way to make coding on MacOS non-painful?

Agree with 4. I used to have a MacBook Pro, late 2013. Used MacOS on it for some time and switched back and fourth between Windows and MacOS (I even tried Linux on it). Linux was unstable as hell (primarily the wi-fi driver -- it kept randomly disconnecting me for no reason, and that was the only driver available for it), and MacOS was. just a PITA to work with. And Objective-C is utterly horrendous. Not as bad as LISP but still, its ridiculously over-complicated and confusing, and I suspect the only reason Apple even made it was to be "unique" and to not be forced to use C/C++ everywhere like everyone else was doing. To my knowledge, Objective-C does not offer anything that C++ doesn't, and only ridiculously complicates what C++ might've done. Swift is an improvement, sure, but I always get stuck when I want to write a cross-platform bit of code, want to write the Mac bits and go, "Uh... should I use C++ here or Objective-C?" And, of course, to make things worse, Apple has no C documentation for using their APIs, at least none that I could find. So don't bother working with Mac -- its a waste of money and time and as Liam said, its shameful that Apple forces you to spend $1000.00 plus just to make iOS apps if you happen to not have a Mac at the time. Really a good way to turn people off from making apps for your platform unless those people are die-hard fans or have the money to throw around.

@140, yeah... and doing that with windows would be great but managing to then combine that with ATK (or some alternative framework for Linux... does one even exist?) would be a nightmare. Not to mention the testing of all thatI've wanted -- for ages now -- to make GUIs with immediate-mode systems (because those seem to be a lot more popular than desktop-based ones) but I always run into a problem: focus events. Imgui / Dear Imgui, for instance, has no "focus" event to my knowledge, making it really, really hard for me to keep track of what the user might be focusing with tab/shift-tab, and therefore making accessibility like what people are used to really hard.

I tried over the course of about 6 months in 2013 or 2014.  Used a macbook every day, because I figured maybe it was me and I'd give it a serious chance and make sure that it wasn't just me not knowing VO.  I didn't succeed, as in even taking notes in class sucked by comparison to Windows.  Maybe you'll do better or maybe things have changed, but since my one die-hard mac friend finally got fed up and abandoned it for Windows not too long ago, my guess is it's only gotten worse.  There is a reason TDSR exists.Save yourself the time and use the SSH server, if you can.  Given that it's Godot which is already cross platform, you will probably be able to do almost everything without touching the mac.  There are undocumented ways to deploy to iOS as well, but they're undocumented and I don't have links handy; you can probably even get as far as a command line debugger, if you try hard enough.

It's not just the set speed issue, it's that we can only turn in certain increments and even with sidestepping your still missing things.I did go 80 levels with no mouse however, so it's certainly fine to do and I'd say that it gets you about 85% of the experience that having a mouse does.I did it because I had no good desk/chair at the time, my trackpad sucked, and it'd been years since I'd used a mouse well anyway.

Any way to make coding on MacOS non-painful?

Hey folks,Got an amazing donation for my Godot accessibility and game development efforts over the last week, and now I have a Mac Mini plus iDevice to try bringing Godot games to MacOS/iOS. It's been about 10 years since I've used MacOS, though, and it's a bit of a learning curve. Does anyone here find it workable for coding? If so, any tips to share?I've installed VSCode and have settings sync activated, so I already have a somewhat familiar environment. Right away, though, I notice that indentation isn't spoken, and I can't find any way to enable it. Am I right in concluding that it isn't possible? At this point, I'm beginning to think that I may just set up the integrated SSH server and use VSCode remotely from my Linux box. That will get me most of what I need, though naturally there are some tasks I can't do remotely. If it is at all possible to make things workable locally then I'd love to give it a shot, but MacOS isn't looking good as a local development target and I don't think it's just because I haven't touched it in a while. Happy to be proven wrong. Thanks for any tips.

Can't speak on prosperity at the moment, but homequest is well worth a play if you like settlements, production chains and army building, also don't forget knight commander, a sadly overlooked mobile Gem. I'm also still really looking forward to final fixes from Galactic colonies. For Pc, dragon village is well worth a play, and don't forget about castaways, and even Warsim which now has a lot of pretty good building options.Lastly, dont' forget about some fairly fantastic browser incremental games which can get quite complex with the building strategy such as Evolve, space company, civ clicker and city inc.I'm probably missing some, but those are the ones that occur to me at the moment.

Re: Prosperity - steam game fully playable

@dark, I got the game to support the developer but while it's nice blind accessibility is being worked on at the moment it's a lot of 1 percent 20 percent 50 percent kind of thing, so basicly when your workers are working you'll hear the percent go up, you can also work on your buildings and things, this also makes the percentage go up.There's also music but, and this is very important, you can't turn it down even if you get into the sound options menu. This isn't the kind of game I'd play again and again, I've already played it once and found the pressing enter to repeat the same action kind of thing to be a bit boring, also there's a lack of sounds, you get weather sounds and a tap tap tap when building, oh and a kidn of chrickly woosh when opening pages and there are different music peaces that play from time to time but I didn't feel drawn in to the world.Someone who enjoys the game could probably give you a much better review of it than I can, I played for about 20 or so minutes and found it wasn't for me.

Re: depressed from blindness again

I've had a few experiences with therapists in my lifetime which ran the gambit from absolutely horrible to meh to really great and empathetic. I saw most of those in school, though none of them were school counselors, they were actual psychologists. One thing I will say is that, in my opinion at least, it's easier to get help as a younger person with no strings attached, a fact you don't appreciate until you get older, have a job, and are put in the unenviable position of having a diagnosed mental health disorder because insurance, and then your employer will inevitably find out about it. That's the situation I'm currently in now. I honestly feel like I'd benefit from therapy at this point in my life, God knows covid and all the shit I dealt with as a result of it has really taken a toll on me, but I really, really don't want a diagnosis just because that's how insurance justifies paying, because I know that could come back to bite me later. So, if you still are relatively free of such worries, it really is best to focus on obtaining help now if that's something you want. Regarding finding someone during the pandemic, that's something I'm hesitant about, too, because when I tried Talkspace last year, I didn't like the asynchronous chat aspect of it, nor the stress of avoiding the video chat aspect of things because I doubt I could focus my phone's camera in a beneficial way. With telemedicine becoming the new norm, and the fact that actual HIPA-compliant apps/platforms weren't built with accessibility in mind, it just seems like a greater headache than it's worth. And no, just because the government relaxed restrictions on health care workers doesn't mean I want to shout my most vulnerable thoughts out to the whole world, which is precisely what I'd be doing if using something like Facetime or Zoom. I get that desperate times call for desperate measures, and people needed medical/psychological care in the safest way possible, but for me, that's too much of a risk.In any case, I hope you find something that works for you. It's also true that it's better to nip issues in the bud at a younger age because you're more flexible and open to change, so that's something to keep in mind as well.

What the hell is electric fire?Honestly, Storm Jimitron is a bust. It gains a stone, water and second earth weakness to go along with its pre-existing earth and magic weaknesses. It was frail as Jimitron, plenty of HP but not really much else going on except decent (but not great) speed and good (but not great) special attack, which it couldn't raise and had to rely upon.Flame type doesn't help it hurt magic types (it's better off still using electric moves). Flame does help it against certain matchups, so electric-flame is not a terrible attacking combination. But when you also just bring in new weaknesses, I'm just not overwhelmed from what I've seen of this guy.

Any good settlement building games?

Hi there,For some reason, I've been craving a particular type of game in a format I can easily engage with (as in an audio game or a mainstream game with good accessibility). In particular, settlement building ones. I don't know why *shrug*Mainstream wise, for example, I've played Civ VI (slowly) and have been considering City Skylines, but I'm hesitant to sit there magnifying everything up and spending ages to do anything. So I'm probably leaning more towards an audiogame unless anyone's got any good ones for low vision or that have some good accessibility.Audiogame wise, I've not played anything since Castaways and Castaways 2. Warsim kind of counts too I guess. But what other options are out there for build-em-ups?

I would go Druid first, but then again I’m slightly biased, seeing as I have a level 38 druid already.  My reasoning is that warrior can be quite difficult if you don’t know where the equipment loads, especially at the later levels. Druids have that issue too, but they also have minions to back them up, and I found that to be extremely helpful. Combine that with the fact that higher level spells don’t take so many material components, unlike necromancers, and I found my winner.

I'd be interested to know how the accessibility is following this update, and how much in the game requires poke and hope or guesswork or messing with OCR. If it's just a case of an unlabelled button or two or some unclear mesages I might well give this one a try to support the developer, but with things a bit stressful in my life at the moment I'd rather not risk access headaches at this point if possible, though undoubtedly this sounds like my sort of game.@caio, Steam is a vaguely usable, but still pestilential  piece of garbage programmed by arseholes, whom I cordially hope all get really bad cases of hairy warts in the near future . fortunately, once you've created an account (which is no more difficult than creating a google account or other service account), you don't really have to worry about using the cruddy program at all and can circummvent it quite conveniently, and whilst I don't like supporting the morons at Valve, to miss out on the good work and great games produced by developers who do choose to use Steam would be cutting off my nose to spite my face as the saying goes.Check the articles room for Pitermach's handy guide, and also remember Steam gives you access to a number of nice games, such as Slay the spire and Sequence storm, as well as this one.

Re: AirPuck - A Multiplayer Air Hockey Game

I had a conversation with somebody who has tried this game not too long ago. With all due respect, can you please get yourself some better testers? Some of what I’m hearing should have never made its way into the full release.  Infinite games, here in main chat while playing, Random puck movement, yeah no. I think I’ll go play dragon pong instead. If Connor is the same person here on the forum, I’m surprised he let these things go unhandle, I expected more from the guy.

Re: Help me, playing with a midi controler

Here's what I did, I need to fix some stuff but you can hear the two reviews I did here.https://www.youtube.com/user/khomustuLet me say BTW that this is all on Windows, if you're on a mac you'll have to figure out what works for you or get somebody else to help you. That having been said:1. Download OBS, Open Broadcast Studio. Install it, obviously.2. Follow the excellent articles on setting it up. If you want to record locally and upload, just use record instead of streaming.3. Go here and get ASIO for OBS and install it.https://github.com/Andersama/obs-asio4. Install Reaper, get it up and running. When you install, there's a part where you can select components. Open "optional functionality", and install ReaRoute. See here for more help.https://reaperaccessibility.com/index.php/Main_Page5. Run Reaper, add your keyboard tracks and microphone, or whatever else you want.6. Make the master track visible, ctrl+alt+m.7. Hit alt+applications key, and add a ReaRoute output on the master, I think it's like ReaRoute 1l 2r or such.8. Run OBS.9. Add sources, specifically an audio input capture. When you do it should take you to properties. Pick ReaRoute, then you'll have to tab to two combo boxes. They'll each say mute, I don't quite remember what you change them to, maybe ReaRoute 1l and 2r, but it's pretty easy to figure out.10. You should be good to go. If not. just close everything and try it again, I don't think it worked for me the first time but it did the second.

Re: depressed from blindness again

I do think this is much deeper than blindness stuff.
