No. When I was sighted and became blind, I was disappointed on the quality of audiogames. Maybe that's because I used to play a lot of mainstream games. All I am hoping for is more a11y to be added to mainstream games so the audiogames industry can die.

If you want a note-taker that has the world-leading translation program of Braille to help its language codes succeed, along with the functions of a braille display, and mathematical capabilities to boot, then your answer is yes. Look at all the facts, and think about what you want, and determine if you want it or not. Don’t just get it because of what I said, as I will undoubtedly have a biased opinion in support of it, but you may not, depending on what you determine as beneficial for you. Make your own decision based on what you find.

Currently wearing a pair of HyperX Revolver 1S. They're a bit bulky, but the sound quality is great, and the surround-sound is good if you need that. They have a long, braided cable, their own volume control if that's something you're into, and are ridiculously comfy.

Fair enough, I'll check the NVDA manual. Thanks. FWIW, Linux doesn't ask me to check the Orca manual for terminal shortcuts. Not a value judgment, just explains why I didn't check my screen reader's manual for how to navigate my terminal. Thanks for setting me on the right path.

Re: soundStrider, exploration game and relaxation tool

Hi guys, sorry for reviving this somewhat old thread, but I figured it'd be better to post here since this is the release thread for the game.At first I didn't think I'd really be into this game, as it sounded really... out there. Somewhat meditative, somewhat musical, somewhat exploration, all combined into 1 package, and as someone who tends to like simple action games, I couldn't see myself really getting into something as out there as this. But, I really do like audo, and as someone who loves synthesizers and sound design, I found myself intrigued enough by that to give the demo of Sound Strider a spin today.I really, really like what I'm seeing here. I'm generally not the abstract-thinking, imaginative meditative type when it comes to stuff like this, but listening to the sounds technically and musically was pretty cool, and the binaural cues made it all work. I imagine people who are more into this sort of thing would really enjoy it. Heck, I really do too, it just doesn't have as much staying power for me. I still plan on buying the full version soon, even if it's just to hear the interesting sound design this game will throw at me.I find myself a bit confused about a few things during the demo:1. what is the difference between turning and strafing? The manual seems to suggest that both are different.2. I can navigate my way between the waypoints pretty easily most times, but sometimes I am unsure where to go as the compass doesn't seem to provide any feedback (it doesn't make any sound no matter where I turn). I'm assuming this is because I just have to explore and find the waypoints myself. The manual seems to suggest that if I miss waypoints, they'll reappear ahead of me at some point, so I could, hypothetically, not worry much about going in random directions and just keep walking forward until I collect them all? Or am I getting this wrong?3. How do I go between the worlds? Are they their own entities, or are they just connected in one giant space for you to explore? If so, I guess the aim is just to explore and have fun, rather than focus on hard objective like in most games. I admit if this is the case it's something I have to get used to, but I'm open to the idea anyway. So yeah, as you can tell I'm a little unsure of my footing here. Maybe I just need to enjoy the ride rather than try to figure it out, idk. If such is the case, just let me know.In any case, really enjoying the sound of this one! Hoping to see more from this dev in the future; the realtime binaural synthesis is outright intriguing for me, and I couldn't ever really find it in my heart to truly dislike anything with this kind of thing in it.

Re: Sad to read this

Yeah, the terms are fiddly, Ethin. There's a difference between democratic socialism and social democracy. Basically, the short version is that social democracy is the much milder version, it's the status quo with a few more social programs. Capitalism still holds sway. Democratic socialism is not pure socialism, and is definitely not dictatorial by its nature, but it would engender a pretty strong shift leftward.Biden's definitely not far left of center. He's not going to turn America into a socialist dystopia where everyone is starving and paralyzed and ultimately hamstrung at every turn by an all-powerful, greedy, corrupt government. If that's the picture that's been painted for you, look elsewhere, because that's not fact. Interestingly, a lot of the social ills running rampant in America right now, under Trump, are being blamed on Biden (i.e., Trump will fix them if re-elected, Biden won't). Funny; as sitting president, isn't he kind of supposed to be fixing them already instead of playing these silly games?

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

If you jacked its HP too high, then it would be too tanky and probably Aaron would freak out about that. So I'm okay with it having health that's a little bit below average. And it doesn't need insanely high attack to work. Give it, like, mid-tier attack, top-tier defenses, above-average-tier speed and low-mid-tier HP. Boom. After all, it's a pure ice type; ice is a very underwhelming defensive type in the first place.

What works, what doesn't, and why.I have had an idea for a JRPG-style game for literally years now, but I can't code and I don't know anywhere near enough about sound design. Story I can do. Balance I can do. Monsters, NPCs, all that jazz, I can do; if I had a coder who was able to essentially get an engine running, I could probably take that and seriously run with it. Actually, it reminds me of how some muds are advertised as having tens of thousands of rooms, most of which won't be used for anything other than to walk through on the way to somewhere. Meh. I was hoping Rescumo would get to use all that defense it gets, but it sounds like it's attack stats and health are shitty enough that it neutralizes it. Bleh.

Re: The Synthizer Thread

I skimmed your code.  I think the issue is that Rust strings aren't null terminated, and you're passing them to Synthizer by converting them to pointers.  You can't take a Rust String, grab a pointer from it, and pass that to C, you have to go via CString. While you have a valid point about ergonomics and a lot of credibility with me w.r.t. you knowing what you're doing, you're nonetheless saying "can you change the library because I can't figure out how to get Rust to work here" when dealing with void* is something that literally any sizable C library requires you to do to bind it.  "We need logging on by default because NULL void*" is not actually a problem in the slightest for any other language I know of, and it being a problem with Rust is quite incompatible with Rust saying that you can talk to C stuff easily with it, so if I'm going to entertain changing library internals and flip things that are slow on by default just so Rust can deal with it, I need more convincing that this is actually a problem with Rust.It might be worth starting on the Rust Discord before trying to convince me that I need to make changes.  I haven't done C bindings in Rust, maybe it *is* actually this hard.  But I suspect it's not.

Peculiarities in A Hero's Call

2020-09-11 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Jayde via Audiogames-reflector

Peculiarities in A Hero's Call

Hi, folks,I busted this game out again over the last few days and had some great fun with it. Managed to beat the game on easy at level 20-21.In doing so, I discovered some peculiar things that strike me as...well, if they aren't bugs or wacky design choices, then I don't know.1. Gwen's all over the placeShe'll learn elemental arrow and elemental sword moves if you teach them to her in their most basic forms (ranged attack, melee attack), but Elemental Attunement doesn't seem to actually lock or unlock anything. For example, I chose fire, and the only actual fire spell I got, apart from said sword/arrow attacks, was Fire Bolt and Blazing Weapon. I maxed Fire Bolt, thinking that would lead me to more fire spells. Instead, I actually began learning things like Chain Lightning, Whiteout and the like. My strongest attack right now is actually Chain Lightning.2. Simeon and Matthias have an awfully wide shared movepoolYou can put a bow on Simeon and give him things like Assassin Arrow and Precise Shot if you teach him ranged attacks. Matthias also gets Stealth, which I never noticed before.3. Speaking of buffs, a lot of them don't seem necessaryBear in mind, I played on easy, and I don't think I've played on hard yet. So far it actually looks like you can bulrush most stuff without buffs. Do bosses, at least, on hard mode actually do clever burff-related things?4. It's too easy to get goldSeriously, I have good gear, bought all the fence's stuff off of him, and I still have nearly 22k and virtually nothing to spend it on. That said, I feel like a lot of the random gems should actually be usable for other stuff, or sold for more. Yes, yes, I'm aware that this game is not in active development anymore, so I'm not howling loudly. What it does, it mostly does well. All that having been said, if anyone has further info about moves, learn conditions, hard mode, or just wants to share amazing or weird or peculiar stuff, have on.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Blaizond is quite good in manamon 1, less good in manamon 2 where other flame types exist with better coverage beyond standard and flame. Still, Blaizond is decent.Elvond gets Inner Healing and is fairly tanky. Also gets Magic Wave eventually, but I'd rather get Energy Pulse, personally.Frostond isn't bad.Duskond is still busted since it's a one-trick pony.Rescumo is just blech. Aaron tried so, so, so hard to make this thing good, and ignored the one thing that would've done it in favour of all the other things that didn't. Notably, Rescumo is fairly fast on its own, and has an ability which I believe doubles its speed in snow. Rescumo also has awful HP but great defenses, so what does Aaron do? Gives it an exclusive item which, uh, boosts its defenses even further or something. The one thing Rescumo really needed was attack. I mean, I guess Swift Slam isn't god-awful, but it's non-STAB, has an accuracy penalty because reasons, and unlike Bulderdash, I'm pretty sure Rescumo can't get Rev Up, meaning Swift Slam won't keep powering up. Just...all the wrong ideas. Also also? We already had an ice dog/wolf/canine thing. Why did we need another one? Truth to tell, we actually have three now, since Frostond is an ice-fox. Unoriginality is showing.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

So I get that Rescumo is really defensive with gross attacking stats and gross hp. Is this thing usable? At all? Even a little bit? Should I even bother? I went to the trouble of breeding a Helpup along with all the Mutmo transformations, but from what I can tell, people don't seem to be too high on any of those either except for maybe Blaizond and Elvond. I didn't bother carrying them all the way to level 49 so that they get slash and all that, so they're going to be one-trick ponies, all of which get some combination of growl, and evil eyes, and cute eyes, and sandy wind, and either smoke shield or obscure. Honestly, zz. Elvond looks like it's going to be relying on tribeam for a long while. That alone makes me not want to use it. Blaizond gets all special flame moves until it gets blaze rampage at level 49. That seems gross to me. And I've never really seen Rythmond or Irond. Frostond is an easy kill.

I got 2 new subscribers a couple of days ago and didn't even know about it until someone else pointed it out because, guess what, no notification. I use do not disturb on my phone so nothing personal comes in, but if Bob the Nut decides to subscribe to me in the middle something, it at least deserves a mention. I don't know, I just don't want anyone ttoo feel invisible. I spent the majority of my life feeling invisible, so if mentioning someone's name makes that person feel a little better, than my job is done.

Re: uncopyrighted sound effects?

if you're not doing something big and you're not  blatantly using it I wouldn't worry about this unless you went out and got something super iconic.  A notification sound in the background being copyrighted won't give you significantly worse chances than if it weren't: at  that point the false positives of the algorithm are as likely to hit you as it somehow noticing that you used something copyrighted by accident, and either way there's nothing you can do about it.But that said, looking at your subscribers after the video for the sake of not having "I got a subscriber" notifications showing up for your viewers is really, really easy.  Obviously it's your project, do whatever you want, but this entire problem can be solved by turning it off and checking it later (and also, if it's popular enough, you now have to fiddle with turning it off *during* the video, which is even worse).  But "I need to know that I got a subscriber while I'm filming, therefore let's get non-copyright non-default sounds because I don't want to just check a number in the dashboard later and all my viewers are always going to hear it too" is...I don't know, but I wouldn't call it fun, not unless this is the kind of thing where acknowledging new subscribers is part of it.

Re: The Synthizer Thread

I'll see what I can do, but I'm certainly not a Rust n00b and I'm having a bit of trouble passing a null value into this function. I agree with you that it *should* be easy, but it isn't obvious to me how to do it after 20-30 minutes of researching this one issue. Rust goes out of its way to make the billion dollar mistake hard to make, so I'm not entirely surprised it isn't easy or obvious. I hear what you're saying re: speed, but I wonder if it might be worth optimizing for developer ergonomics at this stage? Those of us creating Rust/whatever bindings need as much help as we can diagnosing issues in our code, and that may take the part of having a default logger configured without us having to architect the plumbing to set that up. Look at it this way--we're screwing up so others don't have to. Help us recover from our screw-ups more effectively, even if it means a temporarily slower library, or a library that we temporarily slow down on our own by setting a high logging level. Setting a lower log level should probably be either a no-op or use very few resources, so it doesn't seem like it should slow things down unless we explicitly opt in to those slow-downs.I'll see about ensuring that I build the linked Synthizer in debug mode. Should be simple enough. If this isn't ready for me to move further on, that's fine too. It was just something I started on a lark, so if I need to wait a bit longer or push this forward more in a month or so, that's OK too. Thanks for your help so far.

Biden is really not very far left of center, and I don't expect sweeping changes under his leadership. There is incontrovertible evidence that Donald Trump is in favour of all of these things, based on what he has done while in office; if you decide to cast your vote to support him, then you are hoping and planning for more of the same. And if you are one of these people who wants to continue this legacy for America, then I don't reject you based on your politics. I reject you based on your morals. You don't like it? Cry me a fucking river, because I don't care. If the mask fits, bloody well wear it. You don't get to pick and choose here. You know that Trump considers himself beyond the law and above reproach. You know that if re-elected, he will continue doing what he's already done. Don't kid yourself into thinking that maybe some of the worst aspects of his presidency - if indeed you can even bear to criticize it in the first place - are now behind him, and that he'll clean up his act. He won't. No one can make him do so except by removing him from his position of power. He's already proven this in spades. You gave him four years, and he has nearly destroyed your country. If after all of this you still support him, then your morality has taken a vacation somewhere, and I have no respect for you on these points. You've lost that proverbial seat at the table by deciding that those fifteen things, and more, matter more to you, to your friends and family, and to your country than does the welfare, safety and livelihood of hundreds of millions of people. You want to characterize it as folks flipping out over politics? Cram it. It's folks flipping out because it turns out that a whole pile of Americans actually think those fifteen broad standards are admirable, and just what the doctor ordered. If that's the way you feel, then as far as I'm concerned, I'm no longer obligated to treat you as if your opinion on these subjects actually matters anymore, because it doesn't. Yup, yall want more mainstream playable games, here is a very playable one. The 8-bit sound, and the blend of 8-bit and guitar in the music is a stylistic choice by the developers, because Scott Pilgrim is originally a comic series that revolves around classic videogame culture. Not suture its still there, but netflix has the movie that came out alongside the game, and its also audio described.

He won't. No one can make him do so except by removing him from his position of power. You gave him four years, and he has nearly destroyed your country. If after all of this you still support him, then your morality has taken a vacation somewhere, and I have no respect for you whatsoever until such time that you once again find yourself capable of thinking past the man in orange.

KNFB is like alphabet soup. Seriously, even when it says that all the edges are visible and it snaps automatically, it just does letter and symbol gibberish. Voice Dream Scanner only does that if the lighting is very poor or you are moving the phone as you snap or don't try to get a good tone.

I'd like to point out that streaming music on an internet radio station when you don't have a license to stream that music is illegal. @1, I would seriously stop with this. This is extremely fishy; your saying that we can get a radio station for just ten bucks without having to even pay for licenses, both state-based broadcast licenses and (I suspect) music broadcast licenses. That's impossible. If your trying to get yourself imprisoned for at least a minimum of 5 years, keep going. And selling something that's free? Re: The Synthizer Thread

You should be able to just 0 as whatever_the_type_is, maybe with an unsafe block around the call, and call it a day.  In general bindings are supposed to offer higher level interfaces than that function, so you shouldn't need to bind it safely (i.e. for the consumer of your binding, one function per type is what I'd expect).  I'm not sure why the nomicon is necessary for a very basic C binding thing that literally everyone has to do, but maybe there's a subtlety I don't know about.I'm opposed to turning it on by default because it's currently a very slow hack that does blocking things in the audio thread, one that I can't fix quickly because reasons. But this is beside the point if you can reproduce the problem in C because if you can reproduce the problem in C I won't have to download and set up your bindings, figure out how to do whatever has to happen to get it to build Synthizer in debug mode, figure out how to do whatever has to happen to get it to use a checked out version  instead of the one you vendor, and then fight to get VSCode and/or another debugger to play nice on top of that so that I can see exactly where/how it crashes.

Hello,@7: what's wrong with dual boot?I have my disk split to 5 partitions, 4 for operating systems and one for common data. Not all four are installed yet, I have currently Windows and Ubuntu mate, with the latter being the primary system. It works really nice, I can switch between the two systems at any time by pressing F12 and entering the boot menu.@8: There is OCRDesktop for Linux, which does the same as NVDA OCR. In fact, it is even more flexible, as you can configure various color filters for capturing the screen to optain the best possible results for given window. The engine behind it is Tesseract, although I'm not sure, whether the program uses the latest version with neural networks, or the olderone.Someone was also adding object navigation to Orca master recently, although I'm not sure, how far did the idea get.As for Orca internal structure documentation, yes, this is really quite horrible. There are some comments in source code, but there should rather be a centralized resource, which would point out the important informations directly, and one would just search for details in the code. This doesn't apply just for Orca, but also for linux accessibility stuff in general. How can we expect people to work on making things more accessible on Linux, when there is weak documentation even for what was already done?Teamwork is critical for open-source software, it is the only way to make things live even after the original author stops developing them. But any kind of teamwork requires communication in first place, and I don't see this happening here.I personally hate writing documentation, but currently, I feel like this is more important than adding any feature to Orca. I'm already looking into it, I'll see, whether I can actually do something about it.@9: if you decide to go with virtual machines, it's your decision, I just want to note, that for example on my laptop, the responsiveness in VM vs. the real thing was few times faster (in case of native install of course).I'm not trying to convince you, just to prevent considering what you'll get from VM to be the real Linux performance.Best regardsRastislav

Re: Sad to read this

@Simba, my lady had lots of good things to say about the German medical system, and that after growing up in the states.Okay, as to the "how life is in other countries" comment. When I was in America, I stayed with my sister in law and her husband. My brother in law is a contractor, though nominally a builder and carpinter he does pretty much everything involved in the building trade from laying concrete, to brick laying, to roofing and putting down water pipes for new houses. He also does carpentry as an artistic interest. If you want an example of one of those "hard working Americans", mentioned earlier in this thread, you couldn't get a better one than my brother in law.Unfortunately, he is not a young man. When I was there he was experiencing severe and extreme joint pain and fatigue. So, here is a man who works with his hands, whose livelihood, and a good part of whose identity and interest revolve around working with his hands. yet I was absolutely appauled when my brother in law refused to even get his hands checked, since their medical insurance would not cover a basic checkup, and even to get a medical professional to look at his hands would cost $130. Furthermore, even if some sort of joint medication or pain relief were prescribed, whether the insurance would actually pay for that specific prescription was questionable. Here is a man who works with his hands, whose livelihood, whose very identity depends upon those hands, and yet when those very hands are under threat of injury or illness, the paramount question is not "what can be done to help," but "what can our medical insurance and our very limited budget allow to be done", which has unfortunately left it down to my poor brother in law pretty much having to just suffer and hope the pain doesn't grow any worse.Contrast this to myself. I am not like my brother in law, I do not work with my hands, I do not make art with my hands (unless one counts the typing necessary to write poetry and stories). Two weeks ago, I fell over and injured my left hand. My left hand is still aching (it's still aching as I type this), and simply by virtue of the fact that it is still causing pain two weeks after the injury, my lady suggested I call NHS direct.Just before beginning this post, I finished talking to a very nice clinition, who spent a fair while chatting to me, asking about symptoms, and trying to suggest pain relief, indeed but for Covid 19, she was strongly in favour of me going to hospital for an X ray, though as it is, the decision is that I will phone my local GP on Monday if things don't improve and try a phone consultation with them (NHS direct are just a short port of call for none critical injuries). I will spare everyone the long and tortuous account of my wife's cancer treatment over the past  eighteen months, or how this differs from the rather appalling stories of my father in law's treatment in the states (who may or may not have cancer, since he's been shuttled around so many different doctors with no consultation between them and no over all coherence in treatment, that nobody seems sure), and let's not even get on to the standard of palliative care he's currently not receiving.of course, I am English, actually am! a socialist (albeit a highly libertarian one), and child of a health service family, since both of my parents are medical, so I admit I am pretty biased here myself. I will also freely admit that yes, i do have the rather strange notion that the duty of the medical profession is the treatment of the sick, not the enrichment of already insanely wealthy insurance companies.Interestingly enough, my lady and I are reading a book at the moment entitled dear NHS< is a set of testamonials produced during lockdown, in support of the Nhs. contrinbutors include actors, comedians, poets, musicians and news readers, and many of the stories in it are harrowing, such as poor Amilia Clark's battle with really appauling childhood illness and the care she recieved, or David Tenant's account of how seemingly irritating runs of standard post natal checkups for his wife and infant son saved that infant son's life.In particular, I rather enjoyed Stephen Fry's question (which he made to a right wing American radio host), of why certain people in America are so against the idea of a state funded health system, and so in favour of the idea of a state funded military. There was also Sally Hues gorgious retelling of her own son's treatment, which also included a the numbers of Americans who regularly die due to lack of ability to pay for health care, and the observation that the average Britain pays three times less in tax generally, for health care than the average American spends on medical insurance each year. Indeed, to anyone who actually is interested in how the dreaded "socialised medicine" actually works in Britain, I'd suggest taking a look at it.

if you can use powershell, page up and page down work.In WSL use Tmux and it's ctrl+b [, followed by all the normal scrolling keys.I thought the Windows Terminal had accessibility support and that NVDA had specifically put work into it, but maybe I'm wrong or that's still not on stable or something. In normal old cmd your pager is more as in command | more.

Re: The Synthizer Thread

I am using bindgen, yes. The issue is that it generates code that specifically references c_void, and I don't think you're supposed to construct those at all from Rust. I think there's some dark magic that makes Option appear nullable over FFI under certain circumstances, but that involves figuring out a T and poking the generated bindings programatically. It's probably doable, and I'll put it next on the list. But in the absence of other logging backends, I thought I'd suggest making stderr the default until everything gets a bit more stable. TBH, I'd rather focus on getting something playing than mucking around in things that require me to pour through the nomicon, literally.

Why, the ridiculously wealthy people, of course. People who have like billions of dollars (who can't possibly use all that money) are instead required to put some of that money into healthcare, college, etc., instead of hording it all to themselves. KNFB Reader and VoiceDream Scanner do offline scanning. I have to agree that KNFB is a piece of shit. I'm glad I snagged it for free when they briefly tried offering a demo on iOS back in 2015. I wouldn't pay more than maybe $10 or $20 for that app. The only thing it does reasonably well is OCR PDF documents, but VoiceDream Reader can do that as well. KNFB Reader makes me think even less of the NFB. Why do they let such a flawed product go through quality control?

I'll certainly try some of these tips out. I should also mention Internet connectivity is poor in the lobby area (terrific), which makes this an even more grueling task. That's why I included the offline stipulation. I also need to check upwards of 10 or so packages since everybody in the building receives packages that way. It's more of a headache than it should be, but that's the price of a low rent apartment in a heavily college student residential area.

MyDearWatson,I totally understand why you posted this, and do appreciate having had the chance to read about it. Unfortunately, in today's climate, there is almost nothing you can mention any longer that won't soon turn into a political war. I know that starting one was certainly not what you had intended, but unfortunately there it is. I used to love talking about politics back in the days when disagreeing with someone wasn't considered racism, bigotry, or a hate crime. Now, if you disagree with a certain view you might find yourself banned from certain social media platforms or forums, you could be branded as a racist or something else along those lines, or you could, quite literally, lose friends and family over it. Almost everything nowadays is politicized and that's got to stop, now. Again, thanks for your original post with the article.

Scrolling in the Windows terminal, or what should I use?

Scrolling in the Windows terminal, or what should I use?

OK, this is driving me insane. Is there some way to scroll in the default command prompt without:[1. Opening the application menu.2. Selecting Edit.3. Selecting Scroll.4. Paging around, then discovering that NVDA won't let you review your screen.Under Linux, this was literally Ctrl-PGUP,Ctrl-PGDN and Orca read things just fine. I've been redirecting long command output to a log and opening that, but that's getting painful. Clearly I have to be missing something, but I don't know what.Edit: Oh, and is there something better than the terminal that pops up when running a text command? I don't mean a different shell--I have WSL2 and Nu installed--but something that doesn't make me do all of this? I installed the new terminal from the Microsoft store, but unless I'm missing something, that isn't very accessible.Thanks.

Yeah, Seeing AI does it, but if offline is required you're probably mostly out of luck.  And Seeing AI won't *always* do it.It's kinda sucky but you can generally order really sensitive stuff in discrete packaging, especially medical and anything decidedly not PG-13, so they won't know what's in it unless they flat out open it.  Amazon is also pretty good (though not perfect) about packaging in unidentifiable packaging if you check the thing at checkout. Most major shippers will also send text updates to your phone if you have the tracking number and do a little bit of fiddling online to set it up, so in many cases you can know if it's arrived or not and you'll get a notification with an hour of it showing up.

I am currently in the middle of training to get into the IT industry, and the school i am going through provided the students with Windows Ten Lenovo Laptops. I have been using NVDA and, while I can't say anything as far as touchscreen functionality is concerned because my machine doesn't have that feature, I can say that I have absolutely no problems when it comes to using the mouse or the touch pad. There are quite a few more gestures that work with the touch pad now, many of which I've not yet tried, but I've used some of them and it has been quite a good experience. I haven't messed with narrator as much as I'd like, but am looking to do so in the near future. I can agree with others here who would say that Narrator has come a long way from what it once was.

Just pass NULL there, yes.  I don't know how to cast Rust pointers to and from void, though it's a pretty typical c idiom to allow for that kind of thing when the type that's expected depends on other parameters or when working with callbacks, so it's certainly doable. If you can duplicate the bug in C, that will be helpful.I assume you've already found bindgen and similar projects.  If not you might look into that: there's a few quite mature "give me the Rust equivalent of this C header" options around.
