Aardwolf getting started?

Aardwolf getting started?

So I literally started playing this game for the first time today and have a few questions.Firstly, what's the best client to use? I've just been using the official aard mushclient with screen reader support, but unless I'm looking in the wrong places I can't seem to find any documentation on it's shortcuts or anything etc.I'm a bit confused as to how the stat system works. I get the fundamentals behind it (each class has it's primary stats, some skills use a combination of stats), etc. How am I best to train them though? I'm a vamp/barbarian, so my cheapest stat is str but I know I do also need to worry about con and to a lesser extent, dex.I guess this kinda ties into the first question, is there a definitive soundpack or anything for the game? I'm not one that has to have sounds for my muds, though I imagine in this mud there's times where they'd be useful. Again, it looks like the aard client has some of this too

Re: Any gladiator games out there?

@Graeme, Hell yeah, I'd definitely be up for a game like that. Actually, it sounds pretty awesome, tactical combat with atmosphere definitely has it's fans, look at slay the spire, even when playing with the say the spire addon and not getting the flavour text.Don't get me wrong, action games are good too, but there is definitely room for both, and as this topic shows, we're hardly inundated with gladiator style games in the audiogames community. You could even consider setting it in a fantasy realm rather like the gladiatorial combats in Raymond Feist's riftwar saga, thereby letting you take advantage of magic and/or fantasy creatures for opponents.

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

@24, those aren't the only problems. Assuming that time is accelerated and dilated like that, everything in this theoretical universe would live a shorter duration, I believe. If your dividing the number of weeks in an earth year in half, that means that the earth spins twice as fast. That would indicate that either (1) the earth is rotating around a different star with a stronger gravitational field, or (2) the earth is closer to the sun. Which would make one wonder, then, just how life exists in this fictional universe at all.But assuming that you've accelerated time universally in this theoretical universe, that would mean that everything in the universe would have a lifespan that's half as long as it is in reality. Which would cause all sorts of weird problems.

Re: Is paying for LeetCode worth it?

So here's the thing.  Practice coding sites are good for the newest of new programmers.  Once you're writing programs that are over say 1000 lines, or really even just a couple hundred, none of the practice sites are going to give you anything much.  Even things like Advent of Code stop being really beneficial in any way unless you're just looking for brainteasers.  Fun?  Maybe, if you're the right sort of person.  But going to teach you to actually build larger software projects?  Not really.  This is especially true if it's the sort of site where they check your answer, since being able to check your answer really just means practicing algorithms, and algorithms are only like 20% of programming at most. There are lots of universities and such that put their lectures up on Youtube, free software engineering textbooks, and so on.  I don't know what's recent.  But the coding practice problems site crowd is either people just getting started, a weird sort of competitive zealot personality type that's hard to describe, or people who think they're way better than they actually are.  Yes, there's a minority of people who just do it for fun, and I don't disdain them for doing it.  But be incredibly skeptical of this trend that those sorts of things teach much worth knowing.

Re: Any gladiator games out there?

I actually planned out a gladiator game that I was going to make last year. Combat would be turn based where you have limited stamina each round and must plan your attack sequences. I planned for audio description of how each round played out and to include a few basic sound effects, so there would be more than just something basic and boring like 'you hit your enemy for 10 damage, your enemy hits you for 5'. The combat system I had in mind is fairly deep with systems for multiple hits (combos), critical hits, stamina recovery and counter attacks. You get to choose a character size at the start of the game from 4 different body types that have various advantages and disadvantages, e.g. small and quick but lower damage and hit points or large and powerful but slower. I planned for about 9 different weapon types, each with 3 different grades of quality. Several armour types with some favouring more protection than others depending on the type of damage received (blunt/slashing or piercing).Several shield types with bonuses for defence and counter attacking. The general idea of the game was pretty standard - you're a slave who must fight to earn your freedom in a loosely Roman type scenario. You start out with limited cash and must win fights to earn more cash to upgrade your weapons and armour. Weapons and armour degrade with use so you would need to choose whether to repair or replace them. The entire game was going to be self voicing, menus, stats, everything. No text or graphics, no need for screen readers. After reading through the forums and about the type of games people wanted I thought people wanted a more action based game like Blind Gladiator or Blind Swordsman, games that are totally different to what I had planned, so I shelved the project. Is there any interest in a turn based combat game like I described above? I'm working on something else at the moment but if there's enough interest in this I would consider returning to it.

Re: Help me with a little Manamon 2 Fun

Ah. I've never used one of these before, but it looks very much like a one-trick pony. It's strongest move uses its weaker attack stat, which is where I guess hone blade would come in. Well, I mean I guess storm rush is technically its strongest move, but storm rush is gross. And the only other physical moves that would benefit from hone blade are pounce and suffocate. Also, has anyone used Gubbulline on a playthrough? It looks like it's meant to be purely defensive. So I guess you'd use all your training points to max out defense and magic defense, put an angel pendant on it, use aura guard and call to arms to jack up its defenses and strength to max and then the only way anything could hurt you is with chip damage or things like piledriver, dragon burst, powerfang and soul split and the like. I'm tempted to use this thing on a playthrough but I'll bet it would be very slow going.

Re: Muds based on mainstream games

@Bookrage, Waddle don't? that's funny. I amusingly enough made a reploid character called Tao, given the amount of characters in the Mega man x series who are named after Greek letters.I found that even in areas I didn't recognise, like the earthbound ones, I found mechanics I liked, like the question mark blocks, however there just wasn't a clear indicator of showing what in the games was actually unique and where to go, so I wound up playing four or so levels of basic monster fighting, with no real abilities to speak of to distinguish things, and even the newbie quests like the community service one seeming impossible. it's a shame, since the introduction with the nes and super punchout was absolutely fantastic, and I suspect if there is more to do than walk around, typing "kill monster, then using generic practices," this is one I'd enjoy.

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

Ok, I will have Ethin and Mayana ripping me to shreds for this, but let's roll with the idea of a longer Sunday for a second and see what I can come up with. This reality that I am working with is exactly working like our world we are living in right now. All other rules and nature bound laws apply here.Firstly, let's establish a longer Sunday. The year has only 26 weeks in the callender. It will still have 52 weeks when looking at our own callender, but stay with me here.We will also pretend that our fictional year starts on a Monday. not always the case, but it's easier for me to handle in this situation. So, here is how it works.Every uneaven week is handled as a normal week of work and daily life, that's why I will work with 26 weeks instead of 52.Every even week is handeled as one single day, so, a Sunday instead. So, the first month would lookk like this.Start of year, jan 1st.End of first week and start of Sunday, jan 7th.End of Sunday, Jan 14th.Start of second regular workk week, jan 15th.End of second workweek and beginning of next Sunday phase, jan 21st.You still with me yet? Good, then we have a week long Sunday established, let's look at the hole thing in abit more detail.Firstly regarding the money and finantial situation.Workkers would be getting less money from their place of work do to the lower amounds of weeks they are actually working. This results in a lower purchasing power of the world and a reduce of the finantial market as a hole.People could also get into stores less regularly because of the fact that stores are also closed on Sundays, including the Sunday weeks as well. This in turn results in, when the stores open again, a huge onrush of people in the bigger citys that need to get their grocerys for the next week or, in our reality, 2 weeks. This will get difficult for stores to handle because they A, need to order larger quantitys of food and food products and secondly, they need to store the food somewhere. So, bigger wearhouses are built to store the food, the increase of storage costs will be applyed to the food items, making them more expensive in the longrun. With the lower amound of money that people receive each month, some items might be unavailable for them because of their price, or, do to the onrush, they might not even be available anymore. The storage problem doesn't stop there. Perishable food like meat, fruit, vetchtables and so on need to be cooled for a longer time and in bigger quanitys than usual do to the higher amounds that need to be purchased. This will require larger or multiple fridges that in turn, consume more power, increasing the cost of energy on the monthly bill, wich will, yes, result in some people possibly not having any money for their power supply, these people will possibly lose access to the power grid eventually, making food storing and other daily activitys a possible chore and even stop making things possible in the first place. Some people might start their own gardens or farms to counter possible food shortages and produce their own food items, so I guess some can handle the situation. There are more things that can result in money beeing an issue. A bigger onrush in the citys on a monday will and might result in bigger numbers of cars in the citys, resulting in a bigger number of accidents, increasing the costs of car insurances do to the risc factor as an example.Let's be generous and adjust the amounds of money again, the world bank is printing more bills and people receive the same money as we do over here. They now have the purchasing power to aquire more items, resulting in lower stress on the stores. But, companys that can now sell less products do to the people having more money still want to raise their proffets, so, food items might get more expensive again, till we have the state before more money was given to the people and they have the same purchasing power as before. Then again, there is another increase of money for everyone, food items are easier to buy again, days later, the prices increase again and so on and so forth, till we have a full blown inflation on our hands, making the finantial systems collapse under the pressure, high prices and basically worthless money. And boy, I just started now.I know, my theory has more potholes than the backstreet highway from horseplop Alabama to Sisterfist Arcansaw, but hey, it's 4:30 AM in Germany, I have three beers in my system and like thinking up crude theorys.Greetings Moritz.

Stunt is critical for the modern MOO IMHO. Toaststunt because it's being worked on. You get a bunch of stuff, including 64 bit ints, the map, the waif datatype, a bunch of stuff that migrated from the database to server builtins, argon 2 password hashing, and probably more I'm not thinking of.

Note: I've had only very limited experience as a programmer on Stunt, and none as a wizard. I know most concepts are the same, but there are some new features and changes.

Yeah, mention it for sure. I think there's a lot of subtlety and, in the case of your article, not so subtlety, about creating alt text. Don't be a dick while writing it is at one end of the clue spectrum. Don't describe any old image just because it's an image is at the other end of the clue spectrum. Balance is key.

Re: Muds based on mainstream games

I created a character in cleft of dimensions but not sure if I'm going to stick around. I created a kirby dancer called Waddle Don't (all one word without the apostrophe"  as a joke on the game series. There was this little red guy in the kirby games who basically had kirby's build but he had a huge honking eye in front of him and he could use the beam whip power. He was called Waddle Doo. Honestly, I'm not a big enough person to know a lot of the game worlds I would be visiting. I looked at a list of areas and don't know what a lot of them refer to.  I recognize several of the megaman, mario, and a couple pokemon ones. I also find it hard to manage my character and it doesn't hold your hand as well as some other games.  I've seen a few Earthbound and Zelda worlds as well but a large number of them just don't work for me. I think I might try this one or give it a pass, I haven't decided. Fandom games don't really usually work for me but this one is not without its charms.

But the game is good.  keep up the good work.

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

I don't think it has much to do with translation. Cioran does seem to write in a somewhat obscure manner. He probably did it intentionally, as a kind of poetry. I say that because he's obviously using literary allusions, e.g. "liberated from sweat" and then referencing "the first curse". But I could equally do that in another kind of setting, like so.Jenkins was really angrier, angrier than I'd even seen her. It didn't matter. I thought he should know what was going on, and if Jenkins turned me into the eagle-ravaged bringer of fire for that? So be it. He had to know how the Americans were playing him. That's just stuff I made up, think of it as an excerpt from a spy novel, which you should be able to get even if you have no idea about the reference to fire. Just FYI, it's a reference to Prometheus, who in Greek myth gave man fire, among other things, and because of the stuff he did, he was punished by being chained to a rock and having his liver eaten from his body by a giant eagle every day, it grew back at night. The fact that I chose to make that reference does make it harder to understand if you don't know Greek mythology, but it shouldn't be impossible to get the basic sense of it, even if you don't know the reference. Of course I wrote in plainer language around it, but still, you get the idea. Knowing what "the first curse" refers to might be helpful, but it's hardly necessary to get the gist of it, namely, what would happen if we had months and months of not having to work?

Re: Battle Of Armageddon: a forgotten survival horror

Hi everyone,So I've thought about this game a little bit over the past few weeks, and I decided I want to at least give it another try.At first, I didn't like it because of hidden death traps and having a sense of not really knowing what I was doing, but I think I was running low on patience because I was a little overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to play the game, using translators etc. And while I'm still not sure I'm completely comfortable with playing these foreign games, I think I could afford to muster my patience and give it another go, since I've read some interesting things about it and am intrigued. I also heard a recording of someone progressing farther into the game and hearing how the battles worked, and I thought that was cool too.Unfortunately I need to sort a few things out before I can play again, so if someone could respond to these questions I'd appreciate it!1. Most important: Where can I get the game? The link in post 1 here isn't working.2. Which translation service should I use? Any NVDA add-on recommendations? I asked this in another thread a while back iirc, but figured I'd pose it here in case anyone had suggestions. If push comes to shove, I'll use the Google Translate web site and copy the text into it, but if there are easier ways, I'm all ears!3. Is there a demo version and a full version? If so, how much does the demo give you compared to the full game?4. (Least important but something I'm thinking about nonetheless): Is it possible to purchase with Paypal if I eventually want to buy the game? I'm not really comfortable linking my bank account to a strange foreign transaction service atm, so if I do eventually want to purchase the game, I may have a problem... But yeah. I'm trying not to worry about that right now, since for all I know, I'll still not enjoy it.In addition, I may need a bit of help getting the prerequisits up and running, especially Chinese ViaVoice (iirc I never did get that working), but I'll tackle that later. For now, I'm mainly interested in grabbing a copy of the demo, playing with it some more, and translating the text. If I can get away without ViaVoice, I'd rather do that, but I feel like it will be useful to have.So yeah, that's all for now. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I want to mention alt texts, and obviously I want people to use them, but I want people to use them wisely. The one I saw was a news article about something food related... "Mum shocks internet with £1 meal choice" type of thing. The image of her had an alt text like "Fat woman in ugly apron" or something. Not terrible, but I can imagine the person who wrote the article putting the alt text in without thinking anyone would ever notice.I just want to make the point that just because it's not visible, doesn't mean it'll never be picked up by someone.

Re: S.E.A., watercraft simulator

I literally fell sleep playing this today lol. When I woke up, there was a treasure near me which I don't remember so either I was playing it in my sleep or I nodded off right after a scan.A few things. I wonder if we could have waves that have motion and volume. You do hear waves if you sit there idle and just listen, but for my purposes, I want to use them to launch off of . When I'm near the surface, I always get a few jumps in, but I think it would be fun to be able to get airborne using waves if you were heading into one.I wonder if it would be useful to put a cooldown on turbo mode? I wouldn't want to have to be forced to go the distance without it, but at the same time, it does make gathering treasures easier. Especially since the most trouble I have is lining up vertically. I can use the doppler effect to help which you don't really get a whole lot without turbo on, so it definitely makes things easier. Plus, if you're using a controller, you can just run in turbo all the time because you can modulate your speed with the analog inputs.

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

Ethin:  That's what it means. And yeah, I did jab at you guys, because you're acting like Wing's just this dumbass posting a bunch of idiocy. Shred his philosophy to bits all you like. But then actually do that. Hint, "see how other people in the world think about Sunday because they work on Sunday" isn't shredding his philosophy, it's completely failing to even understand it.It's like if I posted this long thing about a beautiful unicorn and then said "See the beauty of the unicorn in your own life" and you guys responded with "unicorns don't exist asshole". Yeah duh. It's called a metaphor. Responding like that wouldn't be doing a single thing against my philosophy, it would just be missing the point entirely. So let's look at what he actually quoted a bit."If Sunday afternoons were extended for months, where would humanity get to, liberated from sweat, from the weight of the first curse? The experiment would be worth the trouble."So, Sunday afternoon gets extended for months. What does that mean? We're "liberated from sweat and the first curse". OMG, it's mystical bullshit! Except no, no it isn't."To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’“Cursed is the ground because of you;through painful toil you will eat food from itall the days of your life.It will produce thorns and thistles for you,and you will eat the plants of the field.By the sweat of your browyou will eat your fooduntil you return to the ground, since from it you were taken;for dust you areand to dust you will return.”"  Genesis, 3:17-19So, the "liberated from sweat" gives us the hint that "the first curse" is the curse of work. Man that sure was hard wasn't it? Next we get to every second being an intolerable torment. Why? Because we're bored because we lack the distraction of work. I'm not going to bother going through the whole thing. But I just gave you two really straightforward examples of how yes, what I posted in 14 is pretty much exactly what it's saying. And again, let me stress, I don't agree with it like, at all.I don't think life is a big giant set of things we do to distract ourselves from boredom and hence from the whole problem that we even exist. I agree, that's a ridiculous philosophy. But it *is* a philosophy. Actually it's a set of related philosophies, because I'd put Sartre in here too, except for Sartre, we're paralyzed by intolerable freedom/choice, I think, it's been a while since I've read any Sartre. But I mean, these are real philosophies, studied by real philosophy departments and stuff. A quick search tells me that's a quote from "A Short History of Decay", by E. M. Cioran.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emil_CioranAgain, saying "that's a bunch of mystical bullshit I don't want to decode" is fine. But that's not a philosophical response. It's just you pissing and moaning about something you can't, or are unwilling to, comprehend. If that's too much work that you don't want to bother with, awesome. But then why respond at all? You're just making a choice that's dumb for everybody. It's dumb for you because you are, by your own admission, wasting your own time. It's dumb for the rest of us because you claim you're responding philosophically or "talking philosophy" when you're doing no such thing, and you're insulting people while failing to do so.I think it's a perfectly fine stance to refuse to slog one's way through Sartre, for example. But then you can't simultaneously say that Sartre's talking a bunch of bullshit, because you have no idea *what* Sartre's talking, because you haven't put in the work to find out one way or the other. And I mean, I get that. I haven't slogged my way through City of God by Augustine either, because good holy gods have you seen that thing? Here's a sample sentence. "Many of them, indeed, being reclaimed from their ungodly error, have become sufficiently creditable citizens of this city; but many are so inflamed with hatred against it, and are so ungrateful to its Redeemer for His signal benefits, as to forget that they would now be unable to utter a single word to its prejudice, had they not found in its sacred places, as they fled from the enemy's steel, that life in which they now boast themselves." I think some sentences take up a whole page, depending on the translation. But I don't go around saying that City of God is a bunch of mystical claptrap either. Because I haven't read it, only skimmed it briefly.

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

Hi,Not saying I agree with post 1, but  I don’t think the opp is saying this is possible or practical or that Sunday is the day of rest for everyone, I think he is just theorising that if you remove work and hardship and that all that there was to live for was fun,  society would dissolve into disarray. Again, i'm not saying i agree but just pointing out what I think he is trying to get at, I guess a better example would be if we could live in virtual reality  forever, where you didn’t have to work and could do almost anything, where would your limits suddenly extend to? how would you get your kicks if you could do anything without consequence . I think as a lot better example of this in a more modern approach is many of the black mirror episodes which deal with living in a virtual reality, , or uploading/transferring our consciousness  into a digital world, cookie anyone hahaha. don’t want to give up an accidental black mirror spoiler for anyone who hasn’t watched the series,  so stop reading now if you don’t want a black mirror spoiler , but I think there is a brilliant episode  which demonstrates  the point I think the opp is trying to make , but in a very cool and dark black mirror style.Spoiler belowThere is an episode called San Junipero, where just before people die they can upload  their consciousness   into a digital world and go on and live forever in a virtual town called San Junipero.  It’s a good episode, its actually one of the less darker episodes in the series,  but even so you still see a small glimpse into the darker side of the San Junipero town.  With life in San Junipero being just one big party, where you can do almost anything and with no consequences people that have lived their for a long time can no longer get their kicks the same way, they keep  looking for deeper darker ways of trying to fulfil their desires, and as one of the characters says in the show they can no longer really feel anything. This is really only a sub plot of the whole episode , but I think makes that point, of what if you truly truly lived forever, with no need to work, you can have anything you desire and there are no consiquences to your actions.Paul Lemm

Re: A very interesting thing that happens to me

I also find it odd.  I just don't find it, I guess mysterious?  Sometimes AV software just decides it doesn't like you.  I have had to let lots and lots of programming tools through over the years.  Npm, Node, docker.  Even WSL a couple times, despite that being *by* Microsoft.  I don't think that I've ever had it go so far as to quarantine the downloaded file, but coding this kind of thing is totally the kind of thing where it might decide to do exactly that.the key difference between Goldwave and this is the scope, though.  Saying "o it downloads an executable" isn't the point I'm making; the point I'm making is it downloads an executable that happens to have a *lot* of code that otherwise looks like a virus inside.  Saying "but other autoupdaters work" is missing my point entirely.  The only difference between a screen reader and a credit card stealing keylogger is that your screen reader isn't uploading stuff.  If pointing these programs at non-NVDA executables also makes the behavior happen then it's probably Nuno's machine in some way (maybe they've got a second AV and have forgotten about it it for example). But specifically to Nuno: this probably isn't a programming problem, dealing with this problem and many others are why companies who write remote access IT troubleshooting software make lots and lots of money, and you shouldn't in any way feel bad about not being able to solve it.

@14, there's a difference between stating something like that and stating pure nonsense. and I don't think that's what he was trying to say -- and I honestly don't really want to know what he's trying to say because it'd probably be something even more mystical that I'd need to try to decode and make sense of and end up failing to comprehend. If he posts things like this, don't be surprised if people like Mayana or I post things in response because I'm guessing that Mayana is like me in the department of philosophy: we're willing to philosophize with you but we'll happily shred your philosophy to bits if necessary.I, personally, respond because I'd rather someone see this BS for what it is instead of actually trying to make sense of it. And maybe there's something to be learned in his nonsense too... Though if there is I haven't seen it yet. At least he's not proposing a virtual state or anything. I imagine Mayana is similar -- though I don't know. If Mayana and I don't respond, or if GCW doesn't, or Afrim and so on... Someone will. And don't think I didn't notice that little jibe near the end of your post either.

Hello everyone,I hope you're all doing fine, especially these days.I know I'm not really active on the forum as a poster; still, I browse this section quite often and always find some interesting news, pieces of advice and technical support given to others that also profits me at times - good job!I thought I might be able to give something back so just wanted to share with you something I have been involved in for quite a while.Perhaps you have heard of the EBU Access Cast. It's the podcast of the European Blind Union that comes out every six weeks where news in the areas of accessibility and assistive technology is discussed from an European perspective: we inform or try to guess whether a certain product or service might be available in Europe and what the prices will be or we exchange different experiences and technological solutions we know from our own countries - which I find especially interesting even as a part of the podcast. I think this way it can be also interesting for those who don't live in Europe but are interested in how blind people's experiences differ across countries and some of the news is universal anyway. There are also interviews and demos from time to time so plenty of content as you see.Whenever I see some mainstream gaming news in relation to accessibility being very popular with the VI community, I am sure to cover it, so gaming is mentioned from time to time as well.If you've heard of the podcast already, we have a new episode out, what's also new are the jingles so the overall listening experience is more dynamic. WE had a chance to discuss the latest happenings at the CES 2021 event as well as how emergency alerting is handled in Croatia, Iceland and Poland; also some unusual music gadgets have been mentioned.Should you be interested, the podcast is located at:https://ebuaccesscast.libsyn.com/If you find it interesting enough and would like to contribute, we are also open for demos of software and hardware so you can be a part of the journey too.I hope you'll enjoy it.Have a great weekend and all the best!Paweł

Re: A humanity unbound by all it's reality turned in to an eternal sunday

Look, I agree, whatever he's quoting from is some first class bullshit. But you've got to understand, he's quoting some pessimistic or existential philosopher. All of which is to say, you guys are taking him way too fucking literally with the time dilation and what would happen to plants and shit.In essence what his post is saying runs something like this. Human beings distract themselves with a bunch of stuff, as somebody put it, they have shit to get done. Work, kids, hobbies, whatever. But if a day where you didn't have to do anything was eternal, eventually you'd get bored with all of the distractions. Now here's where I'm guessing a bit. Once you get bored, like really truly bored such that nothing satisfies, you'll realize this problem of existence, you are, you have being, but what's the point? And you'll realize this because you're bored, because if this stuff that you have to or want to get done isn't a distraction from existence, you'd be doing it, you wouldn't be bored.I'm sorry. I disagree with it philosophically, and I wish Wing would cite his sources because I'm pretty sure that's mostly a really long quote from somebody, and I realize the language isn't the most straightforward thing in the world. But I feel like a lot of you aren't even trying. And that's fine. There's no requirement that you pay attention to it. But then just don't pay attention to it. There's no reason to insult Wing over it all. Nobody's forcing you to read it, or to try and understand it, or to respond to it, and so on. If you think it's gibberish that doesn't make sense to you, cool. I think we all kind of get that by now. I'll also add, while I'm at castigating people, that this wasn't a question. Wing didn't come in asking you for something that he'll then ignore. It's pretty much a big giant statement. You'd think people who have an issue with that and think they're intelligent would have better reading comprehension, but I guess not.

Re: An Opportunity May Be Just Around The Corner...

I wanted everyone to know this project is still in the works. A lot has happened personally in our lives in the last month including surgery, which is why its been slow.If your still interested, and you either know MOO or are willing to learn/work with it, send us another Email. We'll also be reaching out to some of you who already emailed pretty soon too. We're not saying MOO is the only way to make this happen, but it is something we are familiar with so its a starting point. If you know a better way to achieve a similar result, we're open to that as well.

@Post 1, just calm down and clear your mind, thinking too deep will probably lead to nothing because it's only your brain working, no one's.Then, I don't know who came up with the concept of stopping the time. If time stops, we stop existing, because time is existence. You can do anything with the time but stop it.

just think of the essence of bordem a state of bordem that is between acts before doing anything , a state of lucidity in which you are no longer your own subject, time flows differently because then the man which is bored is lucidly contemplating it'snature feeling it's wait, allways outside of it.  He is not an object nnot a subject, he is something more then the world since bordom itself suspends him.   People usually don't have the lucidity of the passing of time, but just think about it it all seems a frozen becoming.   Bordem as universal.

Re: A very interesting thing that happens to me

@18, that makes absolutely no sense though. If I wget NVDA from the official website, its not flagged. How is this program any different from wget'ing or curl'ing the same file? This program is no different to wget && unzip nvda.exe && .\nvda\nvda.exe. So there's absolutely no reason it should be being flagged. Again, I refer you back to an updater for (say) GoldWave. GoldWave downloads a new executable binary of the setup program (which probably isn't signed). It then asks if you'd like to run it. You click okay. It runs. Defender never complains.NVDA downloads a setup program (which is just a fancy zip file converted into a special executable) and runs it. Again, no flag. So, again How is this any different other than this code downloading a zip file and extracting it before running the process? The only other difference in NVDA's update sequence and this program is that NVDA doesn't extract the setup file, but runs a separate program (the setup file) which performs the extraction, whereas this code downloads a zip file and performs the extraction inline. That shouldn't be a reason to go "Hey this is a virus, delete delete delete".

FWIW, another data point, but I've not seen inappropriate alt text either. Sorry to hear that you have.I mean, the absolute worst alt text I've seen was something on, maybe the BBC website, and it was something like "separational line". I just don't give a crap. So maybe inappropriate in the sense that someone read about alt text, had to put it everywhere, and slapped it on purely decorative images. But I've certainly never seen something like alt="fuck off and die".

Re: A very interesting thing that happens to me

@17My point is that NVDA does.  Program a downloads program b.  Program b does all the things a virus would do.  Problems result.  That's not surprising to me.What may be surprising (and is unclear on a skim) is if this also happens if he downloads other executables. But in any case there's not much that can be done unless he's willing to buy code signing certificates, regardless of anything else we might or might not say.

Re: A very interesting thing that happens to me

@16, he's posted the code. None of his code sends any of those messages or calls SetWindowsHook/SetWindowsHookEx. I'm not sure what code your reading but its not the code in this topic. If he called SetWindowsHookEx I would've asked about that way earlier. He also doesn't get his code to execute in other processes. He starts a process -- nvda.exe -- but does not use shellcode or any techniques that viruses might use. I'd love to read the code that your getting that from, because if its from NvDA, then yes, NVDA does call those functions... But by that logic, NVDA is a virus. Hell, by that logic every screen reader is a virus. Naturally, such a conclusion is false. If it weren't, it wouldn't be as popular as it is.Furthermore, as I said, his wording implies that its his app that's getting deleted. Perhaps both the zip file and the binary are being deleted, or perhaps its NVDA that's getting deleted; but either way, the deletion still doesn't make sense because if his .zip file is a portable copy of NVDA, the code signing transfers with the binary. Its embedded in the binary. Wherever the binary goes, the signature goes with it. And I'm pretty positive that NVDA is signed. If NVDA remote and such weren't signed, then defender would only delete those particular binaries and not the entire download. That is assuming, mind, that the deletion occurs *after* the extraction. If his wording is correct, deletion occurs before the downloader is even able to begin downloading the archive, so there's something else weird going on.
