@simter, you are correct there, I got years mixed up, although I was there the day it went down. As for the it's in bgt card, it had potential, and I wish it still did. But if you read the take down message, it states that they wanted to recode it in a different language. Weather that was just a small part of why it whent down, I don't know, but the message was clear. Bgt is a dieing language, and we are refusing to see that the future is coming weather we like it or not. To open source redspot will just repeat a cycle that this community has been going through for years. And quite honestly I'm getting really fucking tired of it. If someone is going to make a new redspot, with a name change hopefully, why the hell should they make it in bgt?

Redspot is holding us back. We are here, arguing about how an outdated game in an outdated coding language should be open sourced. I loved redspot. I was once adicted to redspot, yes I know. But every thing has an end. Because of its current issues, I somehow doubt that it would be able to succeed on a larger scale. Just face it. It's done. And no amount of arguing about how it should be open source is going to bring it back. Quite frankly, I wish someone would go and make something better, something to last, something more powerfull in the respect that it could handle a large player base and not become a pile of lag. Honestly, the adobe footsteps are not that good in my opinion. Too mechanical, too many single audio files. Just not realistic. There are a few exceptions.Gold wave is definitely limiting when it comes to vst use. Which is why I mostly use it to edit giant audio files that have lots of stuff that has to be edited out. After that, I throw edited files in to reaper to mix them. If I had to choose to only keep one daw, rather that be reaper or gold wave, I would have to choose reaper. But I like to use both. Reaper doesn't cost much more, but, it could be easier to learn.

I guess it all depends on what you want. gold wave and audacity work in different ways. For a multi track audio editor however I use reaper. If someone reading this is considering paying for gold wave or using free audacity and they would rather use audacity, by all means. I recommended gold wave however because it’s a lot more simple to use, especially for beginners. Gold wave is more suited to simple audio editing and getting things done quickly and efficiently, while audacity and reaper along with others being multi track editors seem to me to be more music oriented. I recommended gold with here because, again, for what Rory wants, something simple like gold wave will probably be the better option. Not that gold wave can't do any thing else, but when it comes to more complex tasks multi track editors may have it beat. Bare in mind however that I used gold wave for just about all of war of the idiots, for the few that have listened to it.

Gold wave or audacity depends on your preferences. I may be wrong on this but audacities accessibility has been questionable, and it’s interface at least in my experience it leaves a bit to be desired. On the other hand, it is completely free, where gold wave is, somewhat not free. But what gold wave does best, quick and efficient audio editing, it does very very well. You cannot make editing much simpler, and I mean Audacity and reaper are more multi track-based audio editors, and they work with projects instead of single audio files. When I need to make a quick alteration to an audio file, I will use gold wave every single time because it seems to be exactly what is meant for. Where with audacity or reaper, I would probably have to first paste the file into a new project window edit it, and then render the entire thing again.@Jaidon, doing that would result in some loss to audio quality in some form during the process. I believe when you upload the video a bit is lost. I might be wrong on that. When youdownload it as a different format than either it’s original, you’re probably going to lose some Quality as well.

Rory, just get gold wave. Trimming and editing in general is ridiculously simple with it. Zapsplat and the freesound.org Collection defender made probably have the most footsteps sounds that you can fine for free, actually fuck it, I'll post back here in a little wile with a few links.

Rory-games wroteok where did people get this 3 weeks only idea? How're they going to be able to stop us from using it? What's stopping us from creating a local dns that points to their website and then putting a file on there?You’re basically telling us in that post and in the next post how to hack part of someone’s game if I’m not mistaken. I do think there should be like, a sable player, that has no editing capabilities but you can play the projects that you created. That way we don’t lose everything after three weeks.

With osara, there is quite a lot of potential if you’re willing to just sit down and learn reaper. Takes a little wile, still learning myself, but it's worth it because unlike gold wave, it's vst support is good enough to do more then Basic stuff with, which means, a lot now adays, especially with the sorts of things I do.And Rory, I must ask. You have been on the forum for quite some time. How could you not have heard at least mentions of these three programs. And if you have, in passing, why have you not at least made an effort to learn more about them and how they can benefit you?

People are just plain lazy when it comes to finding sounds if you ask me. I have seen so many people that don't even try to look. It's not that hard if you would just crack open some of the sights, such as zapsplat listed in the topic in the dev room. It really, really isn't. Here’s what you have to do. Search a few very basic keywords into a search field, press the enter key, tab around and listen to a few sounds, and download the one you want. Granted, if your like me, and you need a shit tun of sounds in bulk, things can take a little while. But still. It’s not that hard. That’s all. And most of the sounds taken from games are from payed libraries so technically, they are stolen. The it’s too hard to fine sounds naritive just doesn’t hold up. Not today anyway. And the people who made that list put a lot of hard work into it, just so people wouldn't use it?

@dark It’s manageable, but overall the map is easier to use in six ages. That also goes for just about everything in the game. King of dragon pass was awesome but on occasion the layout could become a little bit cumbersome. From a long time player of king of dragon pass, six ages took a bit of time to get used to. It seems to be harder on beginners then it’s predecessor, and there’s a bit of a learning curve involved with this one as well, which personally I feel actually adds to the game. The one thing I have with six ages is that it’s kind of hard to tell when you’re doing things right until something presents itself in the story. I just kept getting trade routes, trying to get richer, performing rituals, and eventually things started to happen. It’s worth the effort if you ask me. Patience is key.

I bet most people play on ios any way. Making it work with voiceover on mac, NVDA and things of the like would probably fall much lower on the priority list. I can't really ask that of them if the ios build is perfectly playable. They have already done a lot as it is.

I just finished six ages and won king of dragon pass a long time ago. I look back now and realise that they went out of there way to insure that there games could be played by us, with the accessibility of six ages being a testament to this. One of the very few frustrations I had with king of dragon pass was the map. In six ages, this was no more. Not only that, but they put image discriptions in many of the Seens.That, and these games are perhaps the best that I have ever actually played in terms of world Building and story. On another note, how did accessability come about in king of dragon pass? And does it work with screenreaders on the computer like nvda.

Someone give me a random awesome lesser-known audio game to play

I want a good audio game to play, but I want it to be lesser known as I might make a review of it on YouTube.   Wile I could just look through the list of 700+ audio Games on the main page,   I’ve never really gotten anywhere with that.

@jimmy 69 I doubt it.  This person‘s writing style does not seem to be his.   It almost appears as if English was not their native language,   Because I could not easily understand most of the things they said, because the sentences were so nonsensical. Not like mahdi's writing stile or the other guy's stile,  because this person had  A larger vocabulary.  If you ask me,  someone was probably using Google translate to translate from whatever there native tongue was to english.

Let's be honest. A lot of people play clones because there are hardely any good games out there any more. I know this because someone I know wanted to hoast a redspot version. I said I would not join in, and it never happened from what I know. Why did they someone who has been against cloning in the past, consider it? Because there is, almost, nothing to play any more, and they were board as all hell. To date this topic is the most that I've ever seen done about this shortage. This is just me, but we don't seem to have many things left to play. I am quite against clones, but can you blame people who are board as all hell. They will play what they can get there hands on because to them perhaps there is nothing better. That is how this looks to me.

Inquisitor 1 is probably the worst with beeing clunky, at least for me. The games are not bad, but there are definetely things that could have been done to make them better. So you may as well grab them wile you can. Just downlode them when you can, better safe then sorry. I do think they are a bit over priced if they still go for 17 bux, that needs to go down. I hope the best for chapter 4 and await it's releace. I don't think the voice acter talks too slowly, although at times he may. You get used to it over time.

I'm guilty of this two because I use those in my videos.
