Hosting RTR on Linux server?

Hi all:As some of you know, I was originally hosting an RTR server from my Windows computer.  I'm now hosting a server from Linode that is running a TeamTalk server, and I was curious -- how do you host an RTR server on Ubuntu?  I can't afford to run my Windows machine like a dedicated server.I'm somewhat afraid the answer is, "You can't, idiot."  I'm new to this server hosting concept and just the concept of networking in general, but I'm learning.  I do apologize for seemingly easy questions.Thanks in advance,Luke

Interesting.  I've never played what you guys mconsider "good maps."  I've always stuck with the traditional maps that come preconfigured...Are they that bad?I always thought it was lack of servers people weren't playing.  I only saw maybe five servers on the list, all of which weren't playable.If anyone hosts a server 24/7 that would be nifty, but I however cannot.Luke

Hi Gorthelon,Thanks for the clarification.  I'll give this a go when I find that hidden admin password to the router.Just to ensure I'm doing this properly, the TCP and UTP ports for the same port number need to be opened (forwarded)?  Is the number I choose arbitrary, or is there a method to determining what that might be?I have little to no experience with networking, so my apologies for the seemingly basic questions.Edit: I've forwarded the ports under my router.  I had two options:Basic settings:A dropdown where you could select a device that was connected to the router.  I selected my my laptop that I am using.  Then from the next dropdown menu, it wanted to know what application to forward, or click custom.  I clicked custom, selected both UTP and TCP.  Then I inputted 6789 for the port number.I tried connecting to my server on RTR by clicking connect under the start section of
  the game.  It automatically did.I'm trying now to determine how to identify the server address.I hope I didn't need to mess with the destination ports, source ports, or forward to ports options under the advanced section.Luke

I don't have an active server.  I don't play the game.  I don't think there is enough of a high demand for there to be a 24/7 server either.  I would suggest creating your own server from your computer.Luke

Most likely it's for the same reason.  I don't think GorthelonTheDragon (proud owner of TRTR) hosts his own stand-alone server.  The "servers" are a loose term.  The game is played specifically online hosted by a machine that allows other users to connect.  The hosts just use their laptops, not necessarily a server tower in the way we think.Luke

I have played Steam's version of MK on my old PC over a year ago.  I seemed to have lost my info to log on, and I much don't feel like paying Valve a $20 fee for a game I got on sale 75% off.Has anyone played the CD version of MK Komplete Edition or the 2011 edition on PC?  I'm contemplating playing the game straight from the disc instead of redownloading Steam and wasting all that space just to play.Thanks,Luke

I just downloaded Swamp on my Win10 side of Mac, and am getting an error whenever I try to open and run the game.I get "Component 'MSCOMMF32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not registered or one of its files is missing or not valid."Has anyone had this issue?  Is Swamp not updated to run on Win10?I've been a recluse to audiogame news, so this might be a question already asked.Thanks,Luke

Solara seemed to be one of those games you would play when there was nothing good on TV (for those of you who haven't jumped on the Netflix/Hulu bandwagon).  The concept seemed pretty cool, but it also became repetitive very quickly.  As far as I as a gamer am concerned, it required very little strategy and more or less pressing the same familiar buttons over and over again, turning the same progress.  Eventually I stopped playing it because it provided really no entertainment at all.  I was hooked more on the 'Somethin Else' game platforms, which to this day are still fun.Best Regards,Luke

If you are interested, I would be more than happy to help you construct and host a website. It will cost you some money, but it's very cheap. Edit: I didn't understand your post because I misread it.  Unfortunately, free website builders don't have a great user interface regarding accessibility.  If you're looking to just host podcasts, perhaps you should just distribute the Dropbox links instead of going through the hastle of uploading only a few links.  If you're definitely sure you want to go down the free route, I can give a few pointers:1. Google Domains and website builder is fairly accessible.2. Google, like other free website builders, includes its original domain name in your domain name.  You can get rid of it by simply paying the $12 assuming the domain name hasn't already been taken by any other service provider.3. Wordpress is another option I'd recommend.  It's a blogging site,
  but it's a site that costs nothing.4. If you are willing to shell out a few bucks every so often, you can host your own website.5. If you choose to host your own website, website builders do not seem to be accessible.  (Somebody can jump in here).  You'll have to code the site with HTML and upload your HTML files to the host server.Best regards,Luke

Papa Sangre: What's up with this update?

SO, as most of you know, Somethin' Else is discontinuing its production of future updates for Papa Sangre.I played the game in its entirety yesterday, and they really botched this final update (if this is indeed the final one).Any tiles on the floor that created noise for the hogs to hear and chase you have been removed, limiting the excitement and adrenaline-increase.  For example, any guts, rubber squeaky toys, or even ambiance such as a river or the island have been taken out.  Additionally, carrying the lost souls to the exit doesn't activate the monster, making it easy to save the souls.  Sometimes, very rarely, the game would crash and lock up on me, but closing the app and removing it from the app switcher seemed to do the trick.I must say though, it was nice to relive the experience of the game.  It'll be sad to see this go.Best Regards,Luke

BryanP is right. You cant switch motion modes in the first game.It seems like the controls are reversed. I have to hold it so swiping is at the bottom of the screen, and the feet are at the top.Best Regards,Luke

Si, Im running IOS 8.1.2 on an iPhone 5S playing Papa Sangre, but turning is not working. Its acting really wonky. I go to swipe to turn, but it doesnt register, it turns but not the direction I want it to. Its hard to explain..Has anyone else had this problem?Best Regards,Luke

Does anyone have a list of games that are accessible for PC? Im planning on getting Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition and Injustice. I looked at Street Fighter IV and Ultra IV, but I heard nothing but crappy reviews about it based off of Steam.Best Regards,Luke
