I can't really give you any iuseful advice, since I don't know your programming level, but I think python is good enough for whatever audiogame you want to do with it. However, if you want a compiled language and not an interpreted one, check out c# and the .net ecosystem. Yeah, it's definitely not a scripting language in any sense of the word, it's not that good for audiogames as I don't think anyone made audiogame specific libs for it. Though, for basic game support, you could try monogame. Monogame is an opensource game engine written with a specific goal in mind, to replace the proprietary and now dead and forgotten xna framework developed by microsoft. As such, it has things present from the xna era, like the content pipeline in stead of what most people call a game archive. So...you know...a weird version of the sounds.dat things you find in other games, but you'll get used to it once you've seen enough tutorials about it. Granted, monogame itself is kind of old already, unless they're still working on it, which I don't really think they do. But yeah, unity used that as its backbone, because from there on, it's kind of just automation and physics engines and stuff. And, before I forget, monogame doesn't offer you many things while being pretty verbose. However, you could compensate for that by either making some wrappers and stuff once you learn it, or get a sighted friend to colaborate with you in using unity. Another advantage to monogame is, it might be verbose and very bare bones, but with the help of xamarin, it can be cross-platform. Again, unity makes use of some of that.

Ah yes, the Charvakas. I think we covered them a bit in a Buddhist philosophy class, of all places, probably because they competed with abhidharma, or it debated with them. Or possibly Nagarjuna covered them as a position he was debating against, but I don't think so. For some reason it's really connected to Abhidharma in my mind. But honestly I could never keep all of the early Buddhist philosophical schools straight, I think mostly because their obscure debates about what constitutes a person or whether or not there was actually such a thing as a person, which BTW was somehow a different thing from "the self", made my face hurt.

I thought of radiation just then and how it can harm you even though it can't always be perceived by the senses. Same goes for viruses, bacteria, etc. I'm not sure if that's taking it too far, but it's still scary.

@4If you mean so you could build with them, then I've no idea. I've not thought of it.If you mean after the fact, then honestly, you could code the whole world in Python. Everything you need is in the earwax.story.world module. You can import everything from that world with from earwax.story import StoryWorld, RoomObject, You could always subclass earwax.story.RoomObject, to make it do cool stuff, or just add tasks to your game object.I could work it so you can select an object type from a list of classes which could be added to a list somehwere. Then if there's only one entry in that list, the system would automatically choose the first one. That way you could just create subclasses, and add them to the list.@5I appreciate how annoying crashing can be. That said, if everyone took this approach, the bugs will never get ironed out, and you'd have a chicken and egg problem.As it stands, the only time I personally get full on crashing, is if I try to add reverbs, which I already warned about. Other than that, it should be fairly robust. Even silly things like removing the hard drive with your sounds on it then loading the game should show an error list, rather than make it have a melt down. Just remember to control s your work.

I was more thinking of the whole thing about whomever not knowing what this dream blind people have about playing Minecraft is all about, since it will never happen.I barely know anything about Minecraft, like it's lucky I know it exists. I know it's super popular and one of my nephews plays it. So I initially thought about that, hey if it works it might be cool to show him how I play it. Then I saw this dude's video and I was like, oh yeah they're doing some accessibility stuff, and I vaguely remember seeing somebody raving about a mod a while back. So I wondered what that was all about and what kind of progress was being made.It's entirely possible that Minecraft would bore me to tears. But if it actually gets playable, I'd probably support it. A lot of the more mainstream games seem to be what I'd call partially playable, e.g. a lot of the fighting games people seem to love, or only available on consoles, or even a single console, e.g. "The Last of us II". While I'd love supporting something like that, I'm not buying a game console for a single accessible game, you know?But damn, all y'all act like I'm up nights wringing my hands complete with weeping and gnashing of teeth because this one damn game isn't accessible to me. I'm like, just kind of curious you know? It's like if somebody told me there was an attempt to crossbreed apes and locusts. That would be ridiculous, but I gotta admit, I'd want to check in on that shit every once in a while to see what the hell's up with it, you know what I'm sayin'? Because I mean, I'm not saying I'm in a deep depression over the lack of pet chitinous flying monkeys or anything ... but I'm saying if that ever becomes a possibility, well ... you gotta at least consider it, I think.

So I've been frustrated with this for weeks now. I've tried lots of things, did research, still no answer. So hopefully someone here can help me with this issue.My discord bot can play audio from my local drive perfectly fine. It can choose a random file in a directory, and play it. Great. However, when I try to play audio from keybase, it's a whole other story.It will choose the file, and process the audio request. It will break as soon as it is suppose to play the audio, saying file or directory does not exist. But it does indeed exist because I through the path to a function to choose a random file from, so of course it works because it didn't give me a path error at that point. To fix this, I tried many things. I tried changing the backslashes to slashes. I tried importing pathlib and using the path function to convert it. Still nothing works. It is possible to play audio from this drive, because if I type out the path manually using r"k:\team\(etc)", it will accept that.So what is the issue here?

Personally I love rotu, and I actually think you did well on it. however, if that's something you don't want to really work on i'm sure most of the player base would understand. Want to make a knew game? go for it, don't rush release it, and beta test it  properly. we don't want the lag from rotu's early, yes, early, (21 days a go) coming back.

IF you aren't running a Mac or some version of Linux, the start.sh script won't be very helpful for you. If you are, you can just run it in a terminal window, in theory.I hope the author has translated the scripts to Python3, because if they haven't, mac support is going to be more annoying going forward, at least.

I genuinely don't understand why this thread is so negative. There is a lot of potential to make Minecraft more playable, it's got a robust modding API, there's support for getting game information six ways from Sunday and people are trying to make it work. The constant cries of "It'll never work," don't help anything.

Well, I mean to say from my understanding, 3 of your games, IE all of them are down, and have been for like about 3 days at this point, and for the past 3 weeks its been the same pattern with all games. Jokes aside though, I wouldn't recommend a total shutdown of your online games. I would suggest several things.1. Axe all the uninportant games and focus on the one you want to. Either your most passionate project, possibly Golden Crayon, side note, its a bad name for that type of game imo, or you can develop the most popular, ROTU. Focus on that one and that on alone and make them the best it can be. 2. Axe everything all together, come back when you've become more skilled in python or whatever, and come out with a unique, balanced game that brings something to the table. Being blunt, ROTU and BS aren't really tide turning, and in the case of BS was possibly a step back from even the days of Mohamed's SBP. 3. I'd suggest you do this one all the time, but if possible, and if you want, keep the important ones as they are now, and create a beta group where you host either on your friend's VPS"s, or local host if you must. Get beta testers to test your fixes and patches, and in fact try not to get your friends. Get random people to do it, and if possible a secret suggestion system where suggestions are sent in secretly, so as to not cause any rifts between you and your friends if they are chosen randomly. All in all I think your online games need a break however,

Smart stuff is great until your internet is down. Smart appliances that I have seen usually, not always, but usually have touch screens, so no internet, no accessibility. I'd rather deal with knobs, buttons, and the like and not have access via the internet.Just something to think about.

Note: I'm posting this to applebis as well. I'm trying to figure out the basic usage of Garageband for iOS, mainly focusing on recording use cases. Anyone here dealt with Del's Max Audio Pro?

Just got a new del computer, the xps 8940 I posted a while ago. Trying to set up my 5.1 surround sound system through the analogue jacks at the back, but Del is using something called Max Audio Pro to enhance audio and is messing with the process. It's trying to matrix all 5 channels because of course, we all want fake 3d audio... and there seems to be no way to disable it so I can just get pure, simple analogue surround. The only solution I found was to switch to the microsoft high def device driver, but the problem with that is then the headphones don't capture NVDA as it comes through the center channel. Have asked all over the place including the windows 10 blind users list and noone has been able to come up with anything. Has there really been noone else that's had to deal with this? The PC is great for everything other than that. Any thoughts? Thanks! Google hasn't been particularly helpful either. Can't believe how anoying this is.. this is the first time I have experienced a computer that litterally forces you to use their audio enhancements by default. Gross.

Sure, but at the same time, I use the internet and they use the tv and sometimes the phoneline so it's useful.Yeah; I know about not living in London, the accessibility hear is great, talking busses trains, a fredom pass so you don't have to pay, uber, things like that, but moving out of london would be a good idea.I can't at the moment, there's this virus thing going around, ya no? Hi.I'm wondering if it's worth buying a controler? I'm playing watchmen: the end is ny as I read it was playable and while it's fun walking around and hearing the taunts, I have no idea how to fight using a pc, there's no punch sounds for the main character and i can't find a pc walkthrough online with buttons for this this and this.SO I thought perhaps buying a controler when I can might help out a lot, what do you guys think?Oh by the way; I'm going to get slay the spire again, that game is awesome!

Won't you be fine if you configure an NVDA Remote connection over port 6837 with a very strong randomly generated password? Isn't the connection encrypted just like RDP?I have to agree with Vultr. I have no use for a Windows Server, but if you're going to pay for one, they're not cheap. You're paying for Microsoft's ridiculous licensing fees and the nice Windows GUI which is meh IMHO. Also be aware you'll have to get sighted assistance to enable the audio service, as it's not enabled on new installations by default.

I might check it out once other people have had a run through. One thing that bugs me is when I'm endeavoring in a creative process and things keep interrupting me. So like, if this thing is just getting started, it might be crashy and stuff, so I'll just wait a while and hopefully the stability will improve enough so that if it does crash, it's not often.I'm so glad Reaper doesn't crash all that often. Currently writing my master thesis in computer science and working as a programmer for seven years now in parallel to achieving bachelor and master degree. His youtube channel is [here], and he seems to go a little into it [here], but yes he does appear to have some vision.Concurrently there are mods for enhancing audio, such as the [Sound Filters] and [Sound Physics] mods, along with more recent ones such as [Footstep Presence], [Dynamic Surroundings], and [Custom Interaction Sounds] mods.The presence footsteps mod actually seems pretty amazing, I don't think the guy who made it really realizes it. You can listen to it in action [here], it seems to cover all kinds of surfaces including playing surface sounds for each individual foot, so left foot can be grass and right can be stone depending on where your standing, etc. Then there's my own [Audiocraft] prototype for filtered sonified depthmap navigation. Its not that the elements aren't there necessarily to get something playable, so much as the time/effort to bring them together and writing the Java code.

Change the keyboard config to use the arrows. It's not the best method, but it still works, I used to do it.My recommendation is to invest in a mouse though. You can get one for under 30 bucks at nearby stores.

I'm going all in on all that smart home thing and am always looking for ways to smarten things up even more. Right now, i've got an openHAB running on a Raspberry Pi 4 here, which is basically the center of my Smart Home. Siri and Alexa both are used as voice assistants communicating through openHAB to all my different devices set in their own ecosystems. My smart thermostats for example are Tado ones, i've got a smart weather station from Netatmo as well as Philips Hue for smart lighting. I've got a ZWave network connected to my Raspi as well to control Window/Door sensors and smart plugs, and some shelly-based self-made roller shutters too. I've got location tracking through my iPhone set up, so that I can reliably detect if i'm at home or not to do some actions like close the shutter when i'm not at home. Oh, and the latest addition to my smart home is a vacuum cleaner which works just fine in that setup as well. So yeah, if you've got any question, guess you can come back at me.

I think what OP is asking about is what devices you have interfaced with your hub. These would be things like lights, door locks, air conditioning units, etc. These would be controlled by either an app, or Alexa / google home.Many people have the echo or the google home, or the home pod, but who out of those is using it as a way to run their home?

A controller has triggers instead of buttons, so you can alter how much you press the throttle. This becomes most important when you turn off traction control and stability assist.As I said, if you just sit and don't stear at least like once or twice, you won't get money or experience. That's how the game works. The game does allow you to take at least little control even when stearing is set to super easy.

Let's see, I have two homepod minis and a google home max. The goolge home max comes off as more smarter in away. The google home max makes a really good bluetooth speaker and seems to work better when I am asking for info such as the weather. The homepod minis is really your only option if you want airplay. I can tell you that setup of both was easy enough. The homepods make a good intercom if you were into that kind of thing. For example, you could use the homepods to spook an older person who may not be used to said tech. You just setit up in their house, maybe teach how to get some music or something. @5 I have an AMD processor too, but I can't say I've seen said processes appearing.With that said it could well be a conflicting program/processor issue, but I highly doubt it.
